After watching, I get the hate. It is not because of the angst. It is because of the way it was created. It is not a well written story that is full of angst. It is just a badly written story that relies on plot holes and character’s stupidity to create angst. They made the male lead the dumbest person for over half of the drama and then suddenly he is able to pick up on things, make plans and stuff. Seriously? What did he take to suddenly become so smart? Or could it be he also has an identical twin, one that actually has a working brain, and he is the one we see in the last episodes??
There were also several plot holes that I will not mention as this comment would become a huge spoiler. The ending was meh to say the least.
I had this set as not interested for quite some time but decided to give it a try as it has happened before that I watched a drama that I was originally not going to watch and it was surprisingly good. This was NOT one of those cases. It is as bad as everyone is saying. Not the worst lakorn I have watched but definitely VERY FAR from being good.
So I’m guessing that no one is gonna be subbing this?
There was someone subbing it but because of some really rude people who felt entitled to things, the subber ended up dropping it. I dont know if there will ever be someone else subbing this. The few episodes I watched did not meet my expectations tho. The trailer and synopsis made it look a lot more interesting than it actually is.
Why? I have only seen a few of her dramas and I dont consider her either a good actress nor a bad actress. I am…
Listening Snow Tower is in in my "not interested" list. The trailer and comments did not convince me to watch it. What is Tales of a Fashion Buyer about? There is not much info here on MDL so I have no idea if it would be the kind of drama I would like.
Why? I have only seen a few of her dramas and I dont consider her either a good actress nor a bad actress. I am…
Yeah The Legends was really good. The female lead was super interesting and the male lead was just my cup of tea, and I am not only talking about his looks. I really liked how loyal he was even after he thought she had died or when she was trying everything to hurt him. And Love By Hypnotic was one of my favorite romantic chinese dramas of the year 2019. I like strong women in dramas. I don’t know if you will like it, but maybe try watching The Romance of Hua Rong. I have not finished it yet but the female lead is the not the type to sit and cry, is good at fighting and is pretty smart. Most of the times the male lead is one step ahead of her but she manages to fool him and other people a lot of times. And together they make a pretty good team.
Is it that obvious? If so I get it, it just seems strange.
The age difference is so obvious that the entire time I was watching the first episode I still could not believe she was the female lead and thought that the real female lead would appear soon. I thought there is no way she is the female lead, she must be someone’s mother or an elder that will play a big role in the story. But nope, looking at the cast confirmed it, she is in fact the female lead. And it seems they tried so hard to make her look younger than her age that she looks weird. I really could not keep watching. But hey, give it a try and then decide. If like me you cant get past episode 1 then you would not have wasted that much time watching.
I agree with what most people said about this drama. But dont make the same mistake I made. I put off watching…
So, yeah the plot itself was far from good or different. It was full of clichés and unrealistic situations. I will mention some:
- Every episode, in some episodes several times, someone (most likely one or both of the main leads) would be attacked, kidnapped, bombed, almost raped, be sent to the hospital, misunderstand something or someone, and so on.
- There were several boats being bombed, with several people involved, yet only 3 of them actually died. Everyone else managed to survive somehow. What are the odds?
- There were 2 incidents of someone being set on fire, directly on fire, gasoline all over them, the lighter was thrown directly at them, there was no one near to help put out the fire in a matter of just a few seconds, yet in both of those incidents the victims survived. Again, what are the odds?
- The villains are not that smart and its not like the main leads are stupid, yet they take a long time, a REALLY long time to know who they are. One of them I could understand why they would not suspect, but the other would be the first person I would look into right after the first attack happened when they started investigating. It was the most obvious person, the one with access to things, the one who shared just enough information with the main leads and in return always knew what they were up to next and where they would be. Why didnt the main leads ever question how the villains knew right away when they were close to finding something, or how they knew where they would be next? How come the important evidences were always in that person’s hands and somehow never reached the main leads when she was willingly "helping" them? It made no sense and happened only for the sake of dragging the plot.
- If you thought the female leads’ mother was nuts, meet the male lead’s mother. Jealousy can really destroy someone from the inside and turn them into someone crazy.
-There is more but I dont want to make this comment even longer.
What I LIKED, aside from the things I already mentioned: -There was no crazy second female lead that loves the male lead and/or his money and will do anything to separate him from the female lead. There were 3 women that could possibly have been just that, but they werent.
- The one that could be considered the second female lead and that the male lead’s mother tried to pair with her son. But she not only did not fall in love with him and saw him only as a friend, but she also helped him and the female lead to have secret meetings and ended up becoming good friends with her.
- The one that at first looked like the typical dumb and sluty supporting character that wants to throw herself at the main lead. She was actually much more than that. She never liked the male lead and although she almost came between the main leads BIG TIME because of her aunt’s order, at the key moment she backed out and was the hero of the day. She also had many chances of turning evil considering several things about her background, what she went through and who she fell in love with, yet she remained as one of the good guys.
