No way 😭😭 I need a special episode series with all the what if and extra credit scenes from that novel that didn't make it into the final edit of the drama.

I see, I imagine that's also going to be the reason TXW and ZLH probably won't pair up for another year or two at minimum? I know Bai Lu and LYX were paired in Love is Sweet and then TTEOTM so I'm hoping there is at least a chance for a modern drama in the future.

I also saw your review and gave it my like! I felt so similarly to what you wrote especially about not being able to skip the intro scenes and worrying when I heard BG music that would make me wonder if the episode was already over when I felt like I just started it 😂 I need to read your translations you spoke about, are they on the discussions page?

I heard the softening of XZ's character was partially ZLH's doing and I agree he is more likable in the drama from what I've heard so far, I wish we got to see XZ and CY more. I thought CY was proud of her butcher job in the drama but she was mindful that not everyone understood or respected her for it. I wish she wasn't illiterate in the drama though, it would have been one more thing that made her transition to a Female General more convincing in a short period of time.

I don't think it's a you problem. I thought QQ QM were good actors but I loved Gongsun and the Grand Princess as our second CP, I feel like their screen presence, story and pace was great. I would have loved to see their wedding which I heard was in the novel. I also wanted to see more Gongsun with XZ, but with XZ/ZLH getting less screen time naturally Gongsun would have less too 😭

I'm not too familiar with C-Ent but what you're saying makes sense. It also depends what these producers are targeting. I would imagine international fans would grow both actor individually and be excited for their second collab but I imagine that's not the case in Mainland China. I haven't watched Blossom yet, I feel like it'll make me miss POJ more 😭 but what's happening with the leads from that drama? Are fans not supporting them individually?

Thank you for sharing the discussions page, I don't read many for the same reason 😂 it's in the rare event that a good drama adaptation happens.

I will also add this drama is also has a rare case where each sequel gets better than the last. I watched Doctor Romantic 2 & 3, before I watched season 1. If you enjoyed this season I would definitely give the next 2 seasons a watch!

The few moments General Tang had screen presence felt important so it's sad they deleted his character.

I come back every few days for a comments too 😭😭 I saw they had a celebration recently. I'm trying to be optimistic for a second collaboration with the director and our leads but don't know if it's likely? It's also hard to come by good novels that are adapted really well. Do you read novels often, any you recommend?

It looks like the battle of Lu City would have been one of the moments to show how powerful XZ and also show CY was close to death.

For the killing of Prince Chang Xin, XZ and CY did it together?

I heard in the novel XZ wasn't okay with CY's real identity, which version did you prefer between the drama and novel when it came to this?

😭😭 at this point someone needs to write an extra fan fiction chapter or ending with that scene. What were other scenes you wish they added in the drama that they didn't and you've read the novel right?

For anyone who's read the novel, does CY ever find out that XZ who saved her after her fall and not the granny? I really wished this was an extra credit scene in the drama and something she found out towards the end of the drama 😭

Every time I come across POJ edits I keep on thinking of all the possible extra credit scenes this drama could have had, I miss them 😭

It's making its way to the top of my list, tbh it's hard to watch any historical or costume dramas without thinking about POJ. I also want ZLH and TXW in a modern drama.

Also did you see ZRN's performance with ZLH a few months ago? Also another CP I would love to see one day.

I understand where you're coming from based off how WY was portrayed in the drama. If you read comments from POJ novel readers about what WY really was like and understand the narration the drama gave during his last scene you'll understand WY crossed the line of being a grey character a long time ago.

I'm happy with what we got and I would have happily watched more. Luckily the novel is there for more the extra chapters and the "what if" part was also provided in the novel. I'm happy they didn't cut it off at them leaving for the battle.

Have you read the novel and which version of the translation do you like best? I know there are online translations but I wish I could buy the physical novel to support the author and to enjoy reading it offline.

I wish cdramas did better merch, things that kdramas do with OST and photobooks. Physical English translations of the novel would be amazing too 😭
