Im pretty disappointed. Currently at ep15 and i still fail to see the spark between the mainleads. The plot pacing is also too slow it makes me get impatient to get to season 2. Honestly i hope the modern one would give a different vibe. I generally could care less about romance, but problem is the show seem to spend so much time trying to push the mainleads’ attraction for each other and leave out the plot’s pacing. When the plot is put on hold to make way for romance and yet the romance aint romancing, the show comes off boring and empty instead. If not for Forever and Ever (the modern setting of the novel, which is where the main plot actually is), i honestly wouldve dropped this show before i reach Ep10.

Something that he only get to enjoy for mere 1-3years cannot compare for the decade that the empress dowager spent to raise a weak and coward for an emperor. His will is weak, capability much weaker with zero foundation and self confidence, hence we get the puppet that can easily be used and discarded by the villains. Honestly i feel sorry for the emperor. He’s born by the wrong parents. He’s simply not leader/emperor material plus he’s only 19yo when he was k!lled by his own mom. Still so young.

The novel is set in modern era with their ancient life as FL’s flashbacks, and this season 1 goes at a rather slow pace that i keep hitting the ff button, so I kinda cant wait to get to season 2. But then again i noticed there are a few changes from the novel made in this adaptation, like the marriage swap, and the addition of Prince Fengyang, so I guess I’ll have to stay on so I wont get too lost in season 2 due to the changes. 🤷🏻‍♀️ currently at ep 9 i wish they add more action to this one so it wont get too boring.

He’s raised to be a puppet emperor, his mom or anyone at all never taught him true leadership and governance, cuz they needed him to be constantly dependent on them. An independent and reliable emperor wont be a good puppet. That’s why he’s the way he is.

I hope you enjoy the novel as i did. For me, after reading the novel i could not help be extremely disappointed in the adaptations. The production failed miserably at adapting the masterpiece of a novel, even Princess Agent that i once saw as a masterpiece failed the novel. I am still hoping for somebody to produce a remake that is faithful to the original source, and not hire screenwriters that butcher the plot like princess agent and rebirth had.

Honestly I think theyre just hating because the original cast of PA didnt come back for this. Plotwise Rebirth is okay, definitely doesnt warrant such a low score of 6.0 now. Yeah the last 10eps or so were bust but come on, the rest was really okay.

Maybe it goes back to the sense of fillial piety that i saw very much ingrained in ancient chinese culture. Wang pu has a fillial piety responsibility towards his parents (though he never knew or saw their faces) but he also has a sense of the same responsibility towards Yan Fengshan whom he considered as a father for saving him as a child (Yan couldve left him for dead) and raising him. So i guess since he could not bring himself to kill the only parent he knew, he also realize he could not live knowing that that parent had killed his real parents and used him all his life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There’s an episode 29 with only 11minutes showing the possible survival of Xie Huaian. They never showed his face but the bodyframe, skin and voice is obvious it’s him. I couldnt understand why he’s behind bars tho 😅 i am actually here lurking in chats and discussions to see if anyone had analyzed the ending.

It sounded so unique. I like this dialect. Puts him in the spotlight cuz how different he talks from the rest.

Definitely worths it. You can read my review, select most recent instead of most helpful, my review is right at the top. It’s totally an exhilirating ride. The action is top notch. Romance is mild (no kissing or making out whatsoever, a total mature romance) which is just the way i like it.

Hahahha ikr right! Gimme 5. As traumatizing as AJtL had been, i actually rewatched 3 times 🤣🤣🤣 twice of those until ep37 only before the main character’s death. Had enough of those during the first 2 watches 🤣 and watched princess agents 5 times esp the ice lake scene cuz that was the moment xing er truly regretted her decision to stay with yanxun and showed compassion towards yuwen yue. I read the novel 5 times too 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that was how hard it was for me to move on from the two titles.

You definitely have more patience than me. I can never stand the annoyance if i had pushed on. I’d be cursing all throughout the show and the rating couldve been even lower 🤣

I realized I mostly dropped shows when the FL is too much of a damsel in distress with stupidity, clingy and naiive package. Also when the romance got too cringy. I can never put up with those. Good luck to you!

Can anyone tell me what dielect does Su Zhe used? It sounded like cantonese but the words are obviously mandarin. It couldnt be taiwanese, is it?

Ikr! The character is so inconsistent! At least you managed to get to ep20. I can’t even force myself to continue after the supposedly lightning tribulation for Tingyan on Ep17. How the heck did this piece of damp cloth get powered up when she’s always get beaten up all the time and ML keeps saving her? The only progress i see up to ep17 is how theyre getting better at making out in bed. That’s all there is to it.

I agree. Love doesnt need to be portrayed by physical actions. I liked Fight for Love and Luoyang’s kind of mature romance where the couple doesnt need to cuddle or frenchkiss everytime they meet. I even fast forward when the romantic scene gets too cheesy. It’s the plot that counts, not how many times the lovers pounce at each other.

Ooh Aimi finally taking up lead role! I first saw her in My Journey to You then Whispers of Fate, I think she’s cute and possesses quite a talent too! Cant wait to watch this.
