I haven’t seen a female lead with so little screen time since I watched the brazilian soap opera Duas Caras. I had to skip entire episodes to be able to see Zanilia. I dont know if that was how the script was suposed to be or if Zanilia was busy filming other dramas, but the fact is a female lead that has less screen time than some supporting characters cannot really be called a female "lead". Anyway, it did have some positive parts and scenes I enjoyed watching but they get burried under all the negative things. 5.5/10 is the highest I can give this drama. In my opinion, it doesnt have much rewatch value.
On The Wife's Secret Aug 17, 2017
It took me about 8 hours to finish watching 54 episodes (45 mins each). I think that says a lot about how I felt while watching this. The main leads are 2 of my favourite chinese actors and that was the reason I decided to watch this in the first place. I felt like I was watching a soap opera, too many misunderstandings, annoying people and way too predictable.

In the first few episodes you can already figure out 2 or 3 major parts to the plot that are only revealed almost at the end so you go like: ahh, what a surprise, I knew that 50 episodes ago.

I did not drop it as it is not that bad, I just skipped A LOT of scenes. Some episodes were completely ignored as I felt I would not miss anything if I did not watch them.

Overall, its not a bad drama. I didnt hate it, but I didnt love it either. For me it has no rewatch value. 5.5/10

Hum...where do I start? There is not much to the story, it feels like there is no plot. The idea of the game world is original, different from everything else BUT I think they dragged a lot of things and it felt boring for me. Like most people, the male lead was what kept me watching it. Tbh, I am not a fan of Zheng Shuang. You know when you try watching a drama that is not really your kind of drama but stars an actor/actress you really like? It happens the opposite when Zheng Shuang is involved. I have watched 2 other dramas with her and Idk and Im sorry, Im not hating on her but I just cant enjoy her acting. Yeah, she is pretty but thats it. Most of the times she has no expressions (almost feels like she did some plastic surgery and cant move her face muscles) and it was hard watching those kisses. I mean, the male lead did some of the best kisses I have seen in dramas and she would just stand there and not even move her mouth. It takes 2 to tango and I felt like the male lead was the only one trying. I would have liked this way more if any other actress was the female lead.

Also, no review can be accurate with only watching the first episode. The first episode is only the introduction of the story and characters. You cant judge a drama for the first episode only. I have also dropped some dramas on the first episode because I did not find them interesting. But in those cases I only commented or completely ignored it. I never wrote a review for a drama that I dropped in the first episode(s).

It would be unfair to judge something I didnt even watch and it could keep other people from watching it because of my bad review, which would not be accurate since I didnt watch it at all.

Unless there is a second season with the SAME main leads, my rating for this drama will stay as a 6.5/10. I had high expectations for this one. It started great, then like people are saying, it became Yan Xun’s story and not Xing Er’s. If there is a second season going more into detail about Xing Er’s past, then the cliffhanger ending becomes a little more acceptable and my rating can go up to 8 (maybe?). If they do not make a second season my rating will stay like this. If they use a different actress for the main female lead then I will probably not even bother watching it. After going through so many hours of Zhao Zanilia as Xing Er, there is no way I can associate the character with any other face that is not the face of Zanilia. It will just feel like an entirely different drama for me and I wont be able to see the new actress being intimate with the male lead without feeling he is cheating on Xing Er. I am sorry, but thats how I feel about it.

Great start, the first few episodes got me super excited about the story, then it gets a little draggy and predictable and the ending was meh. I felt something was missing and this could have been so much more. But at the end of the day, overall, I still feel like giving it a good rating (8/10) and I will definitely watch it again. If some things were done differently this would have been easily a 10/10 drama and one of my favourites.

I am aware of that and I will edit my review once I finish watching all the episodes. There was no review on this and I am enjoying it so much so I wrote one just so people who were not sure if they should watch it or not could have an idea of what other people think about it and decide if it is their kind of drama.

I saw that many other dramas that are still airing already have reviews and I find them helpful so I can decide if I want to pick a drama or not bother starting it. Ofc my review and rating might change in a few days after I finish watching the entire drama but while it is still airing I hope it will be helpful to other people.

The romance was super sweet. It was nice to see the male falling in love first and pursuing the girl like his life depends on it. Usually its the girl that follows the guy around like a puppy and keeps getting rejected till he finally falls in love with her. So it was nice to watch something different. You can tell from the first episode that he REALLY loves her. The romance was very fast paced in the beggining, then slow paced, then fast again then they just dragged the story for more than 20 episodes for no reason. I would have given this a 10 when I rated it but I had to skipp so many scenes. It felt like I was watching a soap opera. Everything took too long to happen, the supporting characters took too much screen time (not that I didnt like the supporting characters),... The way the story started and how fast things happened in the beggining this could have been easily a 20-30 episodes drama, but they made 72 episodes so the rewatching value for people who do not like skipping scenes all the time and enjoy binge-watching is very little. I would watch this again for the main leads story which was very sweet, IF it was shorter. That said, at least for me, this was a one time drama. I do not have the patience to go through all those 72 episodes a second time.

