The recent BTS (of when they first met) made me wonder if the director expanded on their attraction within their first meeting and also to give ZRN more voice/presence for the sake of the drama adaptation. It might also be this way to provide contrast to how dark her life and innocence turned given the events that came after. I'm trying to be optimistic since I love these two characters haha! Do you think the teaser and first trailer seem to match the unfeeling and reserved high school Yifan?

That's similar to how I started too! I read another manhua by the same artist, then went on to read Eternal Love manhua, then the novel only to fall in love with the characters and their backstory even more. Somewhere in between all that I watched Hidden Love but like you experienced when reading First Frost, it didn't cross my mind that the Sang Zhi from Hidden Love was also the same Sang Zhi in First Frost! The mood and the way the characters were portrayed were so different which is amazing writing/character development on Zhu Yi's part.

This is so helpful so know! Is there a way to sort and look for dramas by their platforms on MDL? If you have any recommendations I'm open to them, I'm sure I'll need after First Frost is done haha

Yes! I also understand why some had different actors in mind but when I first saw the teaser and saw the way BJT looks at ZRN (as SY to WYF) in the classroom it told me everything I needed to confirm that SY's role was in good hands (not to mention some of the reuters too!). As you shared SY's not all about the looks, anyone who understands and recognizes his character knows his looks are not the leading factor of his character. You can have a different actor that objectively/subjectively match a viewer's imagination but bringing out the details of a character's personality especially a character as well developed and layered as SY - it needs to go to someone who has an acquired taste for choosing characters/scripts and declines compromise to deliver a character true to the IP/source material. This factor is also what BJT is recognized for. This is coming from someone who hasn't seen any of his work btw haha! I also look forward to your comments/review as the show progresses and ultimately when it finishes!

Yes that's our precious SY and WYF! I'm also feeling the same. I hope this drama ultimately gets its own space, recognition and appreciation. I hope novel/manhua fans, especially novel fans feel the connection to the drama and the details they imagined as they were reading the novel years ago 💕 I'm also curious what your review will be as you watch the drama and ultimately when the show wraps up!

Have you read the manhua? I don't think FF could have gotten a better manhua artist but I've heard she's on hiatus and some other company is trying to finish the manhua. She's only coming in to do major parts/chapters of the novel. I wish her art was used to create the donghua since it matches FF's vibe

Am I remembering the novel right - the second leads weren't in HS with our main leads correct? I'm guessing that's a change in the adaptation to give the second leads some screen time?

Which major platforms do c-drama fans seem to like the most? I tend to focus on the plot over the platforms but it seems like fans have particular platforms that they trust more to adapt their favorite novels
