it's not about being good looking but the image of both sang zhi and jiaxu. i personally love the casting bc he became one of my faves since our secret and i didnt read the novel at that time bc im looking forward for the drama and dont want to be disappointed cuz i rarely like an adaptation if i read the novel first.

for zxw, he is one my fav too but he just has cute image that it's hard to shake off so i dont see him as sang yan either

he still does in ep19 😭 but he is a demon so it's understandable? that's why jing is the most deserving of her but tbh i dont really mind whoever she end up with despite them deserving her or not

to me the end of ep20 is the most impactful and saddest so far, weird i guess. because there are tons of crying scenes but from the moment xiao yao and xuan talk about going back to xiyan with teary eyes 🥹 and xiaoyao saying, "cang xuan, let's go home together" i strongly felt something. probably got reminded how their story start in xiyan, how they got separated, and now going back together again and knowing how they ended it just...sad.

seeing a glimpse of what xuan went through just by the shove of his uncles and understanding why he is the person he is now, he choose the path of being stronger and ruthless to protect himself, things and persons that matter to him. that is what his grandfather taught him to, that he cant achieve that by kneeling (ep1)

i love the difference in these leads characters potraying real life of human growing up with the things they went through during childhood. some people managed to stay kind while others opt to become something else that are not so pleasant

they were cousin in the novel but they are not blood related in the drama. zhuan xu is the name he will use when he become emperor i believe. as for the trailer...i have been wondering too if it for censorship why not just keep it in the drama as well? why make it confusing for viewers so who knows? probably that scene really exist in the future ep
