What a talented actor is the young guy who plays Sugano! He plays the villain almost psycho character so well that makes you want to kill him yourself! I've put him in my favourites as I believe that we are going to see some very good performances from this guy in the future.

This drama is actually a slightly altered remake of the 1974 film Death Wish. More details about that film you can see here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Wish_(1974_film).
In both films the protagonist is an architect who has been trained as a hunter by his father and gets in the streets to revenge the assault of his daughter while police is after him to stop him.
This version of course is a bit altered in order not to look so much as a plagiarism and to fit into Japanese society and laws but the main plot and concept of vigilantism when the laws and the police don't serve justice as they should, is all about the same.

Title Night in Paradise Spoiler
Maybe You don't have the brains to understand it I guess that's the reason why it didn't make sense to you 😂😂…
You don't give up your life because someone is polite to you and respects your private space, neither because someone shared with you his favorite food!
These two persons had actually nothing in common. It is not that they were a couple or in love, ( in fact he didn't even like her attitude), they were not friends, and they didn't have anything in common on their dealings with the gang.

Another article came out, there is cocaine and ketamin involved now...
That is called Special K. It is a mix of cocaine and ketamine which is a performance booster like amphetamine but stronger. It is also very difficult to detect it because it doesn't change the behavior of the user. It just improves the strength of the user who can keep on going for five days without eating or sleeping ending afterwards in a state or zombie.
Special K says that someone is forcing him to work really hard.

I was beginning to think MDL's "not interested" list was useless. Guess not. ;)
No it is a very useful list. But not for this movie.

Excuse me but this guy suffered or he is still suffering from bone cancer. That is the reason why he was exempted from military duty after all. Because they found a bone tumor. Bone tumor = bone cancer in other words his days are numbered....
Now marijuana is used for controlling chemo therapy side effects and propofol can be used as pain killer ( it is a sedative actually).
So what are the SK media and Netflix accuse him for?
They accuse and contempt a cancer patient for using drugs?!!!

well maybe you should've finished and your rating would be higher
Even if I finished watching this drama would that have changed that the judge character acts illegally and out of order? Half of her cases could easily be challenged as mistrials because the judge got involved in the investigation and the prosecution.
Judges are not Prosecutors. That is the reason why there is clear distinction between these two things.
The Prosecutor presents the case at the court, the Defense is there to present the case from the point of view of the Defendant and the Judge is judging the evidences and decides if the Defendant is guilty or not.

That is the base of the Western Judge system.
Both sides are represented at the court and the Judge with the support of the Jurors in some cases ( that they represent the opinion of the Public) give the verdict.

In this case the Judge is also Prosecutor and Investigator that is illegal. So I can't help but feel sorry for these kids because even if they have something, anything going for them, there is no way to be heard at such kind of court.

The court of the prejudiced judge who is all about everything. Investigator, detective, prosecutor and judge all in one! lol

That's a bit harsh, but you are entitled to your opinion. Though perhaps you should copy paste this into your…
No it is not harsh. It is the plot actually! By the end of this drama you realize that whatever they shown us is just an assumption. Ye Wenjie says that clearly at the 29th episode where they ask her if they have communication with the aliens and know their whereabouts and she says that they don't.
She says that they've lost the communication and they have no idea about their intentions. If they are coming or not, if they were destroyed or embarked to their travel towards Earth or whatever else.
They have no clue. No communication nothing at all. So whatever the ETO plots or is doing on Earth it's their own doings based on what they assume. Not on facts. It is not that they know something and act accordingly .

He might have a very nice character and charming personality. Do you think that those who are fat and not that…
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder....which means that perhaps he looks really handsome to her. He might be her type. What's wrong with this?
Or he might be a very good lover. I can tell you from my own experience that the guys who are not very handsome are better lovers because they try more, and they are more caring and affectionate. She is the pretty and he is the loving one. How could we know what binds two persons together and why are we so judgmental about the appearance of each person.
It is unfair in my opinion to judge the other people only by their looks. Like we are nothing more than our appearance and when that appearance is gone we become nothing.

Yeah... go on MDL.. Support the gossiping celebrity S. Korean culture.
How dare she to date the fat and ugly "bad" guy.....!!!

But what if it turns out that this guy is innocent of all what they accuse him and hits the gym and starts dieting hard and transform himself into a prince?
Then it would be alright to date him? Or she will be stained forever by associating with him... ! lol

This article and the whole story is SOOO WRONG in so many levels.
So backward and malicious in its concept...

Give us a break! Please... show a little mercy!

I'm just shocked she dated a blob of fat.
He might have a very nice character and charming personality. Do you think that those who are fat and not that good looking don't deserve to have beautiful partners? What sort of discrimination is this?
I'm asking because I find completely hypocritical to claim that we support body positivity but only when we are dating people that are not prettier than ourselves....

