manman and da qiao are first cousins, their dads are brothers. in Chinese culture, family is extremely important so you will basically refer to your cousins as your siblings. manman and da qiao were raised together in the same household so they are supposed to be especially close. manman's uncle, da qiao's father, is the leader of qiao clan.

Originally, XQ and WS did agree to send out an invitation to DQ and BZ. But fake fated empress Yulou schemed and accused the Qiao clan of trying to kidnap her. WS sided with Yulou because of his history with her and he rescinded the invitation. XQ's hands were tied so she couldn't do anything about this at first, and by the time XQ proved Yulou's accusation to be untrue, it was already too late to send another invite to DQ. So it wasn't out of malice, it was just a really difficult situation and DQ misunderstood.

DQ grew up with XQ, she should know her sister better by now. If XQ didn't invite DQ and BZ to the deer hunt, it is probably not personal. Maybe XQ's hands were tied or something was truly wrong. How is DQ gonna hold this against XQ as if XQ was just being petty for no reason. We're talking about the same XQ who sacrificed herself so that DQ can be with the one she loves. It seems she don't understand her sister at all.

It's crazy to me because their homeland is literally about to be invaded and get taken over. DQ's brother (cousin), father, uncle and friends are all there (I think the mom is still in Boya.) They will most likely die if Yanzhou falls. And yet DQ is too scared to risk a fight for them even though XQ sacrificed herself for DQ's happiness. I understand that we aren't all fighters but it still makes me disappointed in DQ.

Just finished ep 29, and... wow. What an amazing episode, the best one yet.

We finally got what we wanted, but at what cost, friends?
Which one of our faves will have to pay the price for the director and writers blessing us with a moment of happiness?

Gonna go back to rewatch this episode so I can giggle, scream, and cry some more. 😭

He is a good actor, an amazing singer, AND I can't stop staring at his face because despite what the haters say he is very handsome so I'm glad he's getting more projects lol.

And I didn't know that Eternal Brotherhood is coming out so soon, I'll have to check it out~

This drama is actually one of the fastest - if not the fastest - dramas to hit 30,000 on the heat index in 2025. It's very popular. My understanding is that there are a lot of trolls in China who feel like the main male lead isn't "handsome" enough for the role so they downvote base on hate instead of substance / quality. I'm sure there are probably other reasons why people want to rate this drama low, but as always, there will always be differing opinions on whether a drama is good or not.

So satisfying!

I absolutely love it when Wei Shao reminds us why he is the most powerful and feared warlord of his time. That scene when he punishes Yulou, Yulou's cousin, and Manman-wannabe? 💋🤌 Wei Shao might be a softie at heart but fk around with his family and you'll find out real quick how deadly he can be.

this is true. at one point, I even went as far as theorizing that the masked man is a high performing zombie who have free will and that is why he is covering his face lol.
