hahaha true. I keep watching them like there is no way I will be disappointed and I keep getting slapped on the face. But its a love-hate relationship because some Chinese historical dramas are my favorite dramas of all time even if I started with Korean dramas.

Right now I wouldn't even be able to tell you if I prefer K-dramas or C-dramas. Not many good K-dramas have been coming out...well, except Vincenzo, which is my favorite K-drama of the year. I know its a little early to call it, but I doubt another drama will be able to make me laugh, cry, smile and get angry all in one episode. XD

No problem. They did announce in the last episode that a 2nd season is coming, but I have no idea when so you might as well wait. I would have waited too if I knew.

Just coming back here to tell you its 12 episodes and they are all now subbed on YouTube. There is going to be a 2nd season tho as many questions were left unanswered so it might be a good idea to wait and watch the whole thing together.

Yeah, if it wasnt for those last episodes I would have given it a higher rating. I would still re-watch it, its a good drama.

There was no misleading. Ye Miao legit appears in the first scene of the first episode talking in retrospective. Also, it is revealed pretty early on that the boy she met in the past was him and not his brother. And usually the ML is the first man to appear in the cast list. Ye Miao is in front of Ye Lin.

When in doubt check the cast so you will know who is the ML and will not feel disappointed next time.

I dont know why people were so surprised by the turn of events. From the first scene I could tell this would be a more dramatic kind of drama and I felt the fluffy scenes were just added to lighten the mood a little bit. The last few episodes went full on drama and I think that was why people were so angry.

With that said, I was not surprised by all the melodrama, I just thought it was too much and the story would have been much better had it went in a different direction.

Yeah, they spent the last few episodes on the female antagonist’s scheme, the break up and flashbacks. Could have used that time to wrap things up neatly instead off adding unnecessary extra drama.

This should have been 24 episodes long. A lot of eps 25-30 were frustrating sub-plots and flashbacks which lowered the enjoyment of the drama for me. I still gave it an 8 since it was an enjoyable drama and I would watch it again, but had it been 24 episodes long instead of 30 and it might have been even better.

I dont think it it was hallucination at the end. I would believe so if it was just her and him, but the monk was there and explained everything in a logical way so I think the whole thing was real. I agree that with all that happened, this is a pretty good drama and I really liked both the main leads. Some characters did disappoint me and I did felt bored at times but it was still a good saeguk with excellent acting.

Where did I watch which drama? Ku Kaen?

Yeah, there aren't that many lakorns with nice male leads. I have watched a few but a long time ago. I will throw a few here but there might be some I remember wrongly and the ML was not that nice, so sorry if it happens.

- Jao Sao Jum Yorm
- Kao Waan Hai Noo Pen Sai Lub
- Look Tard (I mean, he is a slave so he is kind of forced to being nice, but he is especially nice to the FL)
- Marn Bang Jai
- Mee Piang Rak
- Padiwaradda (I think... it has been a long time since I watched this one)
- Piang Chai Khon Nee Mai Chai Poo Wised
- Poo Bao Indy Yayee Inter
- Rang Mai Hua Jai Derm
- Sapai Import (despite their bickering, I remember him being relatively nice)
- Tawipob (older drama, cant remember for sure, but I think the ML was nice)
- Waen Dok Mai (he is her best friend before they start dating, that says it all)

And finally,
- Suparburoot Jorm Jon: Maturot Lohgan (same main leads as this one, he was as nice as possible considering their situation and the way he was raised)

I hope you find these recommendations helpful. I basically just went through the Thai dramas in my completed list that had a rating of 7 or higher and that I think had a nice male lead. Some of these I watched 3-4 years ago and cant remember well so there might be a jerk male lead somewhere on the list. XD

This is soooo bad. I cannot understand how someone would give it anything over 5, which by MDL’s definition means its okay...this is definitely not an okay drama.

The plot is bad, Idk if its the acting or the way the characters were written but they are also bad, the FL is depressing to look at, even when she was not supposed to be unhappy, but most of all the dubbing was one of the worst I have seen. Like, you have a character knocking on a door and there is no sound, but then you have overly dramatic noises when there should be no noise at all.

I was going to give this a chance since I have no new dramas to watch, but this is so bad that I could barely go through 2 episodes. I don't recommend this one to my worst enemy. Its THAT bad.

I dont even know if its available with eng subs. It is the version that aired in China but most places online aired the 40 eps version.

I think the main problem is that this is supposed to be 46 episodes long, which is the tv version. But most of us watched the DVD version, which is only 40 episodes long. Those 6 episodes worth of plot were left off from the version we watched and that definitely made a difference. Maybe the things I felt were missing for the ending to not feel so anti-climatic were on the tv version and were removed from the 40 episode version. :(

Just to adress something quick. I did not say it was an open-ending, I said it felt like there should be more episodes and the drama was suddenly cut short wich made the ending anti-climatic. You yourseld said that it should have 5-10 more episodes, which means you too felt there should be something more after episode 40.

And btw, Im not complaining too much about this particular drama. I always leave my honest opinion on most dramas I watch, something a lot of people appreciate because it helps them decide if the drama is worth their time.

In this particular one I only complained because there was nothing I could think of that made it stand out from all the other dramas I have watched. If there was one thing I liked a lot in the middle of the things I didnt like, I would have mentioned it. But it didnt happen.

I am not saying its a bad drama and no one should watch it. But its definitely a drama I would not recommend to someone who is looking for a smart plot, well-developed characters and a satisfying ending.

1. I didnt say you said the drama was bad, I said the way you justified its faults was almost as if you were saying its ok to be bad.

2. Since when cant we have 2 intelligent women in the same drama?? That makes no sense. The intelligence of a person is not their only personality trait, 2 people can be equally intelligent and have completely different personalities.

3. As far as I remember she was powerful for pretty much the entire time the FL was in the palace...I mean she even locked the female lead in prison for several days because she was able to easily bribe a prison guard.

4. Its not a maybe. I have watched hundreds of chinese dramas since 2010 and I am not saying it has never happened, but it definitely does not happen as often as an open-ending or a tragic ending for example.

I appreciated the discussion we had about these points but lets end it here because I keep explaining the same things over and over again and I am getting tired of coming back to this page to comment on a drama I watched 2 months ago and that I did not even like that much.

Yeah, that is how I know its not the same drama. I watched a few seconds of the first episode on mgtv and it did not match the drama on iqiyi. Oh well, I guess I will have to skip on this one until it gets subbed...if it gets subbed.
