Sooo glad to see the wise and kind, foodie Empress Shi alive and well, and getting her happy good ending, sitting high up on the bright tree looking happy and carefree and smiling with her kite.
* LMT: "Because he knows that, as long as I want it, I will climb the ladder myself to pick the moon. He will always be the solid and reliable man standing on the ground and holding the ladder steady for me. And I will completely trust him."
* CXZ: "Without a word, she stands by my side, silently sharing the burden with me. She is just that kind of person. Her sharpness, her vulnerability, her pure heart—I will protect them all. If there's anything to be said about change, it's that we no longer demand change from the other person. All I wish for in our shared years is that she can live more truly as herself."
Their words about each other are so touching. Really have love watching LMT and CXZ’s growth and how their love has evolved. LMT and CXZ are now officially husband and wife. It has not been an easy road for them, but they are now stronger than ever and even sweeter than before. They will have one of the greatest love stories to tell their children and grandchildren one day.
Upon rewatch, I find ZWY very suitable with the conflicted, agonising look... It's those eyes.. The whole face...…
same i keep rewatching the 2nd waterfall scene especially the part when CXZ pulls out the hairpin, wipe off the blood, and gently put it back into her hair...his heartbreak, his conflicting emotions, his unspoken words and then added with the song lyrics...it was such an emotionally powerful scene, acting well done.
LMT (Amnesiac) taught and gave CXZ unconditional love, something he had never experienced before. She was a loving, devoted, supportive wife to CXZ no matter what, even when he was a "lazy, good-for-nothing, spineless husband." For the first time, he had someone who would tell him it was okay to rest when he is tired, promising to take care of everything for him and share his burdens. She also followed the army and chased him for thousands of miles, determined to be with the man she loves and fight alongside him, showing her unwavering commitment. She had told CXZ that, "Even if you die, I'll bring you back home." Her love allowed CXZ to experience a carefree and genuine happiness he had never known, showing him what real love is and what he truly wants in life. Around her, he could just be himself and be an ordinary man rather than the reserved and cautious Lord Huaiyang.
In return, CXZ did everything he could to win back her heart, showing her the same unconditional love and unwavering commitment she had given him. Even though it deeply pained him, he told her "when you recall everything later, you can always do what you think is right" and when she ended their relationship, he let her go, giving her the space and time to do what she needs to do. He understood her hurt and made genuine efforts to gain back her trust and truly understand her and what she really wants. He sees her as his equal and respects her choices. Little by little, LMT was touched by his sincerity, and she now feel safe to open up her heart again.
Ep 30 CXZ words to LMT's Grandpa: "Today, I have come to the Qiao family to sincerely apologize to you Sir. LMT once said that the person who loves her most in this world is you. You raised her to be kind, wise, and upright. Yet, because of my grave mistakes, she has been forced to endure all the suffering that should have been borne by me, as a man.."
CXZ's heartfelt words/apology to LMT's Grandpa were very touching. You can feel CXZ's deep regret. The quiver, the pain in his voice. Acting was on point.
LMT taking down all those men like a Queen haha. Love how LMT and CXZ are just casually chatting while fighting together. Hope to see more of their moments as the power couple!
I am really loving seeing the different sides of CXZ and how he interacts with different people in various situations. As Lord Huaiyang, he is so nonchalant, unbothered, sometimes appearing bored, yet you can always sense his natural powerful, chilling aura. He can also just as swiftly shift into a serious, intimidating, and fearsome presence.
On the other hand, as Cui Jiu, we also see him as an ordinary guy in love or a bold romantic, trying to win back his wife's heart, revealing his more softer, cute and funny side. The only time he truly shows vulnerability or more of his emotions, the only time he loses his usual composure, is when he's around his wife or dealing with matters related to her. It's fun seeing his different face expressions and tone in these scenes.
We can see this stark contrast between his intense confrontation with Prince Sui in the forest and when confiding in Lord Beizhou about his personal matters with his wife. I think this is what makes his character so charming and interesting.
Moru: Um, you’ve been practicing all afternoon. How about taking a break? I’m worried… CXZ: Not tired! Moru: …I’m worried that the target won’t hold up
haha omg that poor target...full of arrows shot through...
It's kind of funny though that she was the one who lit the fire and stabbed him to end all relations/connections…
yes it's as you have said, from CXZ's perspective, he has a duty to protect his kingdom and people. whereas from LW's and her allies' perspective, they are doing the right thing by restoring the legitimate heir to the throne. i think this is what makes this drama so interesting, the complexity and depths of these characters and relationship, they both are morally grey characters on opposite sides of the political struggle and then eventually also developing deep feelings for each other, complicating things further. it's interesting to try understand their conflicting feelings and the reasoning behind their actions.
It's kind of funny though that she was the one who lit the fire and stabbed him to end all relations/connections…
yeah that may be why LW took a more drastic way to sever their relationship, so that they can both move on. they were on the opposite sides which makes everything so much more complicated. I feel for both of them.
yes the part when CXZ told her that when she recalls everything, she can always do what she thinks is right - at that time he did not know she was LW yet but i think in this waterfall scene, it seems that he is letting her know that even now knowing who she is, as painful as it may be, his words at Mt Yang still hold true. which is touching and sad..
Ep 23: Been rewatching the scene where CXZ and Prince Sui are talking, especially the part when CXZ says, “No need to talk about it?” and “Misunderstandings? With whom?” His face expression. The way he turned his head to look at Sui, the way he smiled. His tone. So eerie and chilling. Intimidating and threatening. The acting is so on point.
Love that CXZ is just so nonchalant, naturally exudes an air of authority. And it’s like he is just so done with all the political games and facade. It’s almost like he’s so bored and it’s not even worth one brain cell of his to deal with them. He’s just so unbothered.
LW: So, Lord Huaiyang, how do you plan to deal with LW? CXZ: I'll give you one more chance. Don't you have a dagger? Don't you hate me? All the lies I've said to you before, i'll repay you with my life. LW: The feud between LW and Lord HY was settled in that fire. CXZ: Then what about CJ and LMT? *LW stabs CXZ* LW: It's settled now. From now on, we owe each other nothing. Let's part ways peacefully and find our own happiness. CXZ: Okay, i'll listen to you.
It seems as if LW purposely said all those harsh words to CXZ before asking him that question in order to sever their relationship completely because she believes that there is no happy future together, as they are fated to be enemies that will only end up hurting each other even though they both love each other. She remained cold until she stabbed him and when CXZ pull out her hairpin and return it to her, she could no longer hide her true feelings and hold back her tears. So heartbreaking.

CXZ: It slipped! It slipped! It slipped! Liu Mian Tang! Liu..Liu..Liu Mian Tang!
haha CXZ so cute and funny.

Later that evening:
Grandpa Liu: Buy one more tomorrow and stew it.
The next day, CXZ goes back to Lord BZ’s Mansion and walks out with another black maned goose.
Lord BZ: This CXZ is taking advantage of I the lord.
hahaha 🤣 too funny. Lord You and BZ stressing out so much meanwhile CXZ is only thinking about his wife.
