I don't normally watch costume dramas or court intrigue stuff in general, but of course I had to watch a show that IU is in. First episode thoughts: It's incredibly pretty. The filming locations, the outfits, everything is lovely. We got a good introduction to the universe without it being too long. There's drama and humor. For me, the plot is the weakest part, but I knew that going in so I'm not complaining. I hope the prince gives in quickly because we don't have that many episodes for IU to be chasing him. Also, I hope it's mutual and not IU trapping the prince with underhanded methods. I'm worried because we already know she's okay with winning using dirty tactics. But enough of that. Anyway, good start. I'm glad we get another episode tomorrow.
I’m genuinely glad they didn’t include any extra Nc scenes . The actors are quite young and also there’s…
I made it very clear how I felt, I'm not sure how it's confusing. But sure, everyone is so GLAD that there's no NC scene. Because that's apparently not important. While the child abuse was.

Sharing clothes and going to class with each other is just normal dating stuff. And I don't agree, the child abuse part was not censored in the same way that the NC scene was. They not only showed the nanny shaking him and dragging him, they also showed the bruises and aftermath trauma. I'm not saying the NC scene needed to be graphic. I'm saying they ended the scene before there was emotional payoff. Right when the tension was building they said "cut" and suddenly it was the next morning and they're talking about getting ready for school. But I can see that we won't agree here. I don't know why physical affection is a negative thing. When used tastefully, it's beautiful. And I really thought that this show was going to do it very well.

The show built up the tension only to fade to black, and then the next morning it's like nothing happened. I wasn't expecting anything graphic, don't make it seem like I'm a perv. But they didn't even talk about it afterward. It's like nothing happened at all, no emotional payoff. I see people talking about the age of the actors playing Duang and Qin, but what about the little child actor who was abused? Why was that okay, but not a slightly longer NC scene between adults? Why are people more comfortable with violence than physical affection?
God Qin's parents suck. I wasn't prepared for such a serious topic in this fluff-fest. I know they're going to do some sort of cute and short redemption arc but that sort of trauma would take years to heal in real life. If they're going to include such a hard to watch scene, they should have at least had a more intense NC scene. I had to watch the nanny abuse Qin, but they literally did a fade-to-black when they slept together? Come on. Before everyone comes at me, I'm not saying it's bad just that if they're going to be bold and show something horrible, they should also show the opposite.
Anyway, I'm happy Duang is bringing Qin to his house soon. He should see what a loving family is like. And what's up with the second couple? There's not much going on there. It's a good show, but not a 10/10 for me.
I have to agree with that other commenter about Duang being annoying, but unfortunately it also applies to this…
No, I get it. Sometimes when he's being extra (with the dog noises) I'm not really into it. I think what makes it okay for me is that Duang knows when to be serious. Not all BLs have any nuance, they'd make the character act silly no matter what. But this show knows when to have Duang tone it down, because he's silly, not stupid. For example, when he met Qin's parents, he didn't act like a fool. He didn't act goofy during the NC scenes.
Maybe I'm being critical, but the parents haven't changed at all since Qin was little, they're still running off to do whatever they want, without regard for Qin. Still, the line from the dad "be the colors in Qin's life." was incredibly sweet, and a highlight of the episode. I'm also looking forward to Qin meeting Duang's parents. The NC scene was well done, though am I alone in wishing it was longer? We waited so long. LOL. Anyway, I'm not into the second couple at all. But the rest is so good. I read in another comment that in any other show Duang would be super annoying, but in this he just works. And I agree, he's so likeable.
I wanted to like this, but the FL is too over the top. Filming everywhere, making strangers congratulate her, and she literally pushed a guy down the stairs. Yeah, he cheated on her, but that doesn't make it okay. She wanted to "scar" the other woman's face. Imagine if this was a guy pushing his cheating girlfriend down the stairs, would that be funny? I know it's just a show, but I think we need to reconsider what's acceptable humor. Yikes.
The grandpa is stone cold, blaming Pai for getting scammed. Anyway, I was actually happy with Pai's reaction though I think some people will disagree. I thought he'd just totally shut down and cut Tim off. But it also makes sense that he doesn't. He's more pragmatic, which is in character. He's mad but also curious about how Tim fooled him, what Tim is really like. I don't think the last scene meant that he forgave Tim, just that he's not going to be in a constant rage. He's willing to listen. He was more angry over Yu scamming North because he's protective. So yeah, I liked how it was handled better than I expected.
