There does seem to be a separate killer though. Like, who called that guy? And I somehow feel like he was killed…
Yeah, I think so too. Usually dressing up the character the same way as the killer and making him look suspicious without actually showing his face during the murder means they did not do it and the writers are just trying to throw us off.
Part of me wants him to be a killer as it would make the story more interesting and realistic but at the same time I feel so bad for the wife and daughter. I think they will probably pull something like his father being the killer and he knows it and has been living his life trying to not be like his father, which is why he decided to have a family of his own and be a good husband and father. But this could also be a pretense to make him look innocent and a good man who would not be suspected at all. A lot of serial killers were married and had kids and anyone who knew them would say they were nice people. So him deciding to have a family does not mean anything.
Also, I find it weird that he chose to marry a cop, almost like he wanted an easy way to keep track of what the police finds out. We know when he met her she was not a detective yet, but we do not know when he actually showed interest in her and it might have been after she told him she was going to be a violent crimes detective. There is so much we dont know, I cant wait for the next episodes.
I have yet to watch but in what world is it a good idea to push your "best friend" and husband to sleep together? There are other ways to get her pregnant with his baby without them having sex. I am sorry, but you got it coming.
So...3 months later and I am still unable to go further than episode 5. The pace, the way the characters were written, everything is so bland. The cast was wasted on this drama. I think I will just skip to the last episode since I cannot get into it anyway.
EDIT: Yup, things get a resolution in the last 5 minutes of the last episode. Imagine how much the plot went around until it reached the end. Glad I skipped directly to the last episode and did not waste my time watching the whole thing.
Yeah, so far there is no evidence that he is a psychopath, but he is checking all boxes for sociopath. He is unable to feel anything and is only able to tell what others feel by observing their expressions. There is a chance he is not a killer and we are conveniently shown things in a certain way to make us believe he is, but there is also a huge chance HE IS. Oh well, lets just enjoy the drama as it is and hope for the best.
But let’s be real here, and I know it is hard, but do NOT smile at all those happy and sweet moments, because I am only hoping for the female lead and her daughter to come out of this the least traumatized possible. There is a slim chance he is not the killer and is just covering up for the real killer (probably his father but might be his mother, who knows), which is not a good scenario either but still not as bad as him being a psychopath killing a bunch of people and then coming home acting like the sweetest husband/father.
Anyway, for our sake, let’s not try to excuse his behavior and fall for his smile. His wife and daughter might be clueless, but we know about his double life so let’s not paint a nicer picture than the one we are shown. We can all enjoy this drama without glamorizing or excusing murder. ^ ^
Just finished watching last episode as well. Im like how did ML not remember Isabelle? But Isabelle had this look…
Yeah. I think it is a plot hole but I try to imagine he just does not remember what her face looked like. How many people have we met once and then again years later and felt their face was familiar but could not really remember where we saw that person? I have seen worse plot holes so I just ignored it. XD
Is it finally airing? I have yet to watch the first season because I was waiting for the second season to come out. It has been over 2 years since season 1 is on my plan to watch list. lol

Well, to be fair he only met her once 5 years prior to that second encounter and she only spoke to him for a few seconds. He was also not in a normal state of mind at the time since he was so worried about Rose. So I can kind of forgive that plot hole. XD
Again, blame it all to wen suyu, not wen sujin.... Because all trouble its begin with suyu, that selfish bitch,…
Sure, but Wen Sujin has a head of her own. She did not want to get married and wanted to be independent and free, so she going to the palace and staying there when she had so many chances to leave just did not make sense. I did read that this is based on a novel or something and she is supposed to be like 14 years old, which would explain her rash decisions.
I think this was unnecessarily long which made the story drag. Also, it could have been better in the romance department. There should have been more romantic scenes and they should have been honest with their feelings a lot sooner. I believe in second chances but some characters were given way too many in my opinion. I know it is hard when you do not have enough money, but no money is worth losing your dignity, reputation, friends and risking going to jail or dying.
But aside from that, there were a lot of characters I liked. The male lead was so sweet and patiently waited for the female lead to reciprocate his love, the friend was always on top of things and was of key importance in solving most of the issues, and there were so many other but I do not want to go to deep into them or I might spoil it for you.
That drama made me remember why I like to be spoiled with the ending! lol
Yeah. I knew what would happen to the female lead before starting, but was still disappointed that instead of the story having a proper conclusion, even if it was the female lead passing away and the male lead realizing what had happened, they gave us flashbacks....FLASHBACKS. Like, you should only use those as fillers, not to wrap up a story. I was kind of angry at the "ending" they gave us.
I read spoilers so I started this knowing how it would end, but still, the way it ended was disappointing in the way things were wrapped up. This drama could have been much better. I don’t know what it is with most Chinese writers but it seems they hate seeing people happy or stories have a proper conclusion. Sigh
