I have yet to start. How is the romance? The trailer made it seem like it is very sad. Do they end up together?…
So he married someone else. Yikes I kinda knew that would be a possibility since he is the crown prince. So at the end he is married to both of them or let me guess, his wife dies at some point in the story?
?? I am confused. Are you talking about the male lead? When was he a jerk? He is one of the nicest and most loyal…
Yeah, she was the same person. Eva was just the confident and loved by everyone side of YY. The overall personality was the same, but as Eva she felt the love and respect she did not as YY, and that made her more confident and have a brighter personality. But at the end of the day they were one and the same. I liked how in the last few episodes she finally embraced her fat body and accepted it and made others accept her too. And a lot of that confidence came from the male lead never rejecting her or feeling embarrassed being with her as YY, even tho she herself felt bad about it. He never saw her as a fat girl like society did. He simply saw her as YY. And the fact that he accepted her as she was gave her confidence to also accept herself. Which is why I am able to forgive the male lead for the instances in which he acted like a jerk. Lol Also, having a chinese drama show such a message, that being fat is not a crime and that you should accept yourself the way you are, is rare since being really thin is the standard.
If you change one of the main leads in a sequel, that’s it for me. It does not matter how good I think the story is, I will not even give it a try. It makes me completely disconnect from the story and the chemistry and romance built in the previous season go to waste. Thankfully this was a drama I did not even like that much. But it still bothers me when they do this.
I guess they were short on money, once that ending. Rushed is an understatement. And what is supposed to be the message? Was it all worth it? Revenges are never worth it, but this one takes the cake for the least rewarded revenge. It felt like watching a bunch of monkeys running towards a pile of bananas but 90% of them died on their way. Lol
I honestly dont get why this has such a high rating. The male lead is quite dumb and spineless, the second male lead is cruel and stupid to a whole other level, the second female lead is pitiful and the only main character I really liked was the female lead. I guess if you’re a huge fan of wuxia/martials arts this would be your cup of tea. Other than that I cannot see what else is so good about this drama compared to other chinese historical dramas.
The female lead was really cool tho. She was great at martial arts, smart and kind. And let’s not forget - pretty. For once the male lead was the one who fell short compared to her. Usually it is the other way around.
?? I am confused. Are you talking about the male lead? When was he a jerk? He is one of the nicest and most loyal…
I know what you mean. He was letting his confusion be seen through his behavior. His heart was telling him it was her, but then the rational part of him was telling him it could not possibly be her - because how can the same person show up thin and then fat all in the same day, right? Lol It bothered me a little but not too much for the reason that the female lead knew he loved YY so she would never get too hurt by him rejecting Eva. Her competition was herself so that made him less of a jerk than if they were 2 completely different women. But yeah, the best thing would have been for him to not get involved with Eva until he was sure for a fact she was YY. But I can understand his struggle, since they are in fact the same person, he could not help but fall for Eva. She had the same smile, kindness and bright personality. Also, imagine if we waited until Eva admitted she was YY for him to start to flirt with her....imagine how boring it would have been since she was so stubborn and did not want to come out and say it: Yes, I am YY. The romantic scenes, kisses and interactions between them would be a lot less. T T
Season 1 has it flaws but at least was interesting to watch. This one was not only boring and frustrating but is also only available raw or with machine generated subs. And lets not even talk about the ending. It somehow managed to be even worse than the 1st season’s ending. What a waste of a promising plot...and of time.
I was quite disappointed to be honest. I was bored most of the time, when I was not bored then I was angry at the characters actions and only a few times was I able to enjoy some romantic scenes. What the male lead did in the beginning was not only a huge betrayal but it was also almost as cruel as if he had killed her. He put her in a situation where she had to pick either to live an unhappy married life with someone she did not love or become a divorced woman, which is still seen with bad eyes nowadays, but was a lot worse back then. Any not 2 dimensional character would take a LONG time to forgive that, if ever, but of course this drama is full of those. There were also a lot of other things that I did not like in the plot/characters. The ending was unnecessarily dramatic and cliché.
