Not feeling it. I think I will put it on hold until it finishes airing.

I tried watching for Park Seo Joon but the plot did not grab me. The actress playing the FL, for some reason, every drama she has been in I either did not watch or was not my cup of tea. I watched only the 1st episode so maybe it gets better but at this point I do not feel like investing my time without knowing that for sure. Will wait until all episodes are out to see what people are saying about it and decide if its worth giving another chance.

My only defense is that the flashbacks in the early eps were done in a novel way and really well Tbh even doh…
At the beginning, like the first few episodes, I also thought it was clever to do that. But it only made sense to do that in the beginning. When they kept doing it for the entire drama it just messed with the pace of an already slow paced drama. Even something good can become too much when overused, just like an overly sweet cake that tastes great but once you reach the 3rd bite you start feeling sick and want to stop eating.

You explained everything well! I'm not oppose to slow burn, lazy, slice of life, second chance romance (Road Home!)…
Although slice of life and slow burn plots are not my cup of tea, I have watched a few dramas, anime, etc with this genre that were well executed and found myself invested in them but this one is just outright boring.

It is like they tried to serve us a fancy dish, took everything into consideration while preparing it but forgot to add salt to the food and served this bland dish that we have to force ourselves to finish.

My problem with the flashbacks was not the flashbacks themselves but the way they were edited in. And yes, their love story is so underwhelming, I did not feel much emotion from them.

On Second Chance Romance Dec 10, 2025
This does not deserve a first chance, much less a second chance. Why? Here are just a "few" reasons why:

- The main leads barelly spend any time together for about the first half of the drama;
- The flashbacks to their younger days are thrown in out of nowhere at every moment in a way that does not feel natural;
- There is no chemistry, not between the leads nor between her and her child. It all feels so acted out, there is no emotion;
- The pacing of the drama is already pretty slow but they thrown in supporting characters and their relationships to drag things even further;
- All big reveals that should come with some drama (like the clearing up of past misunderstandings or the kid finding out she is his mother) are done in such an underwhelming way, even when we had to wait a long time for them to happen, that you just want to say: Wait, that's it?
- There is no climax. The drama ends as bland as it starts. You know it is the last episode because there are no more episodes after episode 28.
- Extra: No one is held accountable for the very serious things they did. Everything is swept under a rug, like the dirt you need to hide but are too lazy to actually clean up so you just sweep it under a rug because if you cannot see it, it does not exist.

There is so much more I could say but to sum it up: watching this will be a HUGE waste of your time.

They could have made this more tolerable if the leads had chemistry and actually spent time together or if they focused more on her getting close to her son and had given us a lot of heartwarming mother-son moments. I cannot recommend this at all, it fails at all genres and at whatever it was trying to accomplish.

The first half was decent but, about halfway, the cases and everything that was going on felt a bit boring and I started to skip scenes. Still not a bad drama if you like investigation and Chinese Republican Era dramas. Plus, a lot of dramas from this era end in tragedy, and without giving spoilers, this one has a decend ending.

What scenes from the intro never happened
By the end yes but I created this scenario in my mind early on. I thought she might get arrested and then sent to a mental institution or something. I mean, she was never even diagnosed.

I want a spoiler guys... is there a true romance in this drama? I don't want a heavy heart throughout without…
This a great drama, at least until near the end, with amazing acting BUT if you want healing, you will not get it here.

The drama is dark, the female lead is an anti-hero who directly or indirectly causes the deaths and unhappiness of a lot of people.

The ending is open and pretty crappy in my opinion but if you watch it knowing that and do not get yourself too attached to any characters, I mean for real, don´t get attached to anyone because the only person who is "safe" in this sort of plot is the female lead, then it is still worth watching for the amazing acting and for how different it is from your regular kdrama.

yes, it's actually rom-com that start off dark but has a happy ending
What? Why are you lying and creating false expectations for people who have not watched it yet?

