I think I might be entering that phase too. I started with kdramas, then slowly started watching chinese and thai too. At first I disliked most thai dramas. I was not used to the language, it sounded weird, the style was also very different with all the slap and kiss, yelling and stuff. But in the past few years I started to watch more and more chinese and thai dramas and when I think about it, the last year or so I have probably watched more thai dramas than kdramas. There were still some great ones I watched last year but I have been feeling bored more and more often while watching korean dramas. Might be because the whole CEO handsome male lead vs poor and not so good looking female lead recipe has been user over and over again. Lol

I have probably watched about 100 thai dramas last year, and I am not exaggerating. I have a lot of time on my hands since I work as a freelancer. XD

Who did Thaet end up with here?
Ikr, I need to know before I decide if I want to keep watching the remake. My guess is as this is almost as old as me, she most definitely ends up with her manwhore of a husband.

I have only watched the first 2 eps and I am not sure if I want to keep watching. I cannot stand people like the male lead, and honestly find them disgusting. Because it is not just about sleeping around. It is also the other things you do to keep that lifestyle, like lying. A person like him, even if he drops the mistresses at some point to stop his wife from leaving, sooner or later he will cheat on her again. He will only need an opportunity and an easy woman just like him.

If she ended up with the second male lead, then that would be another story. But my experience watching lakorns tells me she will end up with her manwhore of a husband. And that is making me question if I should keep watching or not.

I will be honest, I skipped A LOT, entire episodes even.

I was really bothered by the female lead’s attitude. A baby’s life is not to be taken so lightly that you would decide on an abortion just because the baby is arriving at a not so convenient time. And then just as fast as you decide on it, you decide not to do it, again making that decision on a whim, as if you are trying to decide if you are going to buy that piece of clothing or leave the store empty handed.

Why does everyone say its so messy? (havent started watching myself yet)
The first 3 episodes are kind of boring and all over the place. It gets better in episode 4, so maybe it will not be as bad in the following episodes. Also, the male lead is not a rescue worker like the synopsis says. He has another job and becomes a rescue worker for the wrong reasons. That is why I myself am not sure how I feel about this drama. Hopefully, it will get better. The preview at the end of ep 4 makes me believe it will.

The first 3 episodes were meh, then ep 4 picked up the pace a little and had those funny/scary scenes at the hospital. The male lead is also finally doing the job the synopsis talks about, but I just don’t like his reasoning. I went in believing he was someone who had a great job saving people, but it turns out he is just someone doing it for selfish reasons, at least for now. So I am still not sure how I feel about this drama. I need to watch more episodes before I decide.

My experience with kdramas tells me that yes, this will be only 1 season, but the chances of it being 10 episodes or less is extremely low. Most kdramas have at least 16 episodes, that is the most common number. Some have more and once in a while there will be a kdrama with like 12 eps. Below that they are usually called Specials. I don’t think it is the case for this one, so there is a really high chance this will have 16 eps or more, not less.

What I usually do when I am not sure about a drama is watching the 1st ep, sometimes watching a few more if I am still unsure. If it grabs my attention then I watch it. ^^

Hope they won't divide this kdrama into seasons.... that we later have to wait for such a long time.
Why would you think that? Because it is airing on Netflix? I know, that is why I hate Netflix - they either air trashy stuff or split the good ones into seasons. Good news is that kdramas rarely have several seasons. Netflix has been doing it with chinese and thai dramas tho, so they might soon start doing the same with kdramas. T T

Part of me wants to watch it right now because I cant wait anymore but the other part of me wants to keep my mental sanity and wait for season 2 since I read some spoilers and know how this one ends. T T

This remake is keeping very true to the original, however the original is 16 episodes of 1hr each and this remake…
Yeah, thats what is keeping me from starting it. I already know the plot, thought the original dragged a little at some point, so I am not sure I would enjoy watching a remake that has exactly the same plot but is a lot longer. Also, I have watched several dramas with the main leads and I am not sure they have any chemistry. I just cannot imagine them as a couple. All these things are keeping me from starting it. I have had this drama on my plan to watch list for a long time, even before it started airing.

I was expecting this to be some deep story, one that might make me cry, but it turned out to be extremely boring. Also, the setting of the whole movie felt very old, hard to believe this is a movie from the year 2019.

