Like the ambiguous tug of war of the leads

Watched this drama last year. Should i said Yuyin acting was getting better than her previous drama? Yes. I still select her drama based from my mood but this one was exception since Zhang Chi's performance always consistent. Both acting and production are excellent, with sophisticated aesthetics. The lead actors, compared to many previous versions, perfectly fit the roles, creating a strong chemistry. Yu Yin presents the character's resilience and vulnerability in layers.

At first, it seems like only FL is trapped in the cage but soon, it's ML, cage; and finally, the world itself is a cage, and the process of breaking free is also a process of mutual healing between ML and FL. At the beginning, I completely understood FL and thought ML too obsessive and terrifying; but in the middle, I gradually understood ML. He was born only because of the word "suspected," had that kind of family in the alternate storyline, and was forgotten by everyone in the main storyline. Only FL could prove his existence, understand him, and see him, so he could only cling to it tightly. FL is also equally strong. Her journey from disliking ML to falling in love with him is portrayed very realistically, from initial attraction and hesitation to restraint, giving up, and finally, true love. The ambiguous, tug-of-war between the two characters is absolutely captivating.

The cons about this drama the relationship between the leads was not completely unfolded yet and too short.

Recommended if you like ambiguous tug of war of the leads

This is random music video

I watched this because of A Shang but it was another disappoint cases of how this drama lacks anything but the styling.

Basically, FL is constantly running away, SFL is constantly chasing, and ML is constantly saving people. Interspersed throughout are scenes of the SFL and the FL vying for her attention. FL and ML meet and inexplicably kiss within hours, and then fall in love. That's basically the content of the first 21 episodes. Then, according to some girls in the group, ML pushed the FL's father, and he died. This drama has no charm for keeping the audience know what is the mystery behind FL's father death.

I treat this drama as MV instead and adding random OST like Troye Sivan-Angel Baby even i don't think it would be match the story; Gan Wang Xing and A Shang appearance looks good, but the plot was practically nonexistent. Both of the leads still show their weakness of the acting, i forced myself to completed this drama but yeah it was boring. The kisses was plenty and it just basically good shoot from the director.

Only hardcore fans could enjoy this.

I love how they put sexual innuendos in this drama

I watched this drama because my friend recommend Wu Yuhang works and saying he is tissue brand ambassador in this drama or to put it explicitly dai fei kei man, He Ling Yao is good kisser but Wu Yuhang was quite wild in this drama. His kisses was full of affection rather than lust which is kind of rare case on short drama. (Lin Fensong was included in this case that's why i enjoy his drama). It's not one of those intimate scenes that are intensely sexual but make you feel uncomfortable watching and its not just the sake for add the kisses for sake for buzz but it was related to the story.

The plot was actually average about secret marriage office romance between cold killer but doting husband ML and meek rabbit FL but scriptwriter has skill to make this drama more entertaining. This director of this drama have skill about how to put nuances scene especially in those intimate scenes. There is many sexual innuendo scene in this drama which i don't mind at all since ML was borderline cannot control himself when he near FL. The Banana scene was too hilarious. The plot was okay in the first but it kind of dragged for a few minutes in the middle but they keep on track again. I was too relate about those poor office co-workers.

For the characteristic, ML is a top-tier character he was too clingy to FL and kept his image in office and FL is also incredibly intelligent. They've been childhood sweethearts, so even though some people try to sow discord, FL always believes in the ML always keeping quiet and never misunderstanding him, except for ML getting jealous while digging for wild vegetables. Most importantly, they completely trust each other and aren't easily swayed by others .I liked how ML handled his own enemies.

For the cons, thoses scars are quite lazy works for VFX people.

Recommended to watch.

Wang Xuan best drama.

I watched Wang Xuan works and this one is considered his best drama in term of everything. The plot, chemistry and character was so decent. There is no place for me to complain except over white make up from leads and how FL search the evidence was missing in this drama. Sun Lu Lu and Wang Xuan chemistry was overflowing and their kissing scene was quite daring.

