I wonder why it's not even showing up in the "top airing dramas" list on the main page of mdl even though it has more watchers than the dramas in #4 & 5

I agree about marketing, it almost feels like youku is scared to promote it in China because of the subject matter.

I caught up to episode 6 so far and I really like the cinematography. It almost feels like a movie rather than tv series.

he didn't have many scenes in the first two episodes tbf lol it's easy to mistake

the ones they've dropped on streaming sites unannounced are usually webdramas. this drama was filmed for tv broadcast. I wonder if it won't happen now :/ webdramas don't reach as wide an audience as tv.

it dropped randomly on youku streaming site without any promo wtf is this still going to be aired on tv? it'd be a shame if it just got dumped like this

this is standard cdrama cgi lol it's one of the reasons I rarely watch Xian Xia. the bad cgi always takes me out.

if I treat this drama as a tragedy, then it gets a 9/10 from me. however, if I treat it as a romance, then it gets a 5/10 lol LCY is the absolute worst male lead ever and I cannot understand anyone that tries to romanticize him. he's an antagonist imo.

it's the hair, I think. he has a long face so he doesn't suit long hair. he looks better with his hair up like in GMP.

this summer has been pretty bland for cdramas so far. only love like a galaxy has aired so far and I find that one boring so far. all the xian xias keep being rumored but don't have set release dates. this one looks more interesting than usual costume dramas and now it's gonna get edited even more.

same! most of his recent dramas are contemporary and this is the only costume drama one so I'm waiting for this

I liked Chen Xing Xu a lot in GMP but idk about his styling here.. he looks kind of weird.

it has the same production team but I don't think it's connected. the plot reminds me of an old cdrama I watched

do they portray the japanese in a positive light or something? because there are soo many c-dramas and movies about that era. I don't understand why this drama is suffering so much

there was a chart posted on chinese sites about IQIYI's 2022 line-up. the earliest this can broadcast is Q4. although it hasn't passed censorship yet so we'll see.

homophobia? lmao this isn't bl. the reason it's being held up by the censorship board is because it deals with undercover cops. apparently CX's character is on drugs too while undercover. CCP is sensitive about anything that portrays government officials as bad guys.

why does it say part 1? when is part 2 airing?
