I'm still trying to get over the fact that it is 2021 and we still live in a world where same sex romance and homosexuality in certain countries is considered PORNOGRAPHY. It is mind blowing!
So to answer your question ... reincarnation would fall under the 3rd category listed above. The whole censorship…
That is a really good question. If we look at The Untamed - in the original novel MDZS there is very clearly a reincarnation element where Wei Wuxian is summoned into the body of Mo Xuanyu. But in the drama Untamed is it really a reincarnation or is Wei Wuxian resurrected? The same actor is showed as playing both Wei Wuxian and also Mo Xuanyu. So the body is the same so it kinda looked like Wei Wuxian's body is resurrected. So yeah I'm trying to draw a distinction between reincarnation and resurrection. Not sure. Maybe someone else has a better explanation on how the Untamed got around censorship with the reincarnation element.
I heard from one of my Chinese acquaintance that Ancient Love Poetry got really very bad reviews in China. Is this true? Also, can someone tell me what the Douban rating is?
I have a question. I saw comments and discussions here and there about the worry of rebirth/reincarnation. Is…
So to answer your question ... reincarnation would fall under the 3rd category listed above. The whole censorship thing really is a full frontal attack on freedom of speech and freedom of expression. It is shameful. Shame on the Chinese authorities for doing that.

My understanding is that the Chinese censorship bans the following four main categories of content
1. Defamation of revolutionary leaders, heroes, People's Liberation Army, armed police, national security apparatus, public security apparatus, and the judiciary branch, etc.
2. Pornography and cheap taste: prostitution, rape, masturbation, incest, homosexuality, hentai, sexual assault, sexual violence, extramarital affairs, one-night stand, sexual freedom, wife swapping, prolonged or provocative scenes of physical intimacy.
3. Feudalistic ideology which is pseudoscience: spirit possession, reincarnation, witchcraft, etc.
4. Showcase excessive horror, psychological pain, hysteria, causing strong stimulation to senses and emotions with uncomfortable pictures, lines, music, and sound effects, etc.
Is it normal for C-dramas to take this long to begin airing? My understanding is that filming ended back in August…
I think you are wrong on this one. The Untamed finished filming in August 2018 and it started airing in June 2019. So about 10 months after it finished filming.
Honestly, I always thought HYX would either air in September or February 2022, it's just a gut feeling I've got.
Is it normal for C-dramas to take this long to begin airing? My understanding is that filming ended back in August 2020. K-dramas seem to air quickly. In fact a lot of K-dramas seem to air while they are still filming the later episodes.
It's on Netflix in a bunch of countries: https://unogs.com/title/81205849Can watch with VPN ^_^
Just so you know, using a VPN to access Netflix shows in other countries/territories is very much against Netflix's Terms and Conditions and Netflix reserves the right to terminate accounts found to be doing this. Please make sure you also provide this disclaimer to whoever you are advising to use VPN for accessing Netflix in other region so that they know what risk they are taking and what trouble they could get into.
It's right about now that I would love to have the ability to read the futureJokes aside, I am reading the novel…
Due to censorship and all that, do you think Immortality could do justice to the novel? Or do you expect the drama to be a highly watered down version of the novel?
My only wish is that the final product is worth it. If they end up censoring everything... *sigh*
What do you think. It is after all a C-drama. Censorship is the hallmark and cornerstone of C-dramas, especially stories that deal with topics like reincarnation and same sex romance. It is going to be littered with censorship.

Apparently Chen Feiyu just recently renounced his US citizenship and has become a Chinese citizen. Interesting.
