Yes, I did try to watch The Demon Hunter's Romance. I loved the cgi and costumes in that drama, but unfortunately I didn't finish it. I heard that a lot of people loved the drama despite the sad ending though. :)

You're not alone, I was a mess after Wei Liang's death too lol. Like you said, it hits especially hard because of all the broken promises and regrets that are left behind. We are all the same as Wei Qu - we just wished that Wei Liang was home and he never went to Yanzhou. 😭

Same. We knew the truth from the start, because there were so many signs, and yet that death still managed to break our hearts. That's how good of a character Wei Liang was. He deserved better. 😭

Yesss. This! I love that despite TPOB having dark themes, it never once felt suffocating. I'm able to rewatch the drama many times without being overwhelmed by all the tragedy within the drama.
The drama is a romance and not a comedy, but it have the right balance of seriousness and lighthearted moments.
It's going to be hard to find another drama as captivating.

Lmao. It doesn't help that it came out at the same time as TPOB so I couldn't help but compare the two.

I haven't seen the most recent 4 episodes of Legend of Zang Hai (gonna put it on hold for a bit), I tried watching Youthful Glory yesterday but did not like it, so now I'm rewatching TPOB from the start again lol.

Fair enough. I did not like him at first either. He was insufferable lol.

She wasn't happy to accept the proposal. She did it for her sister, so her sister could be with the one her sister loved. And she did it for her people, to give them a fighting chance of survival from the main guy's wrath. Her "smile" was a fake one to reassure her grandfather that everything would be okay because she saw the look of concern on his face - that much was obvious to 99% of us viewers.

And no one is saying the main guy isn't allowed to be angry with the Qiao clan after everything he has been through and everyone he has lost. None of us viewers have forgotten about the betrayal that led to three generations of Wei being slaughtered or expect him to accept her with welcoming arms right away either. Hell, we feel the resentment too. The point of the story is, are you willing to let hatred consume you until you burn everything and everyone in your path? Or are you willing to heal from your pain and choose a life of love, growth, and happiness?

You just barely started the drama, how do you know that she took advantage of his love? She never once did that. Although she wanted her family to be safe, she never once told him that he had no choice but to do what she wanted him to do. She protected him as much as she protected them. If you think that the main girl is someone who will seek out unthinkable revenge on him if their roles were reverse, then you clearly didn't pay attention to the drama at all.

The story isn't just black and white, and if you would just give it a chance - a real chance - you would see that.

I don't really understand the purpose of watching a drama out of spite just to prove yourself right. What is the point of torturing yourself over something like this - no one is forcing you. I think if you are going to watch a drama, the least you can do is be open-minded and see where the story takes you, but that's just my opinion.

omg yes! early on in the drama, I was so impatient for more story progression that I also started reading the novel too. and much like you, I prefer the drama lol. they did an amazing job adapting this story.

it is unfair to say that the main guy is justified to treat her horribly based on the actions of her grandfather but she shouldn't react negatively when he treats her horribly for things she didn't do. The main guy literally tricked her, kicked her out, and sent out a kill order on her. She is valid to feel upset. I think these two characters are two of the most understanding and patient love interests in any cdramas. They have a lot of respect for each other and even when they don't always see eye to eye, they rarely disrespect each other or let others disrespect one another.

TPOB has raised my standards so high that every other drama pales in comparison now. I haven't been able to enjoy anything since I finished TPOB. Is this what it's like to be a crackhead? I'm forever chasing that high...

There will be people who try, but all will fail to insert themselves into the main couple's relationship.
