Title Cloudy Days
Hehe just came from your comment on Pieng Jai Tee Pook Pun. Will give this a try!
Yeah, I got the notification from that reply too. XD
I watched this one as it was airing so I am not sure you will enjoy it as much if you binge-watch it. But yeah, give it a try. Like I said, the way the plot is written makes you keep guessing but there is a lot of frustrating things like the way the female lead is treated, so you will have to get over that to enjoy the plot as it is.

Like I said, I would not re-watch it so it means this is not an amazing drama, but it is definitely better than the average thai drama in terms of script writing. So give it a try and let me know what you think once you finish it.

For me it was nice to see a more "adult" love. So many are kid romances lol I feel like the 2nd couple is less…
The thing is the drama was too short to develop an adult love. You need time to get to know someone for you to love that person. If you meet someone and sleep with that person right away, that is not love, its lust.

The plot is too rushed for me to believe any of these characters loved each other and they were not just "friends with benefits".

I am actually surprised this has such a high rating. I have watched all kinds of dramas for the past 11 years and this one definitely did not do well in delivering whatever it had intended. First of all, it has the genres of comedy, romance and drama. Except there is none to very little comedy, there is definitely some drama and there is romance BUT this is very business focused although it is not one of the genres here and the business part was extremely boring. I have watched many business focused dramas and this one definitely did not make the business part interesting.

The romance was nice and all but it was slow-paced which would be expected since she was dating someone else at the start and needed time to get over him, but still it was meh, I dont know how to explain, I felt nothing. I did not smile at their romantic scenes like I usually do in all other dramas that have romance.

The cast was great but the way the story was told was boring and the characters were not relatable to me.

Someone else started a review by saying "Only enjoyable if you feel a connect with any of the characters" and I definitely agree with that. I did not connect to any of the characters and that was probably why I was bored most of the time and kept skipping scenes. Maybe you will connect to someone and enjoy this drama, but I certainly didnt.

BTW this season filled with fantastic ongoing J dramas (read great writing, acting, direction). You should totally…
I liked the Korean version but did not love it. Also found it to be a bit too dramatic. I am hoping the Japanese version will make up for what the original was lacking or had too much of.

I have most of these in my plan to watch list. But I will check the other ones out.

Shitteru Waifu is a remake of a Korean drama I already watched so I know the plot should be good and Horimiya I am thinking of watching the anime first and then the drama, just waiting for all the episodes of the anime to be out.

Some great recommendations you have right there. ^ ^

TRUST ME - it is as bad as other people are saying. There is no plot or character development whatsoever, the pace is completely off, it just feels like the start of a really bad porn.

More and more often I am seeing this with jdramas. There is no clear distinction between dramas and soft-porn. You think you are sitting down to watch a romance drama and then suddenly you are watching porn. Imagine if you sit down to watch this with someone else, how awkward it would be.

Anyway, unless you are looking for something steamy with no plot, you better not waste your time with this one. Even the steamy scenes are nothing special so there is really nothing about this that is worth watching.

Your review is so reasonable, I feel like you really gave an unbiased but informed opinion. It's hard for me to…
I can definitely understand your feelings. I was able to keep my cool just because I read some spoilers before I actually got to the episode the male lead turned into a moron. So I was prepared for what was coming and completely gave up any expectations I had so I did not feel as angry as if I was caught by surprise.

I agree with what you said about them turning into a worse version of what they wanted to do a parody of. It kind of reminds me of this movie that has caused a lot of controversy and that I will never watch for the sake of my sanity - Cuties. They supposedly wanted to criticize child sexualization but did that by sexualizing children for the entire movie. That is like saying that animal cruelty is wrong and to prove their point they beat up a dog and then say: see, the dog is hurt, the dog is crying, the dog has feelings, dont hit dogs. Like seriously??

So I can definitely understand how frustrated and angry you feel. This could have actually been a good drama if they went with the premise from the first episode of them having a hobby in common and him finding her interesting without even knowing who she is and looking for her when it turns out she was by his side the entire time. But no, they wanted to do a parody that NO ONE, NO ONE, aside from them, found funny. Sigh

That route would have been easier but sadly, this series is based on a very popular Gugoryeo folktale so it’s…
Yeah. The production of this drama was put in a really bad spot. They could not really just get rid of this character, I mean, its not just random character they added in the middle of the story - its the male lead. And he plays a huge part in the plot. So changing the actor was really the best option.

But now they have to film over half of the drama again, pay more to the actors for their time, probably delay the airing date of some episodes and people will probably still complain about the change in actors if they are not aware of what is going on. Any other drama would be ruined after this. Lets hope they keep the story interesting enough and the new actor does well so this gets good ratings.
On River Where the Moon Rises Mar 6, 2021
I have a hard time seeing someone else playing the same character cause I associate the character with a face, so I think I would prefer if they just added a completely new character. But at the same time On Dal plays an important role in the plot, so I can imagine how difficult it was for the production to make these changes. Either way the drama would suffer from this decision.

Anyway, I will keep watching cause I like the story and to show my support to the other actors that were caught in this mess.