-The one that came out of nowhere and stayed for a short time, had the looks and behavior of your typical supporting female lead that really wants to get into the male lead’s pants but was just a good friend that helped in a dumb plan (worthy of this weak plot) to make the female lead be honest with her feelings. She left as she came, in the same episode, and was also one of the good guys.
-There were also 2 female employees that I never saw as potentially interested in the male lead, but that I knew could possibly betray the female lead’s trust because this is a lakorn and that is a common thing, but I realized after some time that would not happen so yay, another cliché avoided.
Now you decide. If you can deal with the typical lakorn plot and also like the things I mentioned that were positive things in this drama, then give it a try and dont judge it solely on the comments. Watch a few episodes and then decide. Btw, dont be too put off about the misunderstandings between the main leads as those are fully and finally solved a little bit after halfway through and after that the main leads always trust each other, aside from 1 or 2 incidents that are easily solved. And even before that, the male lead was nowhere as cruel with the female lead as some male leads we have seen out there. That is due to him being kind as a person so he is unable to deeply hurt other people, specially the woman he loves.
I agree with what most people said about this drama. But dont make the same mistake I made. I put off watching this because of the comments, which, dont get me wrong, were completely correct, but a long time after I first came across it and after I barely remembered the 1st one, I felt like giving it a try. And guess what, I did not hate it. In fact I quite liked it. But for the right reasons. Because of the cast, because of the chemistry between the main leads, because of some characters that managed to stir away from the clichés, even if the drama was full of them. The beautiful scenery also helped. It is winter right now, but if it was summer I would so want to swim on those beautiful waters.
If you want to know if you personally would enjoy this drama, then read the spoiler below. I will not spoil it too much, like revealing names and stuff.
Why? I have only seen a few of her dramas and I dont consider her either a good actress nor a bad actress. I am…
I believe so, that the directing is a huge influence. And like I said, I am not particularly blaming the actress. I just personally have a hard time watching her on screen because she does not feel human. I was not joking when I said she would be really good in the role of a robot. She would nail the role. But as playing a human with emotions, crying, laughing, and so on, I cant feel her emotions on screen. If the problem is with the people directing, then she needs to be more selective with her roles, because the ones I have seen have not done anything for her as an actress. Of course that is my personal opinion. I am not hating on her or anything.
I was going to watch this but could not even get past episode 1. They picked someone almost as old as my mother to play the female lead...and its not like you cant tell she is that old. And then one of the main leads that is part of the love triangle thing is 15 years younger than her. 15 YEARS, not 5, not 10. He could literally be her son. How am I going to be able to watch any romantic scenes between them? I won’t. So, sadly, I will have to drop this one.
I liked the trust and respect between the main leads but I felt the story needed something more to keep it interesting. Good thing they kept it short with 12 episodes. Any longer and it would have been hard to keep watching.
I find my ways. Dailymotion videos can be easily watched by adding /embed after the word videos in the link. No ads, no distractions. But she has not really been uploading to dailymotion nowadays. The server she uses the most now is almost impossible for me to watch while streaming because it is slow, has a bunch of ads and stops working out of nowhere. But since I am a stubborn person I found a way to download the episodes and watch them on my pc. I dont share that way with people because I know some might use it to upload Nekos projects to other websites like kissasian and dramanice.
Why? I have only seen a few of her dramas and I dont consider her either a good actress nor a bad actress. I am…
I have never watched Rivers Flows To You so I cant comment on her acting there. I get that actresses want to look good and might not want to make some expressions, but being expressionless actually has the opposite effect. For me the most important things in a drama are plot and acting. So I am not one of those people that get "distracted by the handsome hunks", but I do agree I did not really like that much any of the dramas I watched where she was the main lead and it was not only her fault, it was because the plot itself was not that good. But I still cannot get over the fact that it feels like I am watching a robot. She would actually do really good in a drama where the female lead is a robot. So I guess she has to pick better dramas to star in and worry less about the way she looks on screen cause having no expression on her face makes her look worse than if she was doing some weird expression. I have watched hundreds of chinese dramas and the other actresses seem to have no problem with doing silly faces and crying like babies. It is acting, you’re supposed to worry about how your expressions and emotions come out, not if you look pretty. It is acting, not modeling.
I watched the first 5 eps a few months ago and havent gone back to it. The story and characters are not making me stick to it. It’s like the writers thought oh we have a nice idea for a plot. Now, how about trolling the viewers and not following that idea at all? How about making the main leads have zero chemistry? Really, I havent dropped it yet in case some day I have literally nothing to watch and get back to this one...but that has yet to happen.
Yeah, I have watched almost all of the dramas subbed by Neko and have been following her for about a year and have never seen this drama there so I was confused.
I am surprised this is still not subbed. The main actors are well known and the plot seems interesting. Most historical thai dramas with romance between a slave and a "noble" person, have the woman as the slave and the man as the one with a higher position in society. So it would be interesting to see it the other way around. But over 5 years later and this keeps going unnoticed.