This is no rom-com and there is no "real" romance much less what could be considered a happy ending. It is a dark drama with amazing acting, an anti-hero female lead and a disappointing ending.

I made a correction. The intro flashes so many scenes that some created a scenario in my mind that never happens. I was pretty sure she would be in a mental institution at some point.

Unless they are planning on a second season, that was a pretty crappy ending for what was otherwise one of the best kdramas I have watched in a while. Even if there is a second season, I still found that ending trash if I'm being honest. There were loose ends, people that were not held accountable. I never read the webtoon this is based on but from what I read about it the ending of the webtoom seems to be more logical than the one we got from the drama.

I gave it a hight rating since it was a solid drama for like the first 8 episodes or so and the acting was amazing. It seems like no matter if the kdrama is 16 or 12 episodes long, the writers still find ways to mess up the last 4 episodes as usual.

Knowing it gets better in the second half is what's keeping me going. On Ep 13 at the moment and everything has…
I don´t remember exactly when but about 10 episodes before the last episode? He actually gets his memories back at some point but we as viewers only find out when the 2 guys that worked for him finally come across him. This is something I though would happen around episode 10 or so but they dragged the amnesia plot for the longest time. ^^'

Episode 7 was a turning point. So far she had only been hurting people who either did something to her or kinda had it coming(her boss was an exception, justified by the dire situation she was in). There was some collateral damage too (like the male lead and the friend) but it was not like she was intentionally doing anything to hurt them. But in episode 7 we start to see completely innocent people be the target of her sociopathic behaviour and suffering real consequences.

Not that her behavior before this was justifiable but I could feel empathy for her. Now I am only sitting and waiting to see how far she will go to keep her "happiness" and then her downfall. I no longer feel any empathy for her.

Title Love and Crown Spoiler
I really hoped it would get better and at some point it did, the misunderstandings were cleared, they were happy,…
I knew there was a high chance the male lead would die, specially when Ren Jia Lun was the actor chosen to play him. But to kill EVERYONE but the brother, really?

What was the point of the main leads not working together to bring down Du Ting Xin? Have they not learned their lesson by now? Just communicate. Why were she and her friend going around doing their own thing like dumb teenagers? Had there been communication between the couples, which is what you would expect, and all those deaths could have been prevented.

This is why I have a problem with the writing. The writers just decided they wanted a tragic ending and for that they were willing to sacrifice the plot and make the characters have no common sense. If this was a bad drama from the start I would not be so mad, but I saw potential in it so for them to give us such bad last episodes and such a dumb tragic ending is really infuriating.

I really hoped it would get better and at some point it did, the misunderstandings were cleared, they were happy, then the last 10 episodes or so happened and this just became a huge circus. And they even ended it in a way as if they thought they had created the biggest masterpiece ever.

The acting was great but the writers really dropped the ball on this one. They had a good cast, a nice ost, what seemed like a pretty decent budget but the writing was disappointing. If they had not ruined it with last 10 episodes or so, I would have still given this a high rating. I would have considered everything else, including the dragged misunderstandings, as something needed for plot and character development.

If there is one lesson I take from this is that lack of communication can bring a nation down, literally. Sigh

Same. There is a good one here and there but a lot of them are too superficial now, specially short dramas.

A good plot is everything. The acting might be great, the actors might be easy on the eyes and the outfits and props might look expensive, but if the plot is not interesting, I will just have it playing on the background and depending on how busy I am, I might even drop it.

I started and completed for Huang RiYing. Its hard to come by costume leads from her. Costume and styling in this…
They failed at keeping us interested in the plot, I felt bored many times. They had a good cast and did not seem to have a low budget. But the plot itself was not that great. A lot of the times it felt like nothing was happening.

The cast and acting were at regular drama level but unfortunately the way the plot was told felt like there were many dead moments, I felt bored several times. The ending was also meh.

If they had worked on the storytelling and given us a better ending, this would have been one of the best short dramas out there.
