Quickly solidifying itself into my favorite drama of the year. This show is so severely underrated outside of China that I'm honestly saddened by it.
Though, if I'm being fair, maybe the subtitles for it aren't great? Feel like there could be a lot of nuance and cultural hints that may be going unnoticed.
I'm having such a good time with this show. Maybe it's because I was exactly the same when I was young, constantly writing just the worst stuff, but everything about this drama and the FL's personality is both hilarious and painfully relatable to me.
Ahaha, just goes to show how different people's opinions/views can be! I feel this exact way with one of my friends, who finds most of my favorites really dry and whose preferences I find terribly boring LOL.
Coincidentally, I finished watching Cruel City a couple of days ago! And I have to say that I agree more with Minarii on that one (sorry Jeana haha), especially with how I powered through just for JKH :') I have not seen most of the other dramas on this list, but now I'm tempted just to see who I would agree with more.
I have been thinking about this show almost nonstop for the three days since I finished it and I think I'm going to have to watch it again soon, lol. This drama is short, but every second is filled with quality. It's been a long time since any show has turned the gears of my brain to this extent. Fantastic drama that I would not hesitate to recommend to people.
Could not tell you exactly why, but I'm really enjoying this. Maybe it's the quiet yet quirky mood. Or the cat. (It's probably the cat.)
I'm excited and nervous for the ending because I have no clue what the best way to conclude this kind of story would be. How do you reconcile the fact that the guy's a cat, lol. It'll be interesting to see what the writers do with it!
Wait, it has 45 episodes now? I remembered it to be 40. Did they expand the storyline or something?
I looked it up on all the Chinese websites that I typically use to find reputable drama info. I see nothing anywhere about an episode extension. So unless someone can provide a source on 45 eps, not sure how true it actually is?
A lot of recent comments seem to be rather negative, but if you're looking for a different opinion for balance, maybe I can offer one :)
I'm caught up on the most recent episodes and can say that watching them is still fun. The stories of the side couples aren't riveting, but there's some individuality to them and I think they are worth paying attention to on a first watch-through. Also, the female and male rivals are not as one-dimensional as they initially appear. We're getting more and more hints that they're not just here to be annoying and meddle in the main couple's relationship (though, they can be real bitches LOL). The main couple is also very cute and have a healthy relationship. Altogether, I'm still enjoying this show!
If you're here as someone who read the novel first, I would still give this drama a go; but also, try to not compare the two. I realize that's close to impossible, but in my opinion, the two are too different in how they deal with conflicts/characters to argue over which is definitively "better." The way I think of it is that a web novel cannot translate exactly into a drama because the media is different, and thus requires a different method of portrayal.
Was initially interested for Xiao Zhan as well, but even though he won't show up much, I'm loving this so far! The acting is on-point (that child actor is mindbogglingly good) and the atmosphere is incredibly charming. I adore the balance of lightheartedness with the impending sense of Bad Things™. Super excited to see more!
Thank you for your review. I finished this series yesterday and was confused on why both the wife and I didn’t…
Thank you for your comment! I'm very happy that it helped you understand how you felt about the show, especially since I myself struggled a bit with how to evaluate my own view of it :)
wooow thanks for your high praise! I'm glad to have helped someone with my writing :)
Your English is excellent :o Feel like it's better than some native speakers I know, haha! I like reading both. I used to be very bored by nonfiction, but it's grown on me in past years. How about you?

Not at all! I've enjoyed writing since I was a child, so any skills I have came as a result of just tons of practice. And reading. If you like writing, I think you should just go for it!

Such a fun article concept, thanks for sharing!

BTW, love your icon; made me laugh when I saw it!

Anyways, hope this offers some perspective :)
