Oh lord Ashes of Love - i didnt like the FL too. First off she’s just plain stupid. Second she’s too naiive and easily manipulated. I was so glad when the ML started to hate her after he rose from the ashes. Serve you right, girl!

But at least the FL in AoL was stupid so thats why she’s easily misled and manipulated. Whereas this Xue Man was supposedly to be brilliant detective, so whats her excuse to fall into the concocted narrative? So I am even frustrated by this character much more than AoL’s FL hence dropping it. That stabbing was too unnecessary and cheap drama. I hate this type of misunderstanding trope too. Had she been written to be just a normal colleague and not ML’s childhood sweetheart with such deep emotional bonding, the misunderstanding wouldve been a wee bit believable. But she isnt. So the misunderstanding became incomprehensible because she shouldve known better.

Before i read the novel, i thought Princess Agent was good too 🤣😝 i rewatched that bloody adaptation more than twice cuz i was so in love with Xing er and Yuwen Yue and so devastated by the cliffhanger ending. But when i read the novel, i immediately thought the adaptation was rather bad, cuz the novel was soo much better 😂 Zhuge Yue (the real name in the novel) was not as clingy as the adaptation Yuwen Yue (cuz their lives as master and servant was when ChuQiao was 8yo and Zhuge 13yo, so the guy was only interested in ChuQiao due to curiosity and not romance). Chu Qiao was also not as dependent on Zhuge as a servant as depicted in the adaptation. It was really good, but a little bit dark (it had children mutilations and deaths in the earlier parts of the novel when ChuQiao first reborn into Zhuge household slave’s body)

For Princess agent please dont get fooled by the adaptation, it was really bad. The novel’s FL was a transmigrator who was a secret agent who died on a mission. She was never trained by ML (as depicted in adaptation) and was very much more capable than shown on screen. The novel really redeemed the shortcoming of the adaptation, im glad i found the novel. Was hoping the sequel Rebirth /Frozen Awakening wont be as bad as Princess Agent wrt novel’s faithfullness.

Btw i love RenXin and Mo Qingchuan too!! Too bad they were not based on a novel else i wouldve definitely looked for it, cuz Qingchuan’s ending was too abrupt and not as satisfying while A Journey to Love’s was too brutal. I was so traumatized after A Journey to Love, took me some time to move on from it (i kept rewatching the best parts before the couple’s demise)

I am in love with strong FLs too. My personal favourite is Legend of Chu Qiao/Princess Agent by Xiao Xiang Dong Er. I read this one 5 times cuz the cliffhanger of adaptation Princess Agent was too unbearable and the novel was too good.

Other novels with strong and capable FL that I’ve read are Legend of the Female General, Kill Me Love Me (this became one ofbmy fav because it only had 24 chapters 😆) and Fighting For Love. These have FL who doesnt need constant saving by ML. I am in love with Blossom’s Dou Zhao too but sadly the Blossom novel was rather bad so i would never recommend.

The longest novel I’ve ever read was Fight Breaks Sphere it had 1.4k chapters i think. It was good but it also made me avoid novels with over 200 chapters. I quit Guardian of Da Feng novel after 400+ ch cuz i couldnt handle the ML’s lecherous nature, and later i realized it actually had 900+ chapters 🤣🤣 glad I quit.

With Blossom i initially thought it only had 100 ch so I thought, why not? Then I realized the webpage where i read it from had incomplete chapters 🤣 but since I’ve already started, i just had to finish cuz i wanted to know the ending.

I usually read the novel after i watched the adapatation too, mostly when the adaptation had parts or ending that im not satisfied of. With Blossom, it’s because i picked the novel up accidentally that i just had to watch the adaptation, with hope that they did better than the novel. And they did. Yay. Haha.

Yeah i advise for those who havent read the novel after watching blossom adaptation just skip it and not waste time. The intimate moments were written so cringily, and the storyline is haywire with so many sideplots. It’s 523 chapters after all, so imagine how many sideplots were thrown in. With good novels i usually cant get enough of them and feel sad when i reached the ending, it’s a total opposite when i comes to Blossom novel. I just couldnt wait to get to the ending and felt relieved when i did. Am glad the drama did an amazing job with the adaptation, omitting all those senseless plots and characters. And since the same director gonna do ZhuYu im convinced it’s gonna turn out as great as the novel is. The Zhuyu novel is mostly good minus the beastly character of ML in later parts of the novel.

He obviously didnt want her to go because they both suspected something is going to be wrong on the boat with her father’s weird interactions, he just didnt want her to endanger herself is all. And the murderer wouldnt have reacted all confused and unable to speak when he is found. And again if he was the murderer why would he serve himself on a silver platter to her when the murders started again, when he couldve conveniently escape them undetected? Nah her character just didnt add up to the supposedly bond that they had shared all those years, her deductive mind shouldve taken over had she scrutinized the boat scene and the previous ministers’ murders again. So nope. The character was written weak and just doesnt live up to the backstory. Although I have to agree ML did land himself in the precarious situation with his pride and cockiness.

I’ve already dropped this anyway. Can’t stand her and i dont like wang xing yue enough to continue watching.

Is there any action here, or is it just romance and drama?