This drama address social issue, Even though ML has fallen for her, initially he still has the mindset of "I'd give her anything except marriage." ugh classic generic formula. ML maintains a superior mindset, his attraction to the FL purely physical. He's all talk and no action, claiming it's just a fling, but he gets angry whenever the FL expresses any dissent. He tries to persuade her to give up on opposing the SFL.

FL don't want to be a third party, decides to completely break off her relationship with the ML and it was ML awakening.

The most touching turning point is when ML finally understands her choice. When he puts aside his pride and begs desperately, when he cancels the arranged marriage and frantically pursues FL what we see is not the fall of a domineering CEO, but the awakening of a soul.

The Princess plot was quite interesting.

I watch this drama last December and it was actually still watchable aspects as flaws, so let's list them directly.

The kissing scenes between the ML and FL are solid, both passionate and intense.ML is incredibly charming and manipulative-green tea verified, leaving her ex-husband helpless. Li Zijie was a good kisser.

The political intrigue in the later stages was rushed; the verbal sparring should have been reduced, focusing more on the strategic maneuvering. Too many plot elements, and they were all old tropes, making it quite confusing when you watch this.

I quite like Princess back story (it was actually this drama strong point), you might think she's an insignificant plot device, but she actually has a unique mindset. Not only does she plot a rebellion, but she also wants to be with the FL. In reality, the Princess's rebellion is only because she secured peace through a marriage alliance, but upon returning home, she's condemned for her chastity. FL has a reputation for chastity, and the Princess believes she's only pure when she's with her.

The princess's ending was also good. Although she rebelled, she was ultimately allowed to become the empress. People understood her grievances and hardships, and didn't look down on her. Just like the FL said, a woman's chastity is never beneath her skirts. ML hides multiple identities, only revealed at the end.

Beside good kisses, nothing could satisfy me from this drama

I watched this even before i watched Liang Wenjing and Zhao Tingyi version but i couldn't enjoy this drama. I even tried to fasten the speed of drama to avoid dropped for this drama. I love Wang Xuan but i never found Yu Ling acting was not good-she needs some proper acting lesson; most of her drama are disappointing me. The only good thing in this drama was the kisses even the chemistry between the lead were average.

The overall story is a mess, the pacing is terrible, the characters are ruined, almost all the supporting characters have been cut, and those who remain are just tools to make ML more better. ML characterization was too plain and has no charm. FL characterization was mess. She was so immature and childish and it feels i watched some of choppy idol drama instead of relating of FL situation.

I wont recommend this drama

If you ignore the romance part, it was good.

I watched this as someone who had experience laid off when i was sick. So I will make review based from FL perspective.

FL has no privilege. She's just like us—an unlucky person who gets laid off on her first day of employment, an ordinary person who stays up all night working on a proposal. Her story begins in the depths of despair and is completed through resilience. I like Liang Wenjing acting in here. It feels natural without being over cute in no place.

This drama is very well-made, especially the workplace scenes. Although there are some dramatic exaggerations, the set design is excellent, and the characters' development is clear. Many working professionals who watched this drama must have felt a jolt of unease (including me). The overly realistic plot created a strong sense of discomfort, especially the scene where they congratulated someone with sex, was particularly triggering. I want to tell young girls be very careful when you encounter this kind of so-called mentor in the workplace. This drama shows difficult for young women to discern whether a powerful figure's success is due to age, position, or love. Once you have a relationship with a powerful figure, all your hard work will be erased.

The cons is the romance part; Zhao Tingyi almost didn't show any chemistry with Liang Wenjing. It feels Liang Wenjing trying hard to build up the chemistry but Zhao Tingyi builds some invisible wall for her. Don't know why Zhao Tingyi skills in here kind of being nerfed. If the chemistry were there, it would be more better.

Still recommended to watch.

Unexpectedly sweet CP

I watched this drama because of Zhang Lei and quite skeptical about Lin Qiting since they look don't match at glance but it was pleasant surprise, they are quite have chemistry in this drama.

