bc sangyan is HUGELY loved and first frost is a very popular romance novel. they think his visuals doesnt fit sangyan visual as described in the novel, he was said to be tall (taller than DJX, and this is probably my intepretation but when i read it i definitely think sangyan is more handsome than DJX, but it's been long since i read the novel, that was just my impression when i read it.

as for me personally i dislike that they made him a comedic relief character instead of retaining his aloof, nonchalant sarcastic self, i do see part of that sangyan in HL but it wasnt a constant state, sometimes the drama made his as a comedic relief which kind of ruin sang yan image to me. Sangyan is funny but he is not funny in a comedic sense if you get what i mean, he is funny in sarcastic nonchalant way. I enjoy victor ma potrayal but it was hard for me to adjust to that sangyan at first. I would definitely love it had i not known anything about sangyan in first frost

different production. it is a common occurence in chinese drama and first frost is a huge IP, they need to also do well rating wise and also not to offend novel fans so much since sangyan himself is a popular character (hence victor ma was originally criticised for playing sang yan bc sangyan is one of most loved fictional romance BG male lead)

the similarities between hidden love and first frost are the character, sang yan parents, sang yan sibling (sangzhi) is the FL of HL, sang yan college friend (duan jiaxu) is the ML of HL. besides that, there i dont other recall similarities, simply said it was just a shared universe bc the character exist in another novel. First Frost timeline start when they were in highschool and continue till they enterworking life. Which Sangzhi was still a child when they first met and she about to enroll for college iirc, when she is chosing which university to enroll, yifan and sangyan already live together.

i have only read first few chapter but it is the manhua that got me start reading the novel bc sangyan art is just too pretty then i proceed to read the novel bc i feel that their story are much deeper in the novel and i was right, deeper as in more details since there are more writing so i got more feels reading the novel 😊 no wonder i saw that the manhua has been updated thought she already came back from hiatus

on ep7, as much as i understand mu qingge i kind of blame her for the start of their misunderstanding, she could at least defend him in front of suyu, just say anything in favor him, it doesnt have to be exaggerated, just something that draws the line for suyu to stop talking shit about yishui (heh im actually her irl why are we so weak to defend things we disagree with)

the last immortal maybe not so much but very recommended for ALP if you want to see how OG yuemi and tianqi interact, their original characterisation and their backstory. their arcs are genuinely so good

tianqi (jingyuan) character was so good. ik it is basically standalone, they changed things but tianqi is such a silly character. he and yuemi (xingyue) is basically bickering partner, he is so lovable, cute and entertaining so if they followed his original characterisation for jingyuan later (in the drama as i dont read the novel) idt it is such a loss bc frankly i like tianqi more than fanyue 😅

they did his character so dirty 😭 the eye colour was already great and chang huasen did good job too to potray his moli evil side but they had to ruin it with the cgi. i hope it will get better in the future 😭