There is an actual drama version with 2 seasons but with a different cast. I watched it many years ago so I cant…
I almost feel like I wrote that comment myself. LOL
I am Portuguese and a lot of Brazilian soap operas will air here. And its the same thing. Main leads will always either have someone else before they are with each other or they break up, go date other people even tho they love each other and then get back together at the end. Meanwhile they will be kissing and doing much worse with these said other people. I also despise cheating. I turned to Asian dramas exactly because these type of content were not doing it for me anymore.

Unfortunately, even with Asian dramas you will find this kind of trash content, mainly with jdramas that even have a lot of cheating main leads that are married and thai dramas too, although less often. There are cases of kdramas and cdramas having main leads cheats too but it is less common and I stay away from these.

I also had a lot of fun chatting with you. It seems we have a lot in common when it comes to our drama watching preferences. ^ ^

I still think it would have been more interesting if she had actually become her stepmother and lived with them…
Exactly. Some things seem to have been added just to make this more dramatic but had no reason behind it. I still think this was a great drama but it could have definitely been better if the writers had given us a convincing reason as to why she hated the FL so much.

I graduated from a cooking school but decided that I did not want to work as a Chef because I like to cook with more care and attention to details and in a restaurant/hotel kitchen you kind of have to mass produce and just put the food on the plate and deliver because you have to serve a lot of people.

In the places I worked we had up to 800 people all coming to eat around the same time, it was not easy. Also, the working schedule is awful. You never get weekends off, sometimes you go weeks without having days off and most of the time you work the entire morning, have a 4 hour break and then come back to work until midnight. So you dont have a life, you cant go anywhere and you become sleep deprived. It is not an easy life.

So I prefer to cook as a hobby and for family and friends instead. I also have more freedom to come up with new recipes and can work in a stress-free environment.

And yes, I agree, Pasta had some really good cooking scenes. A lot of dramas that have cooking dont focus on the cooking but more on the romance, comedy or other more popular genres. Pasta actually spent a good time developing the cooking part and even the romance was deeply dependent on it.

I think Secret Garden was one of the first dramas I watched too. The first drama I remember watching was the kdrama Pasta since I had just started cooking school and was surrounding myself with dramas and tv shows related to food.

Yeah. I have been watching dramas since 2010 and have literally watched hundreds of dramas so I end up only remembering the ones that I liked a lot, even if I watched it 10 years ago. Some dramas are just THAT memorable. While others I watched 1 year ago and cannot remember what the drama was about. LOL

I wanted to fully like this drama but I cannot ignore MAJOR flaws.

- For one, the way the story is told feels very disconnected at times with a bunch of sub-plots that the drama could have done without.

- Second, a lot of characters, but especially the female lead who the writers tried to sell as a really bright person, keep doing extremely dumb things. Without spoiling much imagine someone commits murder and covers it up very well to the point no one even knows this murder happened...but then this person comes to the street and just starts yelling "I killed someone, I killed someone. I killed X and buried her body at Y. But you will never be able to find out because I covered it up REALLY well." Like seriously?? This kind of stupid stuff happens several times throughout the drama but mainly in the first 20 episodes or so which caused a lot of people to actually drop it halfway.

- Third, really average people that should have little power in the Palace, yeah, I am looking at you Zhuo Jin Niang, somehow can control anyone and do whatever without consequences in this drama. Like, she is responsible for the making of clothes, she aint the Prime Minister or someone only second to the Emperor. Come on, it makes no sense.

- And finally, the ending. What was that?? It felt like this was supposed to end somewhere around ep 36-38 but someone invested in the drama and said "go ahead, keep the story going for another 20 episodes"....and after a few more episodes the investor is like "well, I changed my mind" and just leaves with the production being forced to end the drama there.

P.S. - I know most of us watched the 40 ep version which was cut shorter, but even if you have to cut a drama short you need to keep the story consistent and wrap up the drama nicely. If you have watched the last episode you cannot tell me you did not think that was a really chopped up episode.

Instead of the typical romance you see in Chinese historical dramas, this one is more realistic when it comes…
I was talking about the mothers tho. Plus, emperors having many wives should serve as an example of why you should NOT have more than one wife. These wives and their offspring would keep "mysteriously" dying. That should tell them how problematic having so many power-hungry women in one place is.

Polygamy slowly stopped being the rule and became the exception for a reason. We learn from our mistakes, or at least we should.

Yeah, but these mothers forget one essential thing. When a man has sons to different wives rarely the family will have any peace because the mothers will throw them against each other in the pursuit of a better status and the husband’s favor. Some even kill their own brothers later on.

I think the best method would be to marry their sons to a really healthy woman and have a lot of kids with this one woman. The mother would not throw her own kids against each other and the husband would not be left with a huge headache having to deal with so many women in one household.

Yeah. To me it seems like he just wants to lead a peaceful life and his wives are too much trouble. At the same time he is kind of a momma’s boy and even if he does not want to, he will do what she says just to please her. So far there was only 1 moment where he went against his family for the female lead but what they did was so ridiculous anyway that anyone else in his place that has even a bit of backbone would do the same.

Well, I will keep watching since I want to see how the female lead grows. Until now she has pretty much just been smiling while not doing much. lol
