Justice in the Dark lol, but it's only because TPOB is almost done airing.

Tell me why The Prisoner of Beauty getting removed from the Top Airing Shows in China chart on the MDL homepage made me so sad lol. I know it's ending tomorrow, but damn they didn't even give us a minute to gather our feelings. Our drama is really coming to an end. 😭

I liked that the FL used her bratty attitude to try to keep ZH away from harm's way today though. She failed, but that was still very sweet of her.

I think ep 1 and episode 9(or was it 11?) really traumatized me.
When we witnessed the massacre of ZH's entire family - it was so hard for me to watch his little sister die. I kept remembering how she was trying to play with him / share her sweets with him and how he brushed her off because he was angry with her. I hated how that was their last mundane moments together before everything went to hell. As an older sibling myself, I just know ZH is filled with so much regrets and he probably lose sleep over this every night.
And then that episode when we find out that the marquis skinned ZH's parents and kept their skins and clothes in his dungeon as trophies... I was sick to my stomach. It's disgusting how cruel humans can be to one another.
When I think about these things, I want the marquis to die a painful death.

But I gotta confess, there are moments when the marquis let his guard down and show vulnerability towards ZH and ZZX that makes me question if he can still be saved lol. Which is why I think the marquis is such a well written villain. Even after all he has done - and he has done a lot of horrible things - he still manages to make the audience sympathize with him.

I laughed when the marquis said that because Zang Hai has been running circles around him for 24 episodes straight lol.

And I'm in the same boat as you. I hate the marquis as a person, but I like him as a character. I still want him to die a painful death, but I hope he makes himself useful to ZH first before he goes.

I've been really enjoying ZZX's arc, and to me, he is one of the most compelling characters in the show. He went from being an useless spoiled noble kid to an invaluable player who might change the entire fate of the game someday. He might be the son of a psychopathic murderer, but out of everyone in the Zhuang family, I think he is the only one that still has a good heart. Deep down, he just wants to be loved.
When he aligned himself with ZH, a part of me wondered if he'll betray ZH someday. And after episode 24, I'm almost certain he will. Him coming back home with his squad to save his father was orchestrated but him jumping in front of his father to take the blade in the chest was not. He didn't even hesitate to give up his life for his father because he didn't want his father to die.
ZZX blames his father for his mother's death and he won't ever forget that, but his father is also his last remaining parent. These past few episodes, his father have been kinder to him as well. Even though we - the viewers - know that the marquis is only acknowledging ZZX because ZZX is now useful to him, to ZZX this is a glimmer of love that he hasn't received since his mother passed away.
I don't think he will be capable of killing the marquis when the time comes, so there are only two paths from here: either the marquis become good and team up with ZH or ZZX will eventually betray ZH.
It's going to suck if/when ZZX switch sides because I really do like rooting for him.

Overall, the story just became that much more interesting and I'm here for it.

Just finished EP24, and I have some thoughts on Zhuang Zhi Xing:

You're not alone, I was crying too. It was great writing, directing, and acting from everyone during that scene. Amazing work by all. <3

Wei Shao have a short temper and is too blunt for his own good sometimes, so it can be a bit frustrating, but I like that Wei Shao can reflect on his mistakes and apologize. It's much better than MLs who think they're always right and refuse to change.
I also like that Manman is able to understand Wei Shao when he's upset, realize that he is only speaking out of hurt, and be patient with him. She has also hurt him too, and he has also forgiven her.
I love that this couple don't hold grudges for long, and always try to clear up any misunderstandings between them. They are really good at communicating.
We are all flawed, and they are both learning to be better lovers for each other.

To me, it really happened too. I think maybe he just said it was a dream because it was too good to be true so he was trying to convince himself that it wasn't real, but they really kissed.

I might be wrong but I'm gonna stick with this belief lol.

This made me teary lol. I used to be a MDL lurker. After each episode I watched, I would come here to read the comments to see what other people were saying. I didn't even have a MDL account lol. It was TPOB that convinced me to sign up and join the discussions. It really was an honor chatting with you all about this beautiful drama and I hope we will meet again in the comment sections of other dramas after TPOB end too. <3
