I wanted to fully enjoy it for what is was but there were several problematic things about this drama.
And no, I am not talking about the blackface thing since lets be honest, if a socialite girl is trying to pass as a maid, she definitely has to have a darker skin tone. Thailand is a very hot country and the common population has a more tanned skin tone, not white like we usually see in lakorns. Only the rich and famous have a whiter skin tone since they actually do procedures and use stuff to achieve that look. Poor people would not have money for that. Or if they are half Thai and lived most of their life outside Thailand, then they could also have a lighter skin tone.
The other issues I found were things like a doctor having a "relationship" with a patient, the FL’s father attempts at cheating being portrayed as funny...cheating is anything but funny, the addition of characters like Max and the other guy I forgot the name to add a little of drama that was predictable and unnecessary and painted a really bad picture (cant explain better without spoilers), the over the top drama at the end with ML’s mother (again, cant explain without spoilers), and so many other little things that I just could not ignore.
So yeah, the idea was interesting, although nothing new, but unfortunately I ended up watching on fast-forward because there were several things bothering me. For me, it was a good drama, but it could have been much better.
I am actually very glad that they didn't adapted that trope.I applaud the writers for this new change in the kdramaland…
I completely agree. Maybe I did not express myself the right away. Read my reply to Paperdoll so you will know what I meant when I commented about the romance.

I definitely liked their relationship and I find fast-paced romances with a lot of skinship kind of superficial. I just wish there was more of them as a couple.
He only started liking her halfway through and I am not quite sure about her. She seemed to be into him but I dont know if it was the way the character was written or the acting, I felt like she did not like him as much as he liked her. But again, Hani had a lot on her plate so romance was the least of her worries.
Also, they are in their 30s so only giving the viewers a little peck on the last episode was kind of mean. lol
But anyway, I liked the drama for what is was. If it had focused on the romance it could have ruined the plot, but they could have found a nice balance and maybe added some more romantic scenes in between. This is just my opinion. The main leads had such a nice relationship that I think it is a shame that there was not more of them.
Even the most draggy dramas i dont regret watching, but this one i do definitely regret watching and wish i could…
Thank you for sharing your opinion but I decided to drop it 3 months ago. I was not one of those people that was waiting for her to get with her ex or anything. In fact, if she had gotten involved with him while still married to her husband I would have been very angry. The thing is I felt nothing seeing her with either of them and the plot itself was unable to grab my attention.
Even if the character of the FL is awesome, it is not enough to make me keep watching.
Although the premise is far from realistic, this drama has some very real lessons for you to learn.
The romance tag is kind of misleading as it is not the main focus. There is romance but it is slight romance and the kind you see more through actions and through the ML words because Hani already has a lot on her plate. I originally decided to watch this because of the romance so I was a little disappointed that it was not as present as I expected.
So overall I think this is a good drama. Not amazing but good.
It says 4 min 39 episodes ...so how many episodes have been released till date in those 4 episodes
Yeah, I am wondering the same thing since on YouTube the first episode is 18 minutes long and on Youku its only 2 mins. I could do some math but I am lazy. XD
Thank goodness for the P.S. part because my mind was going "HUH??" ... lol
Exactly. The wife of the older son that died seemed to have more wisdom than the old lady. She was able to tell what kind of person Shiyi was from the beginning. Even the Princess who at first looked down on her changed her mind about her but the old lady realized way too late what kind of person Shiyi was. She had to almost die. By then any "sorry, I was wrong about you" would not cut it.
But like I said, without the old lady there would be no story. She was the cause of most of the trouble, especially because of her habit of getting concubines for her son left and right. Even the last concubine became the way she was because of the old lady’s actions. Madam Xu and the late wife of the ML were 2 pieces of work.

hahaha, yeah, it was kind of a rant cause that woman was DUMB. She always took the side of the women that were scheming against the family and always punished the only one that was kind and a blessing to the family in every way.
The FL was legit the one that fixed the relationship between the ML and his sons, she prevented the death of the heir, she was smart and protected the family from disaster several times, she was the ONLY woman her son ever loved and that made him smile, .... but she had to actually sacrifice herself for the family almost getting executed for the old lady to finally realize...oh she is not THAT bad. Sigh
This is one of those dramas that you hate to love. There are so many frustrating things about it but at the same time it is so well-written, realistic and has such excellent acting that you just keep watching.
We have to thank Madam Xu for driving the plot. If it was not for her wise decisions there would be no story. She had great observation skills and was always able to tell apart the people with good intentions from the ones with evil intentions. Her son’s feelings and opinions were also taken into consideration ALL THE TIME.
P.S. - In case you havent watched this drama yet...the second paragraph was full of irony XD
I have watched other dramas with a similar premise and with the going back and forth between the past and the present. The problem with this one was that there was not much to the plot to begin with and the showing the present right from the first episode was not done right and only made the story feel confusing and boring. If they had nothing relevant to show of the year 2015, then they should have started doing it only near the end or even dedicate the last few episodes just to that year.
The way they did it made it feel like they were just showing the characters as adults interacting in random situations that did nothing for the story.
I'm on eps 17 and it just slowly gets worse. The ambiguity with the present day 2015 is so bad. I don't know why…
Yup. I think that is the main flaw of this drama. The writers had no idea how to add the 2015 scenes in a way that made sense and that was not completely pointless and boring.
I know I recently watched a drama that did this same thing of going back and forth in the same episode but that one was actually good. Unfortunately, I cant remember the name.
Yup. The handsome cowboy is a thai drama that unfortunately I will never forget. When I started watching it I…
I do not remember since I watched it such a long time ago, but if it followed the anime then yeah, he was very loyal. Itazura na Kiss was one of my favorite animes back when I was a teenager. I watched it a bunch of times. XD

Playful Kiss was a drama I watched on fast-forward since I had watched the anime countless times and already knew the story so I did not get that feeling, but for sure in the anime I dont think any girl ever stood a chance. She was literally the only one he even saw as a possible partner, everyone else was either a schoolmate or a co-worker. But like I said, maybe the drama version did not do so well in that aspect because the story was told using real people.
I did not watch My Sassy Husband so I cant say anything about that one. But I for sure try to stay away from any drama that has the infidelity tag. Yikes
You mean Miss S? I just had to change the vpn to Australia and then create an account on SBS and login to watch. I used the desktop version. There were A LOT of ads but I was able to watch the whole drama.
