There are so many dramas with ratings of 9 and over that are nowhere as good as this one.It really depends on…
hahah I know what you mean. I actually watched this right after watching All of Us Are Dead.
AUAD was more about the survival, while this one was more about how people, even "good" people, act when in a crisis and about finding the cure. Like you said, it was more on the slice-of-life side.
I personally liked both. They were different in what they were trying to achieve but both were enjoyable to me.
Since we are on the topic of zombies, have you watched Kingdom? I am considering watching it next.
I watched the 2 trailers on viki and it seemed like they were the trailers of 2 completely different dramas. ^^'
One was confusing and awkward and trying to be all mysterious and stuff but kind of failing at its job. The other made this seem like your average romance c-drama, full of clichés and fluff.
Neither of the 2 trailers convinced me. If the trailers they made are unable to get my interest, will they be able to keep me invested in the actual thing? That is the question in my head right now.
If you have already finished watching it, let me know your thoughts. I dont mind spoilers.
Cute drama but I wish it had more romance. There were not enough scenes of the main leads dating and we only got one kiss that was not even that satisfying.
I would recommend it more for the educational part of it. It brings awareness to a lot of important things that we, as people who are able to see, should be aware of so we can make the life of blind people a little easier, or at least not make it, unintentionally, more difficult.
I am not saying that it is not worth watching for the romance. The main leads were cute. I just wanted to watch more of them.
Hey everyone beware specially those who are giving negative opinion.. some crazy hyo joo fans are taking screenshots…
Really? I personally found the drama pretty interesting, although it had its flaws and might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But it was not just because of the cast.
I hate when people do stuff like that. I even tend to stay away from dramas that star idols because I know the rating is probably not accurate. Fans will rate dramas that star their idols 10 even before they watch it. ^^'
There are so many dramas with ratings of 9 and over that are nowhere as good as this one.
It really depends on what you were expecting. This is NOT a zombie drama. There isnt much horror or gore. This is more on the drama side. But that does not mean it is bad. I enjoyed it for what is was since I watched it with no expectations.
Sure, it had it’s flaws, but when considering other dramas’ ratings and how this is the average rating from almost 33 000 watchers, it seems like a fair rating. It is not one of those dramas that only a few people rated and that it has a rating of 9 because a crazy fan that did not even watch it gave it a 10. ^^'
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preferences, expectations and your mood.
What would you personally recommend with a similar plot, survival, zombie, virus, anything along those lines?
It is not as bad as most people make it seem. Just not really binge-watchable since there are many slow parts. My main issue was with the writing.
There were too many unnecessary deaths and things that I expected to happen, like the bully vs. bullied fight and that never did. As a zombie drama, it has A LOT of faults. You would think the kids would focus on things like getting weapons to defend themselves, getting water and food, ... But the closest to that that we got was them making an improvised toilet. Really? Cause peeing and pooping definitely comes first. Not like water, food and sleep are more important to their survival. Smh
One thing I do not agree with is all the hate the FL is getting. I mean, she was pretty useless and not the brightest of the bunch but from what I remember, at least, she did not cause anyone’s death. The same cannot be said about many other characters.
I think the writers just messed up. If they were going to make the FL useless and do what they did with the ML, they might as well have made Soo Hyeok and Nam Ra the main leads. It would have made the whole thing more interesting.
So, my overall opinion is that it was entertaining, but it was nowhere as good as it could have been. I have not watched anything zombie for quite a while, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Was it just me or did someone else see her hesitate a little bit when saying bye to Meng? Did she stop waiting…
Although she did not love him in a romantic way, it is not like he did not mean anything to her. She looked up to him for a long time, learned a lot with him, was saved by him many times, so she hesitated because she knew she probably would never see him again.
Probably a feeling similar to when a close family member or friend moves to a far away country and you say goodbye to each other knowing you might never see each other again or at least will have to spend many years apart until you see each other again.
Great start and overall good pace. But it did go down a little near the end. I was expecting more from the last episodes and from the ending scene. It was meaningful but it did not make me smile or feel like it was the best ending possible.
But since this was still one of the best Chinese Republican Era dramas that I have watched, I rated it 8.5/10. It could have been a 9 but some things were missing.
P.S. - I don't give 10s so my 9 would have been as good as a 10. ^^'
Watching the preview of next week’s episodes made my blood boil. The writer wants to drag this for so long that every time they fix one problem, they create another one. This is so cliché that I actually predicted a few months ago that Sa Ra would do this to try to tie him down.
With only 10 episodes left, is the writer going to make her suddenly regret all she has done and say sorry in the last episode? Cha Gun deserves better, Se Jong deserves better, and even that unborn baby deserves better. There is no redemption for her anymore, at least for me.
If the husband was actually cheating on her this would have a rating above 8, but because it turned out it was…
Yes, she was frustrating. I would have tried to calmly talk to him and figure out if it was true or not. If it wasn't I would apologize for not trusting him and explain why I thought he was cheating so we could improve our communication. If he was indeed cheating, I think I would slap him once just because I would feel entitled to that at least (lol) and then tell him I would send him the divorce papers and get out of there.
But the truth is we never know how we would react until it happens to us.
I kind of understand her fear. For her, not questioning him about it was a way of pretending nothing was happening and keep him from leaving. The moment she confronted him, if it was indeed true that he was cheating, their relationship would be over and she would not be able to pretend everything is fine anymore.
Although both of them have many faults, that is how humans are. I prefer this and them not actually cheating on each other than when writers create cool characters that have it all figured out but don't even bother breaking up with a partner before moving to the next one.
Why does it have such a low rating compared to other jdramas with a similar plot? I will explain why in the spoiler…
If the husband was actually cheating on her this would have a rating above 8, but because it turned out it was all the result of someone’s plan and he did not actually cheat, then it gets a rating below 7.
I am not saying this is a great drama, by all means, it’s not. But it is not worse than a lot of other jdramas out there where the husband is actually being unfaithful. It is like people these days prefer to watch marriages getting destroyed instead of seeing couples learn to communicate and "fix" their marriage.
The whole Shi sisters and Mu Qian Chu thing was too frustrating and overwhelming and took so long to solve that I was unable to focus on the rest of the plot or even on the main leads.
It felt like trying to have dessert while having a fish bone stuck in my throat. I was not able to enjoy dessert because the fish bone was just bothering me so much.
Shi Di was shameless and Shi Xiao Nian spineless. Both were unbearable to watch. And they were only 2 of the many characters that I disliked.
I definitely don’t recommend this one. There is nothing memorable about it. I would even dare say this is a BELOW average c-drama.
You'd have to give it a try, episode 2 was better than episode 1, but you'll have to see if it's your thing or…
I will. I just wanted to know what other people thought.
When I like a drama I tend to watch it every week but if I dont think its my cup of tea then I wait for it to finish airing and binge-watch it so I can skip all scenes that I find boring.

I am sure you can find something better than this.

Timing the subs is the most time-consuming part. Is it that hard to find a human being to do the translation? Sigh

I will probably start this one on Monday.
