I think her walking down the aisle with her eyes closed might be linked to what she said in ep 22...the portion where she told him her heart is blinded the moment she met him.

I don't know why the reason for the eye surgery was random. I thought it was because he missed her so much, he wanted to be in her world...to see what she sees?

I've never been so angry after watching a cdrama before. Series wants to be light and fluffy then stay that way.…
Yah, I can understand your feelings. They shouldn't introduce a plot that they can't deal with it properly. It's like that in the novel so the writer didn't give justice to the condition. You can tell all the diagnosis and how the friend talked about it really tried to make it a non-issue.

I thought the portion about his eyes was a trick to get WY back to Xiamen. I don't think his eyes really hurt.

WY got better. There was a portion the friend bade her goodbye in the hospital. But it was so brief, I don't blame many people missing it.

As for Xiao Wei, he has a mother and I guess family in this drama. He was at the school for treatreatment and he did get better. In the novel, he was adopted by NQ's parents.

Me too! I'm rewatching the 3rd time! I think I'm mesmerized by Evan Lin as the ML and their chemistry and the OST. I even went to read the novel more properly again.

I went back to read the novel and also re-watched the drama. I think it's a combination of both...loss of WY and the need for her plus the pressure of life. So in the drama, there was a sense of urgency when he thought he was losing her. And I felt his ability to see added to the pressure cos he wanted to advance (maybe to make up for the losses). Xiao Lu said he was more impulsive after he regained his sight. Plus he is not the typical smooth male so he doesn't know how to woo properly. So he tend to impose himself on her. She on the other hand was used to his ways in the past so probably accommodated but did say it was annoying.

They should have changed some things or lines in the 1st half since they were changing the 2nd half. Cos in the drama, we didn't see a lot of his aggressiveness in the 1st half but he was not so nice in the novel. To me it was very strange she kept saying he's very fierce etc in the drama cos it didn't seem so to me.

OMG, I would have hated it if they would have gone with that break-up route. WY come on, why wouldn't you try…
I went back to read the novel again. I made a mistake about the tutoring part. The stepmom, along with her sister, Xiao Lu, were his childhood friends. Their father worked for NQ's dad. So the sisters felt indebted to his family but at the same time, the stepmom fell in love with his father.

I'm okay with the plot in the drama but it's just that they kept some of the lines in the novel, it opened some gaps here and there.

I kinda understand now after re-watching why Nian Qin changed.
But in the novel, he remained blind and his behavior was like that too. I attribute it to his change in career and the pressure he was dealing with. I mean he picked up smoking and drinking. That was in the novel too and he was still blind.

I was thinking the same...that maybe the drama would be more touching if he didn't recover his sight. Also, it would show that love and happiness is possible even if someone isn't perfect. But I can get why they changed to his gaining sight.

Wait a minute so did she recover that imagining cheng yin or not? Guys it seems like I missed out something.
She did. When she was at the hospital, she heard Cheng Yin say goodbye and that was followed by NQ holding her hand.

So I've finished episode 3, and I truly have mixed feelings about whether or not I should continue the drama.…
She's a psychology student so she was testing some of the techniques on him. That was the way I read it and justified her behavior. But this is also a story where both FL and ML aren't your norm...they're both a little crazy and odd in their thoughts and behavior. So for me, that was a draw and I found the story unique.

In the book, the last part where the media revealed his secret was also more damning. They suggested that he and his stepmom have something going on. In the drama, I had found it strange initially that everyone was so affected by the news report just cos they found out he is Yi Jin. I mean, what's the big deal about that? It was only when WY mentioned how they revealed his mother had died...that convinced me that all the reactions and why WY was worried about him.

So these are the gaps but nevertheless, I still found the drama of quality. I think not going the novel route totally made it less angsty. Cos depending on how they execute the story, the story could become messy and draggy.

Anyway, rarely do you find a drama that give audience a view of the "happily after". So I guess that definitely made many happy.

Finished watching all the episodes and came away with a warm, loving feeling. This is indeed a healing drama with lots of touching moments. I love it. Re-watch value is high but I want to talk about some gaps I'd found because I had read the novel.

First, they didn't follow the reason in the novel for their breakup in ep 15. It's okay but I didn't understand why they didn't close the gap between NQ and the stepmom. He was angry when he mentioned that his dad married 3x and the 3rd one was his friend. There was a hesitation there and then there was the scene where he remembered his stepmom wishing him a happy birthday. I feel like there were some insinuations about an abnormal relationship but it wasn't properly addressed. So they should have just smoothened it and made it come across less abnormal for the audience. In the book, the stepmom was his tutor and he might have harbored some love for her but she had eyes on his dad (loving way).

Then there was that constant odd lookand behavior by her "Xi" DJ-boss that seem to suggest more in the drama. Again, this is odd cos those who read the book will know Xi was the one who told
WY about NQ and his stepmom, indirectly causing them to breakup. WY thought NQ loved his stepmom and that's why he wasn't willing to forgive the stepmom for marrying his dad. Also, WY thought she was a replacement for the stepmom cos it seems her voice sounds like his stepmom's. She later analyzed for WY that it was not real love for him but she happened to fill the motherly gap for him.

Is the second half bad..
It's not bad but the rhythm changed a bit cos the roles reversed and he was aggressively chasing her. It's cute though but the vibes definitely changed cos it's less touching. But I thought Ep 23 and 24 kinda returned the rhythm. I was moved by their wedding scene and how much he cherished her in his own queer ways.

For the story progressing, the break-up is necessary. So, they came up with this. They could have done better.…
Yes, but the stepmom was his tutor and she kinda filled the gap after his mom died. So he thought it was love but the stepmom later analyzed it for him and showed him that it was more due to his craving for mom's love. That was why he was so angry when she married his dad. This is apparent in the drama. So there is a gap here...the drama is not addressing his previous animosity against his stepmom. WY came to know about it and thought he loved her cos her voice reminded him of his stepmom and he still harbour love for his stepmom.

When I read the novel, I didn't feel it was complicated but I can understand why WY wanted to break up with him because of that.

I hope this won't discourage you from watching. Cos in the novel, she did reflect on her behavior back then and said something about it. I think at the spur of the moment when emotions are high, blaming and taking it out on someone is understandable especially when the person doesn't react too kindly. I guess it would have been different if the ML didn't say those mean things to her.

Can I pause for a moment to say how much I love Evan Lin's lips. (。♥‿♥。)

Also, the lines are so well scripted. I especially love how the mom said about being regretful. In the Eng sub, it is said, no matter how regretful one is, there is no turning back. But in Chinese, she said no matter how regretful one is, there is no pill/medicine to take for that. I love it!
