I feel like although Teh was not possessive or toxic, we all have a bit of all of these things in us. Not enough for it to be a problem, but it's still there.
Someone wrote, this drama is too angsty and whether people are calling it a masterpiece because they enjoy angst. I feel, one reason for this show to be a masterpiece is that it just shows the interplay of all these emotions in details without judgement, just let it play out. We see the joy, the jealousy, the love , hurtfulness, the desire, the ambivalence, everything just unfold without commentary. Like a slice of life presented to us with which we can all identify.
Just a crazy question lol. After spending the whole day together, Teh invited Oh to his house to see a drama.…
maybe, I just thought it as a way of delaying the impending separation. As Teh asked, before, "Where do you want to go?", Oh said, "Wherever, as long as you are with me.". So, location and excuse doesn't really matter, as long as they get to spend some more time together.
Possessiveness is characterized by separation; separating the other person from everyone else and trying to have exclusive possession over that person. I didn't see that anywhere. Teh was jealous of Oh choosing others above him, but never tried or even hinted at any desire to possess him exclusively.
A healthy relationship should help nurture and grow a person. That's what they have been doing all life. The toxicity comes with respect to society's attitude towards them and the failure to deal with it effectively. People take time to it figure things out. It is very difficult to be sound, if society, like the dog, growls at every small display of gay affection. SO, it is only obvious that during such turmoil, there would be some negative behavior. Hardly elevates it to mental illness.
This was an incredible masterpiece. It had the tone of early 2000s, gay, indie coming-of-age films that I absolutely…
Just one thing, I really doubt that Teh is straight. But Teh is more masculine, and its hard for him to "become" gay. I think that's the angle they are going for, and that is very realistic. As you describe, straight guys can also enjoy gay sex. But the sensuousness of just touching another guy, the desire to just touch, the way Teh utterly enjoys Oh touching him fixing his shirt, Teh touching Oh' face, this will not be there. What you propose, is an alternative story.
My interpretation was that he simply wished "what if he was a girl" . Would Teh accept him automatically if he…
No, I hadn't noticed that. If it is there, that would be very subtle thing to notice. Like how he jumped on the bed and wiggled his legs, and stretched like a cat? It is kinda girly, I can never see Teh doing that. And I don't recall any such scene before the bra scene(maybe during the hibiscus and hammock scenes?). So, definitely possible. In general also, I am convinced that trying the Bra was inherent part of his personality and not because of Teh. I also don't feel he is trans, but he has effeminate tendencies.
Anyone who cares about high quality work, good storytelling, amazing acting and a soundtrack that makes your heart…
Right, I see the similarity now that you said it. Sui Zhao is a little more hunky though. Now, I want to a see Hoon in that Chinese military uniform...lmao