The plot of the daughter traveling back in time to find her parents is quite novel and funny. Actually ML and FL are playing a role-playing game but the daughter misinterpret and travels back to 10 years ago. At that time, FL is a domineering school beauty and ML is a poor, academically gifted but they had no relation at all. But after the daughter appears, they start pretending to be a loving couple SML and SFL were not traditional villain but they bring the comedy for the drama.

The cons is the daughter becomes merely a decorative element on later episode losing the core of the drama.

Still decent watch.

Yu Peishan needs to get more non scumbag role.

I watched this since my friends said this is Yu Peishan non-scumbag role and you need to watch this. Xu Bodi/ Wang Xi acting was quite fine and she is not artificial cute.

I thought it was usual plot of a scumbag regretting his actions, but i was wrong; FL amnesia is just her awakening for the truth.

FL loses her memory (not fake amnesia), she's is very kind ML constantly trying to make amends. Because her family ignored her for two years due to amnesia, only ML stayed by her side and cared for her every day. FL cuts her toxic family and therefore, she's quite dependent on him. ML is deeply in love with her; even before her amnesia, even she treated him badly, he never left. After her amnesia, he's very good to her, and he becomes anxious and insecure, afraid that she'll regain her memory and leave him. The kisses was good. Yu Peishan quite good kisser and the relationship growth between FL and ML pace was right. The romance between FL and ML are very sweet, and even in the last few episodes when the FL regains her memory, there's no heartbreak; she openly tells the male lead she loves him. No angst included.

Every time I see a Chinese short drama like this, I wonder why SML always confident the FL won't leave him? This one is the same; he realizes he loves the FL halfway through, but it's too late.

There is flaw about ML was trying Mango Yogurt from FL while he was allergic to it. But overall it didn't affect the quality of this drama

Recommended to Watch.

It was nice drama until rape arc starts.

I watched this last year when i was on Guo Jing fever and i liked the chemistry between Ma Qian Huan and Guo Jing. It was actually nice premises on the first half of drama But the rape plot was quite destroyer on this drama. FL was weak because she was raped by stranger that turns out to be ML. She is upset, gets drunk, And he takes advantage again and nothing happened between FL. Where is the logic? The memory regression in the end was quite mess to add the salt on the wound.

Avoid this if you mind the logic of drama.

Its really She was the man (2006) coded.

I watched this last year and this drama reminds me of J Drama Hana Kimi (2007) and American Movie She was the man (2006). It feels like nostalgic drama to my youth. Sun Qian Xun and Wang Jiamao embraced their character smoothy.

I always love "woman disguised as a man" premise and lighthearted narrative style, it stands out in the short drama genre. The Sun Qian Xun as FL disguises herself as a man to attend classes in place of her brother, unexpectedly becoming the school's most popular girl and attracting the attention of the school bully, ML. (This is so She was the man coded).
I like how Sun Qian Xun boys looks not too beautiful like flower next door type yet strikingly cool and believable as a man. I like the moment ML realized he actually was gay by liking FL in boys costume. FL completely deceives ML, yet he remains devoted to her.

The cons are last 10 minutes are a bit too convoluted. After being rejected, ML plans to publicly confess his feelings. And when the disguised was being discovered they used fake amnesia plot. And when couple progression was slighty better the sudden ML disappearance annoyed me. SFL was weak in attacking FL but constantly bouncing around.

The final punishment was just a demerit summary: I think the drama was generally average, with some blunders and minor laughs, but I didn't like the later parts. The romance was so-so and the chemistry between Wang Jiamao and Sun Qianxun seems like artificial, they look better as comrade more than lovers for my view.

Although the plot is simple, its still decent to watch.

They keep the quality for the sequel

I watched this drama on 10 January 2026 and tried to rewatch to get better review.

For a sequel, it's above average. Although the plot doesn't have any substantial progress, it still maintains the quality of the first season. The plot mainly revolves around the daily lives of the two main characters. The first season saw them progress from complete strangers to semi-mature adults, while this season shows their journey from semi-mature to fully mature.

