Sooo let's address all the questions that the last episode never will
- Why did it never occur to ANYONE to try escape to the real world? - Why is Haru the only one who can change the stage? - Why do only certain characters become self-aware and not others? What's the criteria for becoming self-aware? - What is that portal thing? - Why did Haru disappear and lose his memories in the first place? Once Dan Oh lost her memories, why did it never occur to Haru that he must have died in the shadow back then? Why doesn't he want to know how he died? - Why did this amazing show transform into a draggy melodrama in the second half?
It seems it's common knowledge that Baek Kyung's brother is the writer, which makes me wonder why he's in his own story as an extra. The character in which he's most invested, Baek Kyung, is also shafted as a supporting character. It *seems* the writer just wants a happy fantasy with the family he has in the comic, which probably mean's he's lacking one in real life.
Plus, he definitely hates Dan Oh lmao. He made her a supporting character with a heart condition in Secret and had her killed by her own lover in Flower. Like his family, I wonder if he's projecting onto her someone he knows (knew?) in real life whom he liked and then his brother or a Haru-like figure stole. The writer's pretty much using his omniscient powers to enact a revenge fantasy in both comics.
There's a certain irony to appreciate that he's a lowlife asshole, yet is an infallible god in the comic world whom characters can do nothing against, and even lose their lives/memories as punishment when they try to resist.
ooh so according the press con, the drama merely took the base of the webtoon. that explains why the webtoon readers…
Is it the Korean webtoon readers or international readers who don't like the drama? I get the sense that international readers are more accepting of the drama because it's a different but creative adaptation.
I really don't like kyungs character, I've never really liked those that try to force their feelings on someone…
People have been loving abusive characters since Mr Darcy... we are brought up to love abusive male characters because they portray strength and stability... unfortunately, even if people recognize how abusive this archetype is, they can't stop liking them because it's literally ingrained since birth...
BUT the least they can do is acknowledge that this archetype shouldn't be romanticized instead of coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why he deserves to be with Dan Oh because he's oh so conflicted and "deserves" her like she's a chicken buffet dinner or something
When Baek Kyung was doing the voiceover saying that extras can change the main stage, it showed the new girl whom Dried Squid Fairy knows from the old story. Baek Kyung can't use Haru to change the stage, so I'm guessing he'll manipulate her to do so and this will make Dried Squid Fairy snap.
idk about you but I am down to see Baek Kyung's smirking face smashed in
