Not a lot of romance in his next projects🥴 I am not sure if it’s a right move from him and for his career…
He never acted in many romance dramas lol it's not just his future projects. aside from You Are My Hero, I don't think he has any other straight up romance dramas where he's the lead and even that drama focuses on the leads' work/occupation.
I think his lack of romance dramas is why he's sort of underrated with international audiences. Amongst c-netizens, he's actually one of the more higher rated 90-line actors. Hope more international audiences recognize him.
yep I was right. the criticism is all surrounding male lead's voice so far. even "hippo" trended on weibo yesterday because they think his voice sounds like one lool
I think this drama has a lot of potential to be a hit. The SFX in the preview looks good (wayy better than the other Xian Xia that's going to be airing on tencent starring YCY) and this is going to premiere on two TV channels at the same time as its web broadcast. That is huge for a drama like this since TV reaches a broader audience.
The biggest question mark right now based on what I've read on Chinese social media is the male lead's voice. He won't be dubbed and there's people complaining about how he sounds in the previews.
Why did they cast someone so much older than Baijingting? Plus this is supposed to be a young girl role. Song…
yeah... she's not a bad actress but she looks her age and this character is supposed to be young. BJT also has a baby face so the age difference is going to be even more apparent.
I like the leads for this drama. Both are good actors who can act without dubbing. The only thing I'm worried about is the director. He isn't really consistent and most of his recent dramas haven't done well.
Any updates/estimates if this will be released in Q1/Q2 this year?
can't possibly be in Q1 since filming only ended mid October. Summer would be the earliest imo but that's a prime slot and I don't know if IQIYI might want to put a bigger production there (like the Yang Mi one)
this drama is the only thing because discussed on forums and places like weibo right now. I'm just learning that Netflix is making an adaption too but for some reason the main cast is mostly non-Asian?
I really hated how the 5th prince was repeatedly physically abused by his wife and the writers clearly intended…
honestly the 5th prince couple got way too much air time and was a big reason the middle section of the drama dragged. they already showed him chasing after her once. we really didn't need a second time.
it's not the type of drama that will appeal to younger audiences lol but the director and writer are both very good so it's a really good opportunity for a young actor like BJT.
I'm obsessed with him lately. he is a really good actor. I kind of wish he acted in more historical dramas (I'm not into modern cdramas) because he only has two and only one where he's the lead.
there is not enough otp moments!! I swear the two leads have the best chemistry I've seen in a cdrama in ages. I think the political subplot falls a bit short so I would've preferred if they focused more on romance.
Also, I am definitely going to follow Bai Jingting's career from now on. He impressed me so much. He brought so much life to this character. Also, I was extremely impressed with his voice. I think only people who understand Chinese will get how impressive his line reading is. Most Chinese actors rely on dubbing or if they dub their own voice, they are terrible at line reading. BJT was honestly as good as professional voice actors.
I just started watching this! I finished the first episode and I love it so far. It's light hearted and kind of reminds me of Dream of Splendor somewhat.. I think it's the filming style.
Swords of Legend made him extremely popular. He was one of the earlier "liuliang/traffic stars" like what we see…
nah China always had handsome and talented actors. I actually don't think liuliang stars are that talented or attractive lol they just have very effective marketing teams.
tbh I'm suspicious of most 30+ year old actors who are long-term "single" or have few dating rumors. these guys are mostly cowards who don't want to have public girlfriends out of fear of losing fans so they seek no strings attached relationships with escorts instead. I remember Luhan lost a lot of fans when he went public with his relationship with GXT but looking back on it now, he is so much better than these guys who cling to a single image in public.
Never thought Li Yifeng a talented actor (sorry fans). Wonder why he had become so famous?
Swords of Legend made him extremely popular. He was one of the earlier "liuliang/traffic stars" like what we see with Xiao Zhan, Gong Jung, etc today. I'd argue he kicked off this kind of stardom. He was also very successful in movies and won some major acting awards (although I think he's kinda meh at acting).
At least, he is not too traffic for this time because there is more popular actors in cdramaland nowadays. Just…
I was gonna say.. it's a good thing he doesn't have a lot lined up because it'd suck for others. I hate when entire productions get shut down because of one person. I"m still annoyed I won't get to see the Nini/Denglun drama.