I especially love watching FL tease the ML. She's a straightforward person who knows the answer but pretends to be stubborn and old-fashioned, and then seeing him look pitiful like a puppy looks so satisfying.

ML's old-fashioned character is further developed, and it's clear he's growing to love the FL and starting to change. The older brother still has limited screen time, but his appearances are always impactful.

The cons is the lack of original audio and editing is kind rushed. However, the overall viewing experience is still very good.

Recommended to watch.

Decent Wen Xi-Shang Chen version

I was watching this drama last year and i really eager to make a review since i quite obsessed with Wen Xi and Shang Chen version.

Zhang Yilun nailed the realistic CEO; his cold expression is quite intimidating and his acting was not overly excessive. Personally i am not really fond of Wang Yujing acting but she slightly better in this drama but need to level up her acting skill. The chemistry is quite decent to watch.

The first half is somewhat similar to the third version, with many inner monologues, but it feels much more natural than the third version. The monologues contrast sharply with her outward actions, vividly portraying a cold-faced but warm-hearted character, thus highlighting the significance of the monologues. The scenes showcasing her strength are fully preserved: confronting her adoptive mother (without crying), confronting the professor, confronting the Zhou family, confronting her colleagues—a strong woman's image is fully presented.

The costumes, makeup, and props show that this is the limit of a low-budget production. There are plenty of kissing scenes filmed beautifully with a good atmosphere. The dialogue is fast-paced. The original voice acting and the lead actors' performances are also good, making for a very enjoyable viewing experience. The only drawback is the limited screen time for supporting characters, making the overall drama feel somewhat thin.

The biggest letdown on this version is older brother is completely unacceptable in every terms; his looks, dialogue, acting, and charisma are all lacking. Although his role is small, it's quite important for the story.

Although the supporting characters and family relationships were significantly cut, and the romance between the ML and FL was accelerated, the overall viewing experience is quite good.

Even this drama is not best adaptation you still need to watch this.

No angst drama and ML manipulative action was acceptable.

The plot is about ML, taking advantage of his amnesiac brother's illness and her supposed sister in law aka FL whose her fiancee was snatched by SFL due ML's brother amnesia by marrying her on the spot.

ML snatches it, tears off the female part, and takes it away, subtly mocking his brother. When the ML older brother looks at the gifts the FL gave him in his office, trying to recall his memories, ML sweeps them into a box and takes them all, leaving nothing for his older brother to remember.

ML was quite sarcastic especially with ML's brother wife since he knows all her scheming against FL. His action and words are on same wavelength.

ML seizes every opportunity to assert his dominance; if there's no opportunity, he creates one to make no opportunity left for his older brother. Even though the FL sees through his act, she doesn't expose him, just dotes on him. Their romance growth was perfect to see from FL sees ML as immature younger brother into capable man.

Personally I am not feel bad about ML's brother condition. SFL was quite nuisance and love how ML handled her. Liang Wenjing and Wang Peiyan nailed the character and their chemistry is passable to watch.

It's basically a story of extreme tug-of-war between a manipulative, love-seeking ML and a mature, intelligent, and resolute older sister. It's good, I love watching it

Recommended to watch.

Zhang Jinyi Peking Opera scene was keeping me for dropping this drama.

I almost gave up on this drama with Zhang Jinyi and Du Yafei, but everyone said it was the most classic and complete adaptation, so I forced myself to continue this drama.

Their kissing scenes are incredibly sensual. Zhang Jinyi is lively, both sweet and sassy, and her smiling eyes really make her look like a little fox. Du Yafei's cold-faced bodyguard look good on him!

FL is a seemingly innocent but actually cunning character. She pretends to be weak to uncover the truth behind her mother's death and retrieve her belongings; her hidden identity is the famous Peking Opera (I was searching this theme because it was rare for chinese short drama to bring Peking opera, so i was glad i didn't give up on this drama).

Apart from the emotional entanglements between the lead, the other plot lines feel rushed.

Still decent watch though~