Their biggest problem was lack of communication. He never said I love you and I am not cheating on you and she…
Yeah, even in real life one of the main reasons for divorces is lack of communication, respect and understanding. A relationship can only work if you see the other person as important as yourself and are able to concede sometimes. For example, imagine a couple that the man really likes meat but the woman is vegetarian or vegan. Would it be fair for him to take her out to dinner to a restaurant that only serves meat? And should she forbid him from eating meat at home just because she herself does not eat it? There is always a middle ground in a relationship and if one or both are not willing to meet that middle ground, the relationship wont work.

The plot is interesting but then they added that typical chinese drama dragginess to it. The ending was also a little underwhelming. I have a feeling that if they make a korean remake, since this is based on a korean webtoon anyway, I will have more fun watching it than I did with this version.

How come the name of the characters cast is different from that of the summary?
I question that and this part of the last sentence "Wu Zhong Lu's prostitute, Dai Xuan,". Like what?

Oh well, the synopsis might be completely off. It would not be the first time it happens. Let’s wait until it airs and see what the story is really about.
I had this on hold for several months while watching a bunch of other dramas because I just never felt like going back to it. But I had to finish it eventually so I forced myself to watch it.
My main problem with this drama is the plot. I am not sure where the writers were trying to go as they focused on several things at the same time: the matchmaking of random people, the female lead training to be a noble lady, the king and his miserable self (probably the most pitiful character of this story), the romance between 2 main couples, and so on.

There was not a clear line as to what the direction of the story was. Sometimes it felt like I was watching an episodic kind of drama which was about matchmaking, sometimes it felt like a slow paced story about a man who was forced to become king, sometimes it felt like I was watching a romance. Because the direction of the story was not clear, I myself was not clear about the way I felt about the drama either. The cast was good, although it felt as if they were more worried about casting a bunch of good looking men than actually making an interesting plot, the acting was not bad either. But at the end of the day it comes down to how much I enjoyed the drama as a whole. And the fact is there were only a few moments I felt this drama was not a complete waste of my time.

The plot was not interesting enough, I saw no chemistry between the main couple and the ending was underwhelming, even if I had no expectations at all. It is sad to say that this was one of those dramas I completed just for the sake of completing it.

You can also use an android emulator, like Bluestacks
Yeah. The only time I can think people would do that is if they are not home and have to travel on a train for hours or something so they could use their phone to catch up with some dramas. Or if they do not have a computer or its broken atm. But still, most people would be watching on a pc, so a web version would be really great. And they already have one anyway, they just have to translate the website and add the option for subs in the episodes. Maybe it will happen some day...hopefully.

I did not need to go to all that trouble, thankfully. I have used emulators before, including the one you mentioned, and it eats up your computer RAM.

Both my android and pc have the cast option, so I just needed to turn on wifi on my phone and select cast and it would cast right away. But it is a lot easier to watch directly on my pc. It is also easier to skip scenes with a mouse than using your phone, especially when there was some sort of bug at the time and I would have to reactivate the subs every time I skipped scenes. And unfortunately I felt like skipping a lot while watching this. So overall it was not the most pleasant experience.
On Devastating Beauty Feb 1, 2020
As if it wasnt bad enough that this isnt fully subbed, there is something off about it. The pace felt weird. The characters would fall in and out of love too fast. The plot development was also slow considering this is 35 episodes long and the ending was a mess. It did not make sense, it was not satisfying and it just did not feel like an ending...almost as if a second season was supposed to exist. But it doesnt and I have not seen any information that points to that ever happening.

Someone in the comments stated that this felt like a remake of Empress Ki, which at first I could not even understand but later I did find some similarities, although the story itself was completely different. But the plot, characters, acting, everything about this drama is nowhere near the quality of Empress Ki, which was one of my favourite historical kdramas at the time I watched, despite the ending.

After watching this I am left disappointed. What was the point of the whole drama? What kind of ending was that? I now understand the 6.6 rating.

Hi I'm so sorry you've been through such a terrible experience. I don't know whether this drama would be a trigger…
Yeah. Newer ones are starting to stray away from all the violence against women since the mentality of thai people is changing with younger generations. So there have been a lot of thai dramas coming out that are easy to watch. You might still see some supporting characters being victims of some sort of violence but that is expected since it portrays the reality of society.
I usually do some research for every drama I watch. I try not to read spoilers but I like to know before I watch if the ending is tragic or if the male lead is a jerk and stuff like that just so I can decide if it’s worth watching.
