i would advise everyone to form your own opinion if you debating to watch the show, to some people this drama is like one of the best they ever seen and to some it doesnt worth it but just bc others like or dislike it doesnt mean you will share the same sentiment, so just give it a try to watch a couple of ep to see if it is to your liking and decide.

personally for me, i saw ppl on twitter complaining about the drama but praising second couple (which i love) so i decide one day to just try watching it for the second cp. but i was hooked since ep1, i did not expect to like it, but i love it a lot! especially the main couple i just end up adoring them more than the second cp. you could say i watch for lusi but comes out as reba fan so this drama is very special to me bc it is one of the rarest drama that truly make me feel smth and cannot stop watching. up to this day, no historical drama ever give me the feels i felt during this show. the drama is definitely flawed but what matters to me is this is the drama that evoke a lot of feelings from me which many of more well written drama fail

so just try it for yourself and if you dont like it, then it is not for you. there are many popular drama with people raving about their chemistry that i end up not liking too and it's fine. we all have different things that touch on our feelings

he is my favourite character but i'm not really in any ship. i'm one of those that are fine with whoever xiaoyao end up with, either xuan, xl, jing, fl.

but tbh it would be more tragic if she ever love him romantically once, and they later have bad bloods well that was my first impression from the trailer anyway 😅

distrusting is his nature. he is not doing that just bc xl is his enemy he doesnt trust xiang liu enough not to have any hidden agenda by helping xiaoyao (eg secretly want to kill her). plus precisely during that talk and sword pointing that he mentioned about concealing the news of her death, so it only make sense why he is suspicious about xiang liu having knowledge about it, and that's where he learn about the poisonous bugs. p/s he ask about the killing before he drew the sword.

even if the guard was there, not even once xiang liu was stopped the guard pretty much follow his walk instead of becoming an obstacle 😂 sorry found that scene a bit funny but it make sense in that context bc he is a demon, their known enemy, they cant just let their guard down, hence why the guard still guarding against him but at the same time letting him walk through.

as for the power, he has the resources and people for that. logically, why should he drain himself too in this critical moment? jing was alone in the fire with xiaoyao, and i dont doubt at all that he would ask ppl to give power if they are also around, and xiang liu said he can help her but xuan never know what kind of help xiang liu giving. all cang xuan able to do is provide the power he had - the spiritual power and resources eventho it comes from other ppl. why is it consider lesser than what others do? he was ready to risk himself in the deadly formation when they found xiaoyao, do you think that same person would be stingy not to give his spiritual power? his action for that particular scene to me more like think smarter and not harder.

yup just curious but someone else replied about the birthday party scene which was omitted from the drama but my guess is they will probably show that scene from mu fei's pov

tbf you are right but that is where his power comes from, why is it seems to look more noble for him to give his spiritual energy when he has the people and the resources for the spiritual power?

xiang liu is his enemy fgs someone who plot his death it is only normal for him not to trust xiang liu easily. as xiang liu said, without him giving all the spiritual power to xiaoyao even he cant save xiaoyao so even if xiangliu had arrive, w/o cx doing what he did, xiaoyao couldnt have chance to be saved

absolutely she loves all three men in her own way but she clearly likes jing the way a woman would towards a man. her giddiness with him, her jelousy, her getting hurt by him, her getting shy, aint that all signs of liking someone? why are people ignoring that is beyond me. i dont doubt at all that she occasionally attracted to xiang liu and likes him but i dont think she ever let her heart and brain entertain that thought so the feelings kind of blocked by herself to me. but it was pretty clear she is into jing, cares about xiang liu and love cang xuan with all her heart but it never goes beyond family type of love.

respectfully, she doesnt know his feelings. she was never commited to xiangliu she has only given her promise to TSJ she owes him nothing.
