Thank you for your review. I'm dropping this drama at the sixth episode because the gore scenes looked rather fake to me ( I have seen better ) and the plot and the acting is exactly as you described it.
VKO Jun 6, 2023
Your review is completely inaccurate. The props look fake and the plot is rather boring as it reveals the culprit very early on. I'm a step before dropping this drama out of pure boredom.

Review Kairos
Actually, as a native speaker too - assuming you are one - I'd like to add my two cents.Kairos in ancient greek,…

I mean he had cancer in the throat area… making him smoke would have been utterly ridiculous. But it’s cool…
It is not the nicotine that harms but the smoke it self.
But there are fake cigarettes out there that look like real, have a light at the edge and produce just steam. They could use one of them instead of getting into the trouble to add non existed cigarettes on each and every of the scenes that he is supposedly smoking.
Alternatively they could make the character not smoking at all something that would set a good example for the viewers.

I saw him in roomates and in another variety show.He was just a normal boy.I liked his natural face better in…
What does "haters" mean? You have to know someone in order to hate him.
In this case we don't know this guy, who can be the most likable guy in the world in his private life, but we are just criticizing his work. Or better say the product of his work that it is his presence and his acting, because that is what actors "sell". Their presence and their acting. They don't "sell" their real character, or their privater lives ( and it is wrong when they do so IMHO).
In this particular case this guy has messed up both his appearance and his acting and by the time that he chose a profession that exposes these two things, all kind of criticism is rightful and valid.
As for me, I don't hate him. In fact I used to like him.
I watched only the first half of the first episode of the TONT 1938 but the quality is so low that I didn't even consider to spend more time watching it till the end.
We have an expression for this kind of sequels in my country, we are calling them "grubbing" which means taking, milking and exploiting whatever you can from the success of the first movie or film.
That is the case with this third sequel.

I totally agree with you. I can't figure out what is going on with this guy but his emaciated over done look is not something that I like.
I don't watch his dramas anymore because with all this botox that he has injected in his face he is unable to act as well. Nothing moves in his face.
Keep in mind that it is crucial for film actors to be able to move all the muscles of their faces because the camera zoom on their faces and can catch the micro expressions that enhance the actors performances on camera.
It is the opposite of the theater where the actors can play wearing a mask because the audience can't see their facial features.

Title Three-Body Spoiler
I've read the book first (since I try to always read the original material before watching an adaptation), so…
Thank you for not spoiling the second book because I haven't read it yet, but the first book and particularly the series fail to explain how Evan's manage to contact in the first place the Trisolarians ( what technology and what information he had in order to know where to send his messages ) and of course how he manage to do so that fast. In the book it says that he contact them, but it also says that Ye Wenjie doubted that he did so, because each and every message needs 4 years to get to its recipient.

Aside that the whole subplot with the sophons is stupid because there is no realistic explanation about how and why the Trisolarians figured out that Earth is that right place for them, and why they didn't kept the proton unfolding technology that could cover their whole planet in order to protect their planet from the Three Bodies ( suns) effects.

That is the reason why I've said on my review that the Trisolarians had a technology that it could have solved some of their problems but they chose for some unknown reasons to not use it for their own benefit but invest on this technology in order to send two sophons at Earth. And all that while they didn't even have yet the technology to travel faster towards Earth and the next disaster of their planet was imminent, and the Earthers can destroy themselves during the 450 years that the Trisolarians were going to need to reach Earth.

Generally speaking the whole plot though it is full of very good ideas is a mess. Is over complicated and lacks of persuasive explanations on the most important plot topics.

And all the above are not even made clear in the series.

Title Three-Body
I've read the book first (since I try to always read the original material before watching an adaptation), so…
The series is based on the book and follows the plot of the book closely but the book is a complete and utter mess.
Though the author of the book had a load of good ideas, he was obviously unable to manage his material, and he mashed and messed up everything.
I 'm saying that as someone who has read a lot of sci fi literature, including The Foundation book series, The Dune book series ( all of them) The Expanse book series, the majority of Arthur Clarke's books, Stanislav Lem's books, Isaac Asimov, Aldus Haxley, Philip Dick, Douglas Adams and so on.
The plot of the Three Body Problem is self cancelling, because there is no sci fi plot at the very end as all and everything end up being an assumption of its fictional characters. It is supposed that some hostile Aliens are going to come in a 14 human generations ahead time frame, but the book and the series fail to explain how the characters came up to this conclusion by the time that they have exchanged all and all four messages that all of them were supposedly exchanged between the aliens and the obviously psychologically disturbed character of Ye Wen Jie.