I know what you mean. Some things feel very similar to Go Princess Go. I think I read somewhere that either the director or something was the same, so it makes sense both dramas give the same feeling. At the moment this drama is one of my favorites and I enjoy every episode. I have not started Princess Agents yet as I was waiting for it to finish airing. I usually do not start a drama if it has not finished airing or is not fully subbed since I hate having to wait so I can watch the next episode. The Eternal Love was an exception to the rule as I watched the first episode out of curiosity and could not stop myself from watching the other ones as they are available with english subs.

From what I have read you are not the only one who is disappointed with Princess Agents. I have/had high expectations but now I am not so sure. I will still watch it but I will have in mind that I should not expect too much from it or I might not enjoy it as much.
On Introduction of the Princess Aug 1, 2017
So, to save a lot of people from being disappointed after hours and 44 episodes of watching this drama, I requested from mydramalist staff to add Tragedy as a genre. This is NOT a spoiler. This drama should definitely have Tragedy added up there next to Historical, Romance and Drama.

I already knew what I was getting into from reading the comments but someone else might not read them and then be disappointed with how things turn out at the end. This drama is good, well written, I enjoyed it BUT it is a CHINESE drama afterall and happy ever after, especially in historical dramas, is something you do not see very often.

I have made a request for this drama on several drama websites. I hope a lot of people can do the same so we can watch it with english subs. The story seems interesting but I dont understand chinese so I wont be able to watch it without subs. I believe that is the case for a lot of other people.

I liked the female lead character, it was refreshing to watch.Other than that the romance and story overall were just so-so for me. I skipped a lot of scenes and had breaks of days between episodes, which never happens when I really like a drama. It wasnt bad, but it is not something I feel like rewatching.
On Splash Splash Love Jul 21, 2017
I watched this before and watched it again today since I have to go somewhere later and didnt have time to watch an entire drama. This was like 2 hours so it was perfect for the time I had. I think it could have been better but its not bad, it had some pretty funny parts and sweet moments. Watch it on a day you dont have enough time to watch a 16 episodes drama. It will probably keep you entertained for the little time you have available.

Okay, so there is so much wrong with this drama that I won't even start xD That said, don't expect a…
I know what you mean. I watched it only for the romance and the comedy was good too, there were a lot of moments that made me laugh or at least smirk. But the story itself is full of flaws, a lot of things weren’t explained properly or even made sense. Oh well, its time travel so we can’t expect it to make sense. XD

Overall I still enjoyed watching it.

Title Prince of Lan Ling Spoiler
6 hours later I have finished this. I skipped through a lot of things after like episode 32. The second female lead, that is if you can even call her that, got too annoying for me to handle it without skipping her scenes. The emperor was an idiot who shouldnt have been an emperor in the first place. The ending wasnt completely bad but her death was just stupid. She only needed to stay home and wait for the zhou emperor to do his thing and she could be alive and living happily ever after with her husband and son. Sigh
On Prince of Lan Ling Jul 19, 2017
I am like half way through the drama right now but I have to say that after watching episode 21 Xiao Dong is oficially my favourite supporting character ever. I mean, everyone who has watched the first few episodes knows what a jerk he was the first time he met Xue Wu. Seeing the changes his character went through made it really easy for me to forgive and forget what a jerk he was in the past. I dont know if anyone else has the same opinion about him? Anyway, I dont want to spoil it for people who havent started watching this drama yet so Im going to shush. XD
On My Little Princess Jul 17, 2017
It was a good romance/school drama to take a break from all the serious historical dramas I have been watching lately. I wouldn’t say it is one of the best dramas I have watched and it definitely has some flaws, but I enjoyed watching it.
On Go Princess, Go! Jul 17, 2017
I should have not found this interesting but for some weird reason I did. I felt it was a good break from all the political/tragedy/dragging boring plots I had to go through lately. It had a lot of funny parts, some I had to actually pause the video just so I could go "did she/he really just say/did that??" and then laugh till I cried. The Korean references even tho this is a Chinese drama just made it even better. The ending was meh, kinda confusing, kinda sucked, but since I wasnt in this seriously and just wanted a break from all the serious dramas I have been watching lately (deaths/misunderstandings/tragedy), I felt it was still worth watching.

For a moment I believed I was the one who wrote this review. Your thoughts are my thoughts exactly. I also wish the 2nd part was focused on the main couple. 50 episodes focused on Wu Ji and Huan Er would have been my cup of tea. I also only watched the sequel because of them and fast fowarded to their scenes.

I have not watched Prince of Lan Ling yet but it is on my plan to watch list as I have read a lot of positive reviews about it and it seems like my kind of drama. One that I have already watched and that I found it has some similarities to this one is Perfect Couple. Arranged marriage, swapping of the bride and all that.
