Lol It is not working. I have tried learning Chinese in the past and gave up once I realised it took longer to draw a chinese character than to write a full sentence. Speaking is also pretty hard since it is a tonal language.
There are 3 Chinese dramas right now that I want to watch but will not because of the usual mgtv horrible subs. Thankfully, one of them was picked by Viki.
I have subbed in the past and the things that are the most time consumming are transcription (putting what is said into text) and timing (making the text appear exactly when the character is speaking). If they are already going to the trouble of subbing, why not do it properly? To me it seems like they just don’t want to spend money hiring a human translator and are just fixated on using some cheap machine translation.
Their ad revenue on YouTube alone would be enough to pay a translator and there would still be a lot left. They also have the channel membership. It is shameful that they have people paying to join their membership when they don’t even put out quality subs. Sigh
I liked it but as expected from a drama that has time travel, there were a few plot holes?
Maybe I got lost in all the confusion but the third victim was someone who originally was supposed to be dead until the ML saved her in the first episode. How can someone who was supposed to be dead go missing later on? Did no one go missing to begin with until he changed things or was the 3rd victim someone else?
Also, the killer was someone I suspected pretty much since I first saw that person, but the motivations and the way the victims were chosen was not satisfying to me, especially when you consider the killer was supposed to be a smart and meticulous person.
The fl’s aunt was clearly someone who wanted nothing to do with books, just because she was carrying one does not mean it was hers or that she was going to read it. She did not fit the victims profile at all, she was the clear opposite of a woman who likes to read.
Another thing that bothered me is how a certain person was able to recognize who the killer was from a distance and in the dark while no one else was ever able to see his face.
Oh well, at the end of the day it was still a drama I enjoyed watching. Not the best time travel/crime drama I have watched but certainly not the worst either.
Sooo messy. Almost like an amature was given the job of adapting a novel into a drama. The ending made me feel like I was scammed. Instead of money, what was stolen was my time and brain cells.
This was bad...the plot, the way the characters were written, the editing, ... I think the male lead was not the only one with bipolar disorder, this writer was definitely going back and forth when it came to where the story was supposed to go and how the characters were supposed to behave.
This was at the level of a low budget short drama but with the timewatch of a regular drama. It was a pain to finish it. I don’t recommend it at all. It is not worth your time.
Also, if you have been in a toxic relationship before, this drama might trigger bad memories.

If anything I would have liked to know the reason why the male lead was abandoned. Maybe including this would make the drama more cliché and dramatic but it would be nice for him to find out that his mother had no way to take care of him, like maybe she also had heart problems and could not get surgery. I feel like this would be important for him.
At the same time, it was nice to see him grow and learn to trust the female lead even without having all the answers.

Definitely recommend it if you are looking for something sweet that does not make your blood boil, aside from when characters like Cheng Qi Rang and Ding Yi Feng are on screen.

What you can do is go to the tags and click the "smart female lead" tag. Then on the right side you can use the Advanced Search and be more specific, like picking only dramas, setting the country as China, adding more tags or genres, picking the rating, I recommend 7 or 7.5 and up for the best dramas, ...
Great cast, great acting and chemistry between the main leads. But so many misunderstandings, so much suffering and an ending that in my opinion only made it worse.
The female lead’s character was also made to be quite inconsistent at times, causing most of the problems but I won’t even go there to make this shorter.
Overall a drama that I loved and loved to hate. Not sure I would re-watch it, maybe just a compilation of the best moments. Too painful to watch a second time.