After finised watching, I still confuse what's going on. The first two eps got me in, but the rests were really…
Nothing is going on. Whatever you see is just what the Earthers and particularly the members of the ETO organization ( that you can call it a conspiracy theorists' organization turned into a cult) are assuming about the Trisolarians' whereabouts.
As I wrote on my review there is no sci fi plot at all, as all and everything that takes place on Earth can be explained with very logical terms while the supposed hostile Aliens are nowhere to be found and in any case even if they exist their ill intentions are going to trouble the Earthers 13-14 generations ahead in the future!! If we haven't manage to exterminate ourselves in between time of course. lol

His acting was just fine. I don't know either what forced him to alter his looks particularly by the time that he was either way very popular.
It is not that he didn't have already an established career in acting and in modelling in order to change his physique.
Not to mention that even if that was the case and he didn't consider his appearance as marketable, he started way to early to alter his looks. Men are in their prime during their 40s because they still look great at this age and they have that touch of maturity that makes them very handsome.

Please I’m laughing 😭 but yes I totally agree to what you said
His acting career will suffer because it will be very difficult for him to un-typecast himself. It would be like starting his acting career from the very beginning as he will have to change again his looks in order to appeal to some other age audience.
Which is not that easy in such a competitive profession because the majority of the actors of his generation have already move to the roles that appeal to the audience that corresponds to their age and appearance. The 40+ year old audiences don't watch the fox with the nine tails dramas...!

Title Night in Paradise Spoiler
I do feel like the main characters had a bit in common. They both lost their family due to the gang. The FL had…
Yes but they didn't have any reason to help each other. And the movie didn't show them have any feelings the one for the other. In fact they hardly knew and they didn't appreciate either each other.
He in particular didn't actually have any reason to help her and he could deal with the gang with other ways instead of going there to be beaten to his death.
His supposed sacrifice is not justified by their relationship - that is what I mean- and that spoils the supposed drama of that scene because it leaves the viewers wondering if he is stupid or he just has suicide tendencies! lol

I didn't like Bad and Crazy either because he was cast on yet another crazy guy role. That of the psycho dark goth type... he has already played this role a trillion times.
It might have looked fine when he played for the first time this role but the constant repetition is not creative and the constant typecasting doesn't advance any actor's - not only his- career.
The versatility is what makes the/any actors evolve and makes them famous.
Unless an actor decides to play only character roles, playing for instance always the villain, or always the grandmother etc.
There are actors that are doing this job. They are taking the support character roles. But this is usually the case for those who don't have the good looks to be able to play the main roles or they don't want to trouble themselves for the main roles. The support character actors never run out of role offers and in some cases they earn more than those who play the main roles.

But this is not the case of Lee Dong Wook who is standing somewhere in between and he is abusing his appearance in order to appeal to way younger than him audience instead of taking now the roles that correspond to his age group, I mean the roles of someone in his 40s that would appeal to the audience of this age. Instead he is stuck with the fantasy roles that appeal to teenagers, who will abandon him eventually soon as there is constant "supply" - to say so- of young male actors.

I know that it sounds discriminating but age DOES matter in acting. There is nothing more unappealing and cringe worthy than middle aged actors trying to play the teenagers or trying to appeal to teenagers and discard good roles for the sake of doing so.

I've brought earlier the example of Park Hee Soon who was able to boost his career by targeting the right age group, mature people 45-65, playing roles that interest this age group. He plays the mature guy, not a fox or the EMO FGS!! lol

Someone accused him of buying propofol (illegal in SKorea) since 2021 and using it on a regular basis for non-medical…
I'm not the one who is spreading any rumors. The contrary I'd say. I'm of the opinion that this guy has been addicted to the painkillers that he probably took when he was diagnosed with a bone tumor. Bone tumors are bone cancer you know, even if they are not malignant and they cause in all their forms extreme pain. The painkilling drugs that are given with prescription to cancer patients ( of all kind) ARE addictive particularly those that are based on opioids.
In any case, as it seems this guy needs help and not contempt.
lo_ve Mar 21, 2023
Has he convicted for substance abuse or something?
How is it even possible that investigations and in some cases just even rumors to undermine the careers of young people?
Not to mention that addictions of any kind require support and understanding towards the addicted persons because most of the times addicted people are victims not criminals. The last thing that addicted people need is to contempt and ostracize them from their jobs and society in general.
But anyway.. this guy hasn't convicted yet for anything. He has not even accused for substance abuse yet. It is not that there is an official case against him. So what sort of reaction is this by KBS?
