Article writer: Finds drama about characters with disabilities inspiring. Uses word "retarded"...
You're either missing the point entirely or deflecting to make yourself feel better. We don't exist in a vacuum; our words have effects.
And there's nothing weak about about being defended. If somebody says something that hurts or denigrates my friend, I will defend them. If somebody has no voice, I will speak for them. I've been in the "weak" and "in need of defence" position many a time and rarely have I felt any sense of condescension from my allies.
I don't wake up in the morning and say to myself, "I think I'll be offended by this word today". I'm shaped by my experiences, and my experiences have taught me that "retard" is a hateful, hurtful word to the people who know it best. It shouldn't be used in any context, and there's simply no need to.

"TBH I hadn't linked it together until you mentioned it, it goes back to the person if he\she thinks a disabled person is the same as a retard, I know I didn't :)"
The word "retard" derives from "mental retardation", which is another term for intellectual disability. It is now a term of abuse. That's basically all there is to it.
I don't care about being offended. Offend me personally all you want. But "retard" is a word that is used not only to offend people, but to hurt them, alienate them, and imply that they are less than human.

It's not my responsibility to put words in the mouths of others to keep them from either offending me (which is besides the point), or denigrating people who are unable to defend themselves. "Retarded" is not a synonym for "weird behaviour". There are plenty of ways to infer "weird behaviour" without equating it to a person with intellectual disabilities.

Koishite Akuma? I watched the whole damn thing for that evil vampire Yoko episode.
Those massive family-owned companies. I usually avoid any drama with that kind of setting because it's always the same revenge plot if it's a melodrama or rich boy/poor girl plot if it's a rom-com.

I swear Koishite Akuma has put me off fantasy J-drama for life. Bride of the Century does sound good, but I really hate chaebol dramas...

I got back into dramas and idols to improve my Japanese comprehension, so I can't say I care about subbing teams. Just never really occurred to me to watch Korean stuff.
I like the supernatural in K-dramas, come to think of it... J-drama isn't good at fantasy.

Being a Johnny's fan feels completely different to being just a Kanjani8 fan. And they both feel different to being a fan when I was 15. And different still to watching Johnny's Countdown when I wasn't a fan at all. Because then it was just a lot of sparkly, feathery men dancing to bad music.
I wish I could get into K-drama more. I feel left out when my Japanese class only talks about K-drama and K-idols.

Idk, I still see a lot of Arashi fans around. But I think there's a difference between fans of one Johnny's group and fans of Johnny's as a whole, and there seems to be less of the latter now. Whereas I'm a fan of one K-Pop group and not K-Pop in general, and that's kinda rare.

Like K-Pop is instant legal gratification via Youtube etc, and Johnny's is... not. Actually, from an international POV, you're not doing yourself any favours when you promote an 11 year old in a group called "Sexy Zone". Not that J&A cares.

Ties in with K-Pop I guess. SNSD are always going to be more exportable than AKB48. And J&A are control freaks who don't even allow photography of their talents. Korea's soft power vs. Japan's insularity is fascinating...

I started out in the highest sets for pretty much every subject but gradually got moved down for being obtuse. The only regret I have is not being allowed to take the higher Maths and French exams. xD English was mixed ability and my favourite class, mostly because the teacher was a great mentor and fostered a give-and-take sort of relationship with us. She is one of my fondest memories of school.
But for RE... I experienced the racism and just about hatred of religion at school, then I went to a Catholic college and experienced the opposite. People are strange wherever I go. Or maybe I'm the strange one, Idk.

Ugh, I feel like I should get a job just to pass more time away.
I avoided Johnny's for ages but since I got back into them I'm actively looking to catch up on EVERYTHING I've missed. It's a pain in the arse and most of the dramas are crap but I feel like I have to do it... And I've been watching just enough of the chocolate drama to keep up, so I think I'm gonna count it as watched anyway. =p
I try my best with Korean dramas but 99% of the time it doesn't click. I wonder when the K-drama fandom got to be bigger than the J-drama fandom.

What do you do instead of watching drama? I have no attention span these days. I always just end up organising my HDD or something.
Yeah, it's been annoying me in all the idol magazines. That's why I watched it. But Idk, certain Johnny's are so stagey all I can see is "Johnny's". And he's one of them. Though to be fair I haven't seen much of him in the past three years. I'm kinda pissed that I missed out on two years of dramas in general.

All she does is lie there while he holds her hand, so maybe it's the perfect role. I haven't really been keeping up with it.
I watched Kamen Teacher which was kinda stupid and a bit traumatic for me, but I ended up liking it by the end.

I miss the days when everything was findable on Youtube.
I just realised she's Ohkura's sister in a coma in Dr. DMAT. But yeah, they both suck together. Fujigaya is growing on me though.

I love the song. The LANDS album was the first Japanese CD I actually bought. And yet I have no interest in watching the movie.
When he scowls he looks like a 70 year old woman.