I have watched quite a lot of dramas set in this period of history and this one was one of the least interesting ones. But hey, maybe you will like it so dont let my comment stop you from giving it a try.
It had an interesting start but most of it was people going around in circles and after so many episodes it felt like the story had barely any development. The ending was also underwhelming. But after finishing it I am not sure I should be angry at how disappointing the story turned out cause that is exactly what money does to you. Money is the root of all kinds of problems. Having too little will have you struggling to live, having to much will ruin you and the people around you. I think at the end of the day that is the message the writers were trying to show us. You should control money, not let it control you.
So overall, it is far from being a masterpiece but it is not completely bad. After weighing down everything, I gave it a 6.5, which is the rating I give to dramas I kinda liked but would never re-watch.
Hi! In episode 21, Eva keep saying the word hunch to Dongsheng. I don't quite get it/what it means. Can someone…
The translation should have not been hunch. It did not make much sense. But yeah, it meant she got an idea or remembered something she wanted to add to the design.
I did not love it but I liked it. It was not amazing or anything but it has a good message and I liked how the male lead was so loyal to his feelings and loved her no matter what she looked like.
If the kdrama Perfume and the cdrama Flavour It’s Yours had a child, it would be this drama. So if you liked either or both of them, you will probably enjoy this one too.
Someone is really excited about this. It is the first time I have seen someone write so many comments in a row here on MDL and all in the same hour. Almost thought it was spam. XD
I wanted to like it, I really did, but among many other, there were 3 MAIN reasons why this drama turned out to be a mess:
1 - Although in the beginning the female lead is sold to us as someone who falls in love easily and is in a hurry to get married, in fact she is one of the few characters that seems to be consistent about her feelings. Most of the characters either liked someone and then suddenly started to like someone else, thought they liked someone but were mistaken about their feelings, tried to like someone to forget someone else, suddenly realized they like someone who has always been there but that they treated like trash,...
2 - The amount of flashbacks is ridiculous. Flashbacks are something that need to be used with caution. They should only be used in important scenes to show us how the character is thinking about something, remembering something or making an important realization. But this drama has flashbacks in almost every episode, if not every, and in some episodes it has several of them. Some are shorter, but a lot of them can be as long as 3 minutes. That said, out of the 44 episodes this dramas has, you will probably have to go through 2-4 eps worth of flashbacks. That can really decrease the enjoyment you have watching a drama.
3 - Because of the direction the writers decided to take the drama, which was originally showing us 2 completely different people who were initially enemies working together as a team, being good at their job because one fills in what the other lacks and then slowly falling in love, in the last 20 episodes or so, the "supporting" characters took over the story and the main leads were barely showing up in some episodes. It was as if the writers thought as soon as they got together there was no need to include them in story anymore, even tho they are the MAIN characters. We are barely shown any moments of them together as a couple or intimacy like hugs and kisses. Most of their scenes together from then on are either solving business issues or playing a part in helping other people’s relationships. What about them as a couple? No dates, no nothing?
This could have been a pretty good drama, but it ended up being one that had such huge flaws that you cannot pretend they are not there. The 3 reasons I mentioned are just the main ones. There were so many other things that bothered me. What a shame!
I agree with you. I have not watched it yet but I am not sure I want to after reading your comment and watching…
I did not like the drama version of Itazura that much. I guess it felt less ok for Irie to treat Kotoko like trash when the characters were portrayed by real people. XD
"the doctor cures the illness but the nurse looks after people"I don't think this person has ever been to a hospital.…
I agree with you. I have not watched it yet but I am not sure I want to after reading your comment and watching the trailer. It seems like the male lead is one of those people that treats everyone like they are inferior to him and the female lead acts like a dog with her tail wagging around him no matter how he treats her. Itazura na Kiss (anime version) was one of the few stories with a similar dynamic between the main couple that I was able to watch, re-watch and love.
I kinda knew that would be a possibility since he is the crown prince. So at the end he is married to both of them or let me guess, his wife dies at some point in the story?
