What sort of end was that!!! The lazy stupid and incomprehensible end spoiled the whole drama. I was about to rate it with 9,5 because I liked the plot and the plot twists but the end was so lame that I'll end up rating it with a mere 7. So disappointing.

What gives you the right to say to other people what they are allowed to state or not state on a public forum? Where does all that entitlement come from? Are you so entitled because your parents are cinephiles and collect movies? Or perhaps because I challenged your notion about Takuya Kimura's beauty ? ( loooool Sorry ... I can't). Is it the internet yours or something and I have to ask for your permission to express my opinion?
Dropped on episode 15 as it is extremely sluggish with unlikable characters. Mark Ciao plays his role like he is high on something, or in a total Nirvana with a slight smile in his face and somewhat posh manners, no matter what is supposed to be going on and though he works in his uncle's company that is subsidiary of a larger company he looks like he has more money than anyone else. His uncle looks like he doesn't have enough money to pay his dinner while the nephew is dressed with fashionable clothes and lives in a super modern apartment that is not justified by his position in the company and not even the company's finances if we judge it by its offices. Anyway.. with this that I got extremely bored and I couldn't bare to watch this for another 25 episodes. The main problem of Chinese dramas is their length and the sluggish, slow development of their plots.

Trying to persuade me that I should find him handsome because some others find him handsome is the most irrational thing I've ever seen. Do you often waste that much of your time trying to persuade completely unknown to you people on the internet to like whatever you like? Just pause for a moment to think a bit about it.
Miss S is a bit overdressed most of the time. Ok... she is supposed to be a glamorous. modern and fashionable woman but I think that they have overdone it with that character's fashion choices. She is wearing evening dresses in the most inappropriate situations. She is wearing for instance see through laced dresses when she is visiting the morgue, and sequin dresses at a murder scene! lol And the Chinese style dresses she wears are waaaay to revealing. A few anachronisms on her shoes too.

I insist on my first comment. I think that you confuse his talent and onscreen charismatic presence with his looks. If he wasn't such a good actor or a celebrity and he was just the guy who lives next door, I bet that you wouldn't give him a second glance.
But that is not a disadvantage for actors let alone good actors. The best actors and actresses are not those who have a model like appearance and that is the reason why some of the most beautiful actors and actresses won awards when they dared to spoil their looks in order to make their viewers focus on their acting performances and not on their looks. A very characteristic example of an actress that has gorgeous appearance but she got an award when she spoiled completely her looks on screen is Charlize Theron who is objectively beautiful ( objectively means beautiful in absolute terms) but she got her first award for her acting for the movie Monster (2003) where she is unrecognizable. They did whatever they could to make her look ugly. You couldn't see Charlize Theron the super beautiful actress and model on screen but somebody else.
Same applies for Takuya Kimura. He is not objectively handsome but he is a great actor, a natural on screen, and charismatic in the way he delivers his roles' lines and that is the reason why he became so famous. His fans btw didn't try to imitate his natural appearance, but whatever he wore, his hair styles etc. It is not that anyone tried to change his teeth to look like Kimura's to give an example. And that shows beyond any doubt that he relates to his audience because of his imperfections, The average viewers are not perfect after all. It is the film industry that promotes some completely unattainable standards through the actors and actresses appearance. But anyway. The very good actors don't have to be very handsome or perfect in their appearance. They only have to be very talented and charismatic in front of the camera. And Takuya Kimura belongs in this category. The guy is super talented. Not super beautiful.
Now if you find him hot or sexy or whatever else that has to do with your personal preferences. Perhaps he is "your type". He is definitely not my type though I have watched most of his films and dramas. Not because he is hot and sexy but because I like him as an actor.
Chinese keep on making fantasy films and dramas while they are completely unable to make any decent CGI. The effects of this drama look like Z class 90s PC game and this as a statement is probably a euphemism ....! lol Is it that difficult for Chinese studios to train appropriately their CGI technicians and artists or to hire some foreign professionals?
Perhaps there is a problem with your internet connection. Did you try to use a VPN? I've checked on dramacool and I saw that they switched to the 30 episode version of this drama that it was already appropriately subbed in English. So the streaming should be working. If there is no problem in your internet connection and dramacool is not blocked in your country then try to report the problem to the dramacool people.
Very good lighthearted with a bit of rom com elements. The detective stories are not particularly complicated or scary and there is a continuity on the development of the FL character. So don't expect a hard core crime drama. They have done also fantastic work with the recreation of the era. If something frustrates me personally is to watch dramas depicted in past eras full of anachronisms both on the sets or the characters. I mean to see past eras' characters behave like modern characters. The FL for example is never violent as it should have been. She is very smart and witty and lady like and the most extreme kind of action by her is to climb on a window or threat someone with a gold gun. But you will not see her punching anyone or use martial arts to throw down all the male population. And this makes the series historically very accurate because that was how they ladies of her class and status behaved back in the 1930's. I would recommend to watch it. It is now available with English subs on Drama cool.
I've found it at an almost dead torrent and it took me about week to download it due to inconsistent and poor seeding. I have the 95% of the 30 episodes version with English subs . But it is watchable ( except some glitches here and there because I'm missing that 5% that comes down veeerryyyy slowwwww). But it is watchable. I'm seeding it of course.
Ha.. that's great. Last night that I've checked this out it had not subs. I'm already watching the 30 episodes version ( the one with the longer episodes).
Loved watching this on HBO Max (I’m in the US if that helps)! The Miss Fisher show is a great template, but…
I agree. It happen to watch simultaneously Babylon Berlin, a German production set at that era, and if for one thing Miss S nailed the depiction of the historical setting without any kind of anachronism that could spoil the whole thing. I have no opinion about the story plot yet as I'm still watching the first episodes. but this is a very promising drama.
Ok... this is a really good drama. If for one thing it has a great production and very accurate recreation of that specific era at this specific place. It happened to watch simultaneously Babylon Berlin that it takes place at about the same era ( late 20s early 30s ) and I have to say that Miss S production team avoided at least the extreme anachronisms and recreated some very realistic, though on the more glamorous side, sets. I can't say that much about the plot as I'm still watching the first episodes but it looks quite promising to me.
No. It’s all false info by the government likely trying to shift the blame off of themselves. That being said,…
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I'm pretty sure that they will not make any inquiries about the causes by the time that the event didn't have an organizer. :(
So disappointing.
