I know i had a hard time moving on from A Journey to Love and Princess Agent cuz of their traumatizing endings. But honestly after the character slaughter in A Journey to Love, no on-screen deaths affect me as much anymore. So the ending here is okay by me hahaha. Too bad for Gao Bingzhu though, but he’ll live well.

No bromance. Just like partnership. Both ML and SML have their own love interests.

It’s not a remake. It’s a sequel. The other title was Frozen Awakening which might signify Chu Qiao regaining her memories again. It could also refer to Zhuge Yue’s rise from the frozen lake. But anyway, from what i read it is a sequel where they picked up from the ice lake.

If only minglan wasnt too long, i wouldve rewatched it too. One of zhao liying’s best.

Yeah i know the story was halted due to the plagiarism case, and could only continue now when xiao xiang dong er finally made changes to the novel omitting the plagiarized parts. Ive read the revised version, it was really minor and posed little change to the story. Im just a bit mad that the case concluded too late and made it impossible for the same cast to take up the sequel. But honestly for the sake of the novel, I dont mind the new cast. Im just concerned with its heading cuz i heard there wont be any romance between xing er and zhuge yue. Id be devastated if this were true 😭 they are my fav fictional couple of all time 😖

The open/sad ending i mentioned earlier was about other adaptations. Some productions deliberately change the ending when it’s a clear happy ending on the novel, just so it would linger on audience’s thought i guess. It’s a real bummer, especially when the ending had been beautiful in the novel.

Yes exactly. They did go celebrate the lantern festival together (but zhuge yue still tease her coldly a lot gosh) after they got reunited. It’s like walking down the memory lane watching legend of shen li. I think it became my most fav series of Zhao Liying’s.

I never liked Yanxun so even before i read the novel, i keep telling myself that she was only with him out of pity and love for a best friend instead of a lover. Glad he turned evil afterwards so that its easier for her to leave him. 🤣

Youre right, princess agent left me traumatized for so long, until i finally found the novel. To this date ive readthe novel 5 times cuz it was so hard to move on from Princess Agent.

But at least we know the production did not purposely do that just so people would remember it. It really happened in the novel. What i hate the most is when the adaptation decided to make a sad/open ending when it was clearly a happy ending in the novel, just so people would talk about it. Real cheap kind of marketing.

This can only be confirmed by reading the novel, in the very chapter when they had their first night. Zhuge yue was surprised that Xing er had been a virgin and he actually thought highly of Yanxun in this regard because he himself wouldnt have had such restraint. You can read it again.

Yes Xing er did sleep next to Yanxun at times but they just lay there together and did nothing intimate. And Yanxun did mention it to his subordinate that he wanted to wait until their wedding. But then the ice lake happened and they fell out.

I hate reading raw MTLs cuz theyre really hard to follow. The same character can have multiple names then id be left confused what was i reading about. I really wanted to read Monarch Industry (the rebel princess) but they only have it raw MTL without editing, and i gave up after ch9. 😵‍💫😵 the novel Zichuan (purple river of the eternal brotherhood adaptation) i can only read up to Ch 3. The translation are so messed up.

What did you mean “FL sleeping around”?

Xing er never slept with Yanxun, neither in the novel nor the adaptation. Her first ever (and even the next ones) was with Zhuge Yue after they got reunited, and even then it happened years after their reunion (although still before marriage) which is when they figured out their feelings for each other

Yanxun was lonely i guess, and he obviously doesnt get along with the other noble youngsters who are mostly depicted as wayward. ML being the mr ice that he is, just played along. 😆

I still see the friendship as pointless especially it was not so in the novel. In fact YX only saw YWY as a rival in the novel, so the deep hatred was kinda understandable especially when YWY snatched CQ from his grasp in the end 🤣

Basically Princess Agent was a botched adaptation with considerable plotholes.

Watching this for the third time ( i first watched this during covid lockdown in 2020) to refresh my memories before Rebirth gets released.

But then i saw someone commented on Rebirth page that there wont be any romance between chu qiao and yuwen yue 😭 i was like, what the heck. all the frenzy after princess agent’s cliffhanger is because the FL and ML never got together, and they decided to give us that for the sequel? The second part part the novel after the ice lake is what really hooked me on the novel cuz my fav couple finally got together and yet youre telling me they wont even do that for the sequel of princess agent? 😭 im so mad that theyre going to botch the novel all over again.

