agree! It's very strange that her family bring this up after she died.
I agree with everything you say, and I also think that oftentimes than not, and especially in a society such as South Korea, it would have hurt KSR more than helped if she or her family had come out with all this before her death. Look at what happened last year when she uploaded that photo of them to her Instagram. He was more powerful than her then and probably still is now. She was already battling, or maybe the right word was working to salvage her tarnished image. It would have blown up in her face, for sure. As it indeed did.
I agree her family should have done more, but who is to say they didn't try to do all they could without ruining her career? They were probably trying to protect her from the public when the monster was closer to home. It is much easier to speculate when removed from the situation. It is indeed so very, very sad. I wish the people speaking out now had done so before when she needed it the most, but the truth is that it's such a toxic industry, and very few escape it without a blemish.
I've seen people interpret the fact that he didn’t mention her name as narcissistic. While I don’t buy into…
I respect your opinion, but I had no expectations whatsoever, nor do I have a dog in this fight. I do, however, believe the least he could have done is call the person he had some semblance of a relationship with by her given name rather than refer to her as the "dead person".
My two cents: The conference was probably one of KSH's worst performances. I came to it with an open mind, everyone deserves a chance to explain themselves, but he lost me when he made it all about him; everything was "I" from beginning to end. That he mentioned Queen of Tears but couldn't once mention KSR by name, but instead as the "dead person," speaks volumes about his narcissism. Everyone has the right to their opinion of him, but are these opinions based on him as a man or an actor? The two are not the same.
I know it is hard to separate the actor from the person sometimes. Many fans tend to adore celebrities not for who they are, but for who they want them to be, or rather, who they think they are. And we are seeing that now with KHS's die-hard fans who are confusing him, the person, with his roles, feeling a sense of false intimacy with someone they've never met, and never will, all celebrities are exposable myths, this fact because in the end they are just as human as the next person.
I don't know this man from Adam, all I know of him is from the dramas I watched, but his actions since this ordeal started have left me cringing, and after the conference, even cringier. I have seen a lot of comments worried about his state of mind, thinking he may want to end things. To those who are afraid, I say don't. The man is not going to harm himself; he's too much of a narcissist to do it. The live conference is proof of it.
I recently read that famous people crave not fame but the glamour and excitement of celebrity. They want to be envied rather than respected; pride and acquisitiveness often give way to vanity. KHS is an excellent example of this; I hope the rest are watching and learning. I bet most are grateful it's not them.
Is Season 4 (2025) in peril? Has PD Jang Si-won (and Studio C1 Studio) been sidelined by JTBC? Can someone please…
I don't think they are cancelling the show yet but it sure is in peril. It looks like JBTC fired PD JSW claiming overspending while PD JSW is saying JBTC not so, the budget is discussed before hand and allocated accordingly and that JBTC is doing what its doing to get its hands on the intellectual property of Studio C1 ... in regards to the players I read they are not interfering, they are training and getting ready for the next season regardless of where the show lands. I say, please don't mess with the only show I am obsessed with right now --- please, if it ain't broke don't fix it ... PLEASE!!!
Am I the only one who thinks it's crazy that such an association exists, "Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association", wild, that such an association is needed, but even crazier that one exists and celebrities are still dying. Okay, now to the issue: I may have sympathized with Kim Soo Hyun if he hadn't initially denied "dating" Kim Sae Ron if one can call that dating. She was already dead, for crying out loud. When has outright denial ever worked for any of these agencies or celebrities, it never does, when are they going to learn this lesson? They deny, deny, deny, but then the truth comes out and decimates their credibility as it has now for Kim Soo Hyun. I mean, the man and her agency didn't even dignify her death. She wasn't a stranger to them. They knew her intimately as a colleague and girlfriend, yet they ignored her and worsened the situation.
Last year, when Kim Sae Ron uploaded that photo with Kim Soo Hyun, I knew, I just knew in my gut, there was something to that story. I wondered why someone trying to stay under the radar suddenly and out of nowhere post something like that. I thought it was to solicit something, but I wasn't sure what exactly, and now we know. I didn't even know she was with KSH's agency, or that they knew each other. I don't follow celebrities like that. I don't care what they do in their personal lives. I am just here for the dramas and only the ones I like, and I really liked Kim Sae Ron from the moment I saw her in The Man From Nowhere, the best SK movie ever made. I was mesmerized by her, to be so young, and yet so talented. She is missed. But as I was saying, that post stayed with me, and now with everything unfolding, it fell into place. They say karma has no menu. You get served what you deserve. As far as I am concerned Gold Medalist/KSH are reaping what they sowed.
How many deaths does it take for S.K. to take action and accountability for their role in how celebrities face intense scrutiny from media and fans alike for not being as "pure" as they imagine or want them to be, cornering and pressuring them until they lose their livelihoods and eventually their lives?
And celebrities, stop acting like you are above the law and nothing or no one can touch you. You aren't Gods learn a lesson for crying out loud. Stop selling your souls, no agency no matter how powerful will save you the moment all your secrets are found and they will be found sooner or later everyone crumbles just ask those who were crumbled by the burning sun scandal. Wake Up!!!!
When are netizens going to DEMAND change in their laws, and specifically for the entertainment industry. I kept…
You are right. Add to that, when are these celebrities going to demand change for themselves, change how talent agencies manage them, and demand rights and freedoms to their own choices to avoid falling into forbidden pitfalls once exposed, which lead to death. When will management agencies stop making "denials" their go-to answers when they know damn well the celebrity has committed the offense. I mean come on, learn your lessons already, how many deaths does it need to take to understand that denying and then partially admitting makes things so much worse. What a trashy industry not just in South Korea but worldwide. Celebrities are used like personal bank accounts, which isn't the price they should pay for fame. It's inhumane, outrageous, and disgusting.
