Thank you for sharing, I'll definitely check out the reviews! Knowing this, I'm happy with the changes they made in the drama. I only wish we got even more end credits scenes and moments to tie everything together, even so I really enjoyed this drama.

I'm curious if anyone has read the novel for this drama and if there were any scenes you wish were in the adaptation or what the adaptation did differently that you loved?

I read the novel right before I started this drama and I'm so glad I did. I feel like I got to appreciate all the details and the changes they made for the better. It makes sense considering the author of the novel is also one of the scriptwriters of the drama, it made such a huge difference and I wish more authors did that.

Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai have some of the best chemistry I've seen onscreen and perhaps offscreen as well haha! I loved watching their dating era and I can't wait to have these two back in another cdrama!

This drama is special. I think it explored of the most complexed truths of life, grief, healing and narrated it in the most authentic way possible. As mentioned in @Xuehua's review above, I didn't feel a need to choose sides in this drama and was able to understand the perspectives from each individual character. Sometimes it's not about to figuring out who's right or wrong but being empathetic how life can unfold differently for everyone and how time may not heal all wounds but choosing peace overtime may bring one to healing and a life they can look forward to once again.

I hope Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng reunite in a romantic Xianxia and better yet a modern romance. I watched this drama a little late but I remember the promotion videos for this drama and the chemistry of the leads being off the charts. I don't think any other actress/actor could have done these roles better than the two leads respectively.

All of this and you're absolutely right about the casting! One of the things I loved about this drama and its casting was both actors knew what they had to do for their individual character AND what they had to be together. It was also a pleasant surprise for me that HMH directed some of the scenes and gave everything to his character and the moment.

That said, I'm actually happy they didn't exaggerate the villains. Like you said, the pleasantness of this drama is it's simplicity and it took something as simple as misunderstandings, brewing emotions and something like GMD to bring out the worst in people and make them evil to the point of no return. I feel like this kind of arc makes a drama like this more timeless and adds to its rewatch value overtime. I have to stop myself from rewatching it because the universe is so beautiful and it's been a while since everything from the casting to the story itself were so well done. I need LYX and HMH back in a drama soon.

Are the subs better on Viki compared to Netflix?

They do! I really wish I was in the comment section when the drama was airing 😭 It must have been so much fun. I need this pairing back in any kind of drama

Yeah I noticed some different names in the novel which kind of threw me off. I wish there was a breakdown of which chapters correlate to which episodes so I could jump those parts of the novel. I think the tournament and elixir arcs were done well but I wish I could read more on JBZ and MY's relationship. Do you have any chapter sections you recommend and that you loved in the novel?

I saw that Youku also deleted some scenes or it didn't make it the Final Cut, will Youku release these deleted scenes?

Love Lin Yi so excited to see how he portrays a Zhu Yi male lead and also as equally excited to see Lu Yu Xiao after seeing her performance in Love in the Clouds!

A friend recommended this drama and I'm so glad she did. This drama was truly everything and more. If anything I would have happily enjoyed more romance and the deleted scenes because the chemistry was THAT good.

Considering what I've heard about Wuxia dramas and this drama being my first in this genre I'm going to have a hard time finding another Wuxia drama that tops this especially with romance and a good ending. If anyone has recommendations I'm definitely open to them!
