I also stopped watching this drama for a few days after I reached episode 8 too, but episode 9 was one of my favorites and I got really invested after that lol. I hope you get the chance to continue this drama soon~

When she first found out that he was an aid to the marquis, she tried to buy his friendship with gifts but he declined, so she created rumors about him which put his life at risk.
When he went to visit her at the Zhen Tower, she made him wait for hours on purpose so he finally left after drinking 6 pots of tea. She was so upset by this that she went out of her way to buy all of the coins he was looking for so he would be unable to get any without going to her to beg for them.
She's just very immature and I hate the childish mind games she play.

I was just about to write about her because I completely agree with you. She's very immature and narrow minded. When she's happy and gets her way, she rewards you. When she is slightly upset, she will go out of her way to sabotage you. Instead of communicating, she goes straight to retaliating. That is not "love", that isn't even "like." This is the foundation of a weak relationship and being affiliated with people like this is so toxic and exhausting. I understand everyone have their own selfish agendas in this drama, and I understand that she is a princess so being arrogant and stubborn is probably in her nature, but so far I'm not really a fan of her character.

I don't understand the criticisms about Liu Yu Ning's looks tbh because to me that man is so fioneee lol. His aura commands a room. His talents are undeniable.

All of the actors are doing a great job and I'm very satisfy with the performances in this drama. <3

I once thought that the actor who played Wei Yan was miscasted. now I can't imagine anyone else playing his character. there is so much sadness in his eyes. without saying much, you can literally see how tortured his soul is. these most recent episodes were heartbreaking to watch...

at the same time, I love how close our main couple have gotten despite all the senseless schemes against them. one of my biggest pet peeves in dramas is when there is lack of communication and the misunderstandings drag on forever so I'm glad the writers aren't entertaining that bs here.

same! he is my favorite character in the drama so far. I didn't expect much from him but he also took me by surprise when he revealed how observant and smart he actually was. can't wait to see the man he will become (hopefully he remains an ally.)

I binged 10 episodes in less than a day and I just finished ep18 - so gooddd. I don't know why I was so hesitant to get into this drama. Now I'm wishing there were more episodes out so I wouldn't have to wait. 😭

I really liked the way they handled that scene in this drama because a lot of times people dismiss SA against men and make it seem like it is no big deal. But they didn't do that here. Wei Shao was visibly hurt by the betrayal of his own mother. He was so ashamed and embarrassed that he wanted to run away from home. ManMan recognized this and she reminded him time and again that it was not his fault. She was so protective of him that she even went against family etiquette by raising her voice and calling out her mother in law.
They might not always see eye to eye, but it's nice to see a couple that defend and protect each other the way Wei Shao and ManMan do for each other.

I feel so creeped out by the fact that his parents were actually skinned !!, disgusted by the evils of the villains, and also so heartbroken for Zhi Nu. The way he bawled while he held both of the sleeves on his parents' clothes... it was like watching the broken little boy trying to find comfort in his parents again. May he pay this pain forward to all his enemies 100 times over. I can't wait to see them suffer.

This drama is HEAVY. I enjoy it while I'm watching it, but I'm also anxiously stressed out the entire time. And when I take a break from the drama, I have to give myself a pep talk to get back into it.

I completely agree with this take. Despite his shady introduction to the story, I actually really like Yan. He's a pitiful and layered character and I can't help but feel bad for him.

They're from the same clan, so they're all most likely relatives.