The cause of all their problems is that they make public their private lives. Why did they have to announce that…
It has nothing to do with respect. The whatever fans they have are for their acting work not for their private lives....!
Their private lives ( marriages, affairs, partners, children whatever) is what the term indicates. PRIVATE and should remain private.
If they don't make it public themselves, no one else is going to do so.
Replying to didichan Feb 20, 2023
poor guy cant catch a break
The cause of all their problems is that they make public their private lives. Why did they have to announce that they are going to get married? Why did they mention who are going to marry?
Or their pregnancies, their children, their relatives as so many of these celebrities so often do.
Acting is a profession at the end of the day.
Do you know any other professionals that are so keen to publicize their private lives, their affairs etc?

Fantastic but no scifi fan should watch this!
Because at the end you realize that there is no scifi plot at all.
Or to say it better the whole plot is cancelled.
Why? Because there is no story at all.
The people of the ETO don't actually know the whereabouts of the Trisolarians. They don't even had enough information about the Trisolarian planet to start with. Their communication stopped at some point and they haven't received any other messages.

The virtual game sub plot is just an assumption, in other words how the people of ETO imagine how the Trisolar planet is and not how actually is. Because they don't have any information and no communication with the Trisolarians.

So they don't know if they might come or not, they don't know their intentions, they don't know if they spy the Earth or not. They know nothing.

So what is left? An underground organization of conspiracy theorists who though they don't have a clue about the Alien civilization of Trisolar, have already been divided in three different fractions and they operate like a terrorist organization.

And what we see happen is actually the global aliance of governments trying to deal with that terrorist organization.

The Aliens are not here and nobody knows if they intent to come jere or they got destroyed before leaving their planet, or they got or will be destroyed at some point while they are travelling, IF they are travelling.....!

In other words the Scifi plot is not in this Scifi drama either. It is gone, it has been cancelled.

If you continue watching you'll see that some characters (Ye Wenjie in the first place) say pretty harsh things…
I would definitely read it but later on as I'm trying to finish the series. But the series is sluggish... I'm watching the 15 th and I'm skipping scenes...
Why did they bother to add this damn game.
It is the most useless part of the book and the series. It is completely pointless. Watching the game scenes is a waste of time as it doesn't advance the plot because it is just a game that doesn't give any accurate and real information to its players. It is not that is going to make them more competent in their encounter with the Trisolarians, when and if the latter will be able to approach Earth!

If you continue watching you'll see that some characters (Ye Wenjie in the first place) say pretty harsh things…
The fact that has been translated doesn't change the fact that is clumsily written and leaves undeveloped the most interesting themes.
It is certainly fantastic on regard of the amount of the ideas that the author had, but the problem of the author and the book is that he couldn't manage and prioritize all these ideas that he packed them into the book.

The most interesting part of the sci fi plot that could explore for a start, is the juxtaposition between the two civilizations, the Earthen one with the linear progress and the Trisolarian one with the corrupted and in "episodes" progress, and how this can affect the culture and the attitudes of the people of each civilization. This has just been ignored. Though that could have been the most interesting part of the book. In Earth we don't preserve what we already have because we consider it as a given, while the Trisolarians were trying to preserve whatever they could because they didn't know when the next disaster would hit them. Their culture is the culture of imminent disasters. How could a culture like this bother to inflict disaster on another stable and paradise like ( for them )world?
The history of Trisolarians as it is presented in the book cancels their present day actions.
You can't get with this historym, this kind of attitude as a result, if you get my point.
And this is one of the themes that is pushed aside while there are countless chapters wasted in order to narrate how the players of the game would solve the Three Body Problem ( that is probably already solved in Trisolar planet) and the background story of just one of the characters that is melodramatic and at the end of the day is in the past. The author could have tell this story in one chapter.

Anyway.. I'm a big fan of sci fi literature having already read Dune, the Foundation, all Isaac Asimov books, Arthur Clarke, Philip Dick, Stanislaw Lem and I can tell you that this is not a well written book. It is a gook full of ideas but with problematic execution. And it is not a good source material for the series. unless the writers of the series took a load of liberties which they didn't.

I have read they adapted the Chinese version of the book where the Culture revolution was in later chapters of…
Whatever is the case the book and as a consequence the series give way too much weight to the Cultural Revolution flash back and the Virtual Game sub plot that are both not important for the progress of the sci fi plot. The Cultural Revolution is the past of one of the characters and it should be mentioned but not exhaust the reader and the viewer with it, and the Virtual Game sub plot is completely pointless because it is what the Earthers assume that Trisolar planet is and not what Trisolar plane actually is. As you have already read in the book they didn't have that much information about the Trisolarian world because their whatever communication and messages had four years delay on both directions.
So in the in between time the Trisolarian 200th circle of civilization could easily end. The Trisolarians were unable to predict accurately when the next disaster would hit them. They could have protect themselves on the surface of their planet from a point and on but they couldn't protect their fleet or their accelerator or whatever they built on the space.
This theme wasn't developed on the book. Neither the fact that they might have not being able to reach Earth either because the Earth would have cease to exist during their 450 years of travel or because we'd destroyed it or due to environmental reasons.
Anyway... my point is that there were a load of interesting science fiction themes that could have been explored, and the writer stuck with the Game and the Cultural Revolution.

The series is extremely sluggish.