Instead of forcing qin to answer duang wants qin to tell about it, duang always respects qin boundaries, so he…
That's a nice way to see it, but that isn't what I felt when I watched. Simply asking a question isn't crossing boundaries or forcing anything. That's just how communication works in a healthy relationship. Which is what Duang and Quinn had, up until about halfway through episode 7. *sigh* Well, as long as it's resolved quickly.
I guess I knew there'd have to be conflict, but an old one sided crush? And he's going to try to take Qinn away from Duang? It's just so... childish. Qinn isn't a toy to be won. I'm really not into this sort of plot. It's kind of insulting, because up until now they had great communication, but as soon as Duang stopped talking to Qinn (when he saw the message from Tiw) things started going downhill. It's like the writers threw away Duang's entire character that we've seen in the last 6 episodes. He was always so open with Qinn, that was part of why I liked this show. There weren't any problems caused by lack of communication. But now here we are. Doing the same boring plot devices that every other BL does.
I was enjoying the emotion and tension of episode 6, all the way up to when they kissed. The loud soundtrack totally ruins it. I have to mute it. Why do so many BLs feel like they have to have the show's theme song (or similar) blaring? Sorry for the rant, I'm just annoyed because the lead up was very good and I had high hopes then suddenly "IT HAD TO BE YOUUUUU YOUUUUU"
I'm 4 episodes in and liking the show, but what's up with Jisoo's eyebrows? They change color constantly, even in the same scene. It's only on her, not the other characters. I think they use a really strong filter on her face or something and it sort of erases the eyebrows. It's very distracting. Maybe I'm the only one to notice it, lol.
I went into this not expecting much, but I ended up binging episodes 1-5. It's way more heartfelt than I thought it would be. I'm actually so nervous for whenever Pai ends up finding out. It'll crush him, and he doesn't seem like the sort to forgive something so huge. But hopefully he will, this has to be a happy ending right?
i feel like maybe im too old for this kind of drama (im almost 25 😭😭) and this is by far the most cringe…
Yeah, this sort of show isn't normally my thing either and honestly at first I was planning to drop it. It's really hard to do the cringy golden retriever character well, I've given up on soooo many shows because they're too goofy. But TeeTee got it right, and I keep coming back and rooting for him.
I've really been loving this show. 12 episodes in, and I'm not bored at all. I don't see any filler, and I'm looking forward to each new episode. My only teeny tiny complaint is that I wish we'd see more of the ex. I think it's coming up soon though, since we had that little talk in the restaurant with Hong's old boss, about not seeing someone clearly.
"...but don't you dare disrespect your father." Cracks me up that your first thought is incest when hearing…
Okay, thanks I don't usually watch intros unless I like the song. Anyway, like I said before, the whole scene just gave me weird vibes. The dialog, and the way Po smirked. There's been a few weird "fake family to lovers" shows recently, maybe that's why my mind went there. I'm glad to be wrong.
"...but don't you dare disrespect your father." Cracks me up that your first thought is incest when hearing…
The exact quote in English from iQIYI is "Who the hell did you sleep with? Can I ask you something? Do whatever you want but don't mess with you dad okay?"
The word disrespect would change it entirely, but that's not what it says for me. If this is just a translation error, that's good. But the way it's written, and the way Po smirks, it was sus. Also, did we see the dad in this episode?
I watched the first episode out of boredom after reading some comments... People were saying it's like softcore porn, and now I'm laughing because I think people are very sheltered. Only one scene is even a little graphic. Another scene is cut short, literally just a few quick cuts of some light touching before it's interrupted. And there's a fade to black scene, which is like PG level. There's no plot so I was at least expecting some effort would go into the NC scenes, but they're not great. I hated My Stubborn, but at least the sex scenes in that show were hot.
Also, can anyone explain the random comment at the end "do whatever you want, but don't mess with your dad"? Because what? If this is incest I'm out.
I wasn't in a rush to watch this since the premise didn't really grab my interest, but the first two episodes got me hooked. It's another dramedy that's on the silly side, but I feel like it's done well. Putting aside the tragedy of our FL's new haircut, of course. I think it's going to be a fun show with some mystery on the side. I'm crossing my fingers that it maintains this energy and doesn't get bogged down in the middle.