Lol action/wuxia fan may love LotFG more than this type of investigative drama, hence the rating. Im one of those kind and only picking this title to fill in the time as i wait for all episodes of shadow love to be released. Already thinking of dropping this if the FL keeps on being mean to ML, as if the slow pace isnt killing me already.

Her suspicion irks me so much. For a woman who grew up with a man who was her childhood sweetheart, fellow disciple and later became her husband, she sure is pretty quick and ruthless to suspect him just like everybody else who didnt know him as well as she did. It’s beyond me that all those years she never even thought that there could be somebody else inside the boat who boarded earlier than everyone else. Like seriously? And to stab him on the very first encounter? Seriously girl, you never ever thought that he could be set up? And you call yourself a detective. Yep kill first ask later definitely works. Did u really think he’s psychopathic enough to escape a crime scene, lay low for 3 years and then serve himself on a platter for you to slaughter after committing 3 crimes that he shouldve easily walked away from? Oh lord! The misunderstanding annoys me so much. Im contemplating whether to drop this or not cuz FL character bothers me to the max. Currently on ep 4. I know i wouldnt want to continue to be in a relationship with somebody who didnt trust me and have my back when things go south like if im getting set up for a crime. Duh. Even thinking about the two getting back together make me roll my eyes.

I am watching this one cuz i am waiting for shadow love to release all episodes 😆

Well at least the only cringy part in Zhu Yu was how the ML turned rather intimately fierce after he realized they had feelings for each other and when his real identity as the marquis was revealed. So it’s like in later part of the story. Always kissing and biting her forcefully whenever he sees her 🙄 it’s really excessive and unreal that the FL gets swollen lips and bleeding shoulder every time they met. LOl ive been bitten and bit my husb’s lips too but come on they never got swollen (yeah thats probably cuz we never got carried away to bite til bleeding i guess, we weren’t a pair of wolves after all 🤣). Thats why i said these writers write as if they were never in a relationship and never had s3x, and their only source is p0rn 🤣 wait til u come up to the part when he starts biting until bleeding, enough time reading that you’d go 🙄 at each scene. 😆🤣

I like strong possessive ML and FL who doesnt get pushed around by the other half, but still indulge the other half when it’s appropriate. And punishing in bed when ML is mad at FL is downright disgusting. I noticed many chinese writers likes to write violent s3x scene as if it was supposed to look sexy or somewhat 🙄it’s like trying to show the ML’s prowess in bed (that the writer may only be able to dream of), going on rounds and round throughout the night until the woman begs to stop cuz it was hurting her. And the FL, no matter how strong she is or how good her martial art is, always on the losing side. Gosh. Horrible fetish on the writer’s part. 🙄

many of such scenes that ive read, the writer made it look like the FL is only doing it to make the ML happy or to appease his anger, and that they never felt any pleasure of it. It’s like the writer has never had s3x or has ugly fetish about s3x. Or maybe they just watched too much p0rn. Gross. For example in Zhu Yu, ML likes to bite FL’s shoulder to the point of bleeding so many times in the novel (this happens frequently even when they weren’t having s3x). 🙄 it’s like reading a wolf mating instead of a human.

Lol i was curious too. I’ve only seen her in guardian of dafeng and boyohboy i really despised her character there cuz she was too clingy, bossy and acted too cutesy. 😂😂 but since the novel says fan changyu has the appearance of a natural beauty with innocence, TXW definitely fits the bill 😆 curious to see how she pulls off the strong as a bull thingy. Plus she’s supposed to look fierce with deathly aura when she was slaughtering pigs (and the enemy on the battlefield) hahaha

I have a problem with men who makes his woman cry and beg to stop during s3x just because theyre mad at her, so yeah I hated the ML in later parts of the book. Same with that bast@rd Wei Shao from Prisoner of Beauty novel. It’s also the reason why i couldnt finish reading the novel Story of Kunning despite being only less than 20 chapters short from the ending, cuz i was disgusted with the ML. Well basically i was disgusted with the writer most probably. 🙄 Not sure if i’ll ever watch the adaptation (story of kunning) though I know they most likely changed the nature of the ML for the screen, like they did with onscreen Wei Shao. it’s a weird fetish for anyone to force themselves on another, even if it’s their wife.

But with Zhu yu i’ll definitely watch, since they wont show s3x scenes on screen 😂 so the monster wont show up.

If you love xu kai enough, then this is definitely a yay. Go for it! If i can endure FL as somebody who doesnt have any sentiment towards xukai, you definitely can. 🤣

But i had to admit i fast forwarded many of their romantic scenes during their arguments cuz i feel ML was soft and too accomodating to her tantrums. Ive already submitted my review. U can read. Hahaha.

Finished it an hour ago. Gosh i really had to endure through her tantrums. The only thing that kept me going was Xukai and the ending. I wanted to know the ending, and it didnt disappoint 😂His performance was explosive. Btw im not his fan but he really nails it here.

So youre really dropping this? Im still preservering. 😆 she deceives him too damn much and he keeps giving in, but somehow i can still see that she likes him very much. Dang i dont like this FL character but her cunningness is interesting to watch. Im waiting for the point where she’s the one to be lovesick puppy and begs for ML’s love, that would be a true payback. Am sick of watching the guy falling head over heels for a girl despite the girl being mean to him. Too cliche.