I agree to all of that!! Oh lord so many things is messed up with this adaptation. In the novel, Yuwen Yue was never friends with Yanxun. I dont know why they decided to make them become best of friends, i guess just so there’d be more screen time between Yanxun and Chu Qiao? But that doesnt explain it either cuz all of their key interactions (the washing by the river, the lantern festival incident, the cave on the side of the cliff, the escape plan) still happened in the novel despite Yanxun not being friends with Yuwen Yue.

I am currently devastated because somebody revealed that there would not be any romance between Zhuge Yue and Chu Qiao in Rebirth 😭 they really botched the novel big time.

I always wondered how did Legend of Chu Qiao 11 Division Special Agent became Princess instead. 🤣 thanks for the lengthy explanation. Although i read the novel 5 times, it never occured to me that the princess could be because of her title bestowed by Tang kingdom after her fall out from Yanxun.

Hahha Zhao Liying is fav actress of all time (other than Zhao Wei but thats a different generation altogether), but i had to agree with your ranting. They really did the adaptation rather poorly. When i read the novel cuz i could not move on from the cliffhanger ending, i was so mad cuz the novel was a thousand times better. How did they botch it so badly? 😡

Hmmm, the princess agent adaptation didnt follow the novel’s plot to the T, and since this rebirth/frozen awakening picks up from where princess agent left off, we cannot really say how the story will unfold.

In the novel, Chu Qiao was a transmigrator, a super spy agent - a commander at that - from modern world who transmigrated to this ancient world upon her demise. This is how she turned out to be very good at all those spy thing and military tactics, with her fighting ability even better than Zhuge Yue. In Princess Agent, Chu Qiao was the daughter of the head of Yanbei’s spy agency, who lost her memories after she fell off a cliff into the river during her fight with Yuwen Yue’s father, and later came under Yuwen Yue’s tutelage when she served as a slave in his household. At the end of Princess Agent, her birth mark fired up when she jumped into the icy lake to save Yuwen Yue, maybe awakening her powers bestowed by her mom before she died in her last mission. Zhuge Yue in the novel was just a noble who has supreme talent in military and martial ability while in Princess Agent he was in charge of the kingdom’s spy network, that is a rival to Chu Qiao’s mom’s spy agency.

But if they follow the novel’s plot loosely, Chu Qiao will fall out from Yanxun cuz she couldnt forgive him for setting up Zhuge Yue. While the rest of the world believed Zhuge Yue died in the icy lake, he would actually be saved by one of his Yue guards, goes to Mount Wolong to recuperate with his master, and later hide out in the desolate Qinghai, the barren land at the corner of the central plains where the kingdom’s exiles are dumped to. With his talent in military and governing, he will eventually become King of Qinghai after turning the barren place into a haven with bursting economy, and will secretly save Chu Qiao quite a number of times by aligning with Xiao (Li) Ce. They will find each other at one point after the icy lake incident (if im not mistaken, 2 years after in the novel), get hooked up, get married quite a few years later while navigating the politics in the kingdom and neighbouring kingdom Tang (Liang kingdom in the adaptation - Xiao (Li) Ce’s kingdom).

The novel had an extremely happy ending for the main couple. I read the novel 5 times cuz i couldnt move on from Princess Agent cliffhanger. 🤣

what i love the most about the novel is that Chu Qiao ventured out quite a number of times to lead the Xiuli army into battles, one time even while she was pregnant (but she only knew this quite later during the mission), and Zhuge Yue although very obsessive with partiachy ideals, has never stopped her from doing what she needed to do. Gosh i love this couple so much. Their subtle warm up to each other after she found out he was alive was the sweetest part of the novel. I really hope they follow this line at least.

But then again i just read some of the comments here, and they said that the production claimed that there will be no romance between ML and FL. Oh lord will I get disappointed even more than how Princess Agent did me? 😭

Im on ep 20 now oh lord liu ran is so irritating. I pity her character as she keeps begging for Baili’s attention, but i just canttt stand them being together. She’s too clingy and it’s as if her script only has the word er lang on it. I ff most of their scenes cuz they look pointless and a waste of time. Cant they just do off with the romance like white cat legend? Who says ML and SML needs romance for a story to work?
