yes i totally get what you mean. it feels like just another cash grab and honestly it's just feeding into the who fetishization thing all over again. thai bl's were definitely getting better but then this comes out and it's like they've just ignored everything they just did. it makes it worse that the series is getting a lot more recognition purely because zee is acting in it.
I was like noooo on the kissing while drunk. But a shocking number of people didn't get why that was not okay.…
definitely agreed. i was so surprised when so many people just ignored it. yeah i get what you mean. i definitely expected this to be toxic because if there's anything I've learnt from watching k-drama's, it's that mostly any CEO is gonna be toxic. my expectation weren't too high to begin with so i can't say I'm disappointed with this but i did kinda hope they would handle it better but that hope was killed in episode one :)
I finally watched this and all i can say is it's intriguing. idk how i feel about the whole kissing while drunk tho. that was icky and honestly, it's 2022 not 2015, it's not okay to just kiss someone who's drunk because they can't consent to it. hia lian doesn't surprise me. i honestly thought he'd be a toxic character seeing as it's the first time any bl has really ever had this trope. i expected it to be, well, toxic lol. but ig i'll keep watching because it's the first i've seen of an arranged marriage, toxic CEO trope and i wanna see how this ends lmao.
I was super excited - I love Green's acting and I love... looking at Chap, but this is dull. It's not the budget…
Definitely agree, the acting wasn’t the problem I’ve seen them act before and I can tell that they’re good, it’s just the directing. The sound effects are tacky, the shots are dull and unflattering, and the plot just seems convoluted. I really hope they pick it up because they’re not using their actors to their full potential.
THE WAY I CRIED WHEN I SAW THE LESBIANS WERE FRONT AND CENTER!! OMG IM SO EXCITED LIKE WORDS DO NOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I NEED THIS, I CANT EVEN BREATHE RN LMAO-
god i don't think words describe how much i love this series. idk it just makes me feel seen in a way. that one scene where they jump around and hold hands under the lgbt+ flag made me feel so warm. this whole series felt so close to home and i have a huge emotional attachment to it now lmao. i'm gonna be sad when it ends :')
damn i was kinda excited for this but idk anymore. the acting is okay but the plot is just...missing something. like the plot is great, the whole enemies to lovers, rich dude, tailor man thing sounded great, but they're just not executing it well enough. i don't know whether it's poor directing or small budget but something's gonna have to change :/
Some people here haven't done their homework. As someone who was bullied in primary school I cant seem to grasp the logic people are trying to justify this with.
I'm reading this apology letter for the first time and I don't know who Kim Dong Hee is. Coming at this from a mostly unbiased view, the apology reads as pretty crappy. I'm sorry but he specifically picked a fight that we have no way of knowing is even related to this, and seems small to "apologise for". They're obviously trying to paint him as some good guy who even after being proven "innocent" as decided to apologise from the "good of his heart". And who knows maybe he is, but he hasn't addressed anything else. there were two people who came out against him who said that they were bullied. he didn't say anything about they bullying accusations nor did he address the other person.
And I don't know how people are justifying this with "he was young" and "why did the victim only speak up now". As someone majoring in psychology and a former victim of bullying, one google search tells it all. So what if he was young. He still did it. Yes people grow and change but that doesn't hide the fact that this is still super serious. Young kids are impressionable. Their environment shapes the way they learn and interact with others. Say you're a stressed out 8 year old. To try and calm down, you suck your thumb once. you like it. you do it again. and before you know it, you do whenever your stressed. It's a habit, that if you don't break, leads into adulthood. Bullying is just like that. you get called a loser one day. then another. then another. before you know it, that's the way you perceive yourself. It's like the Pavlov dog experiment. Bullying has detrimental affects that can lead all the way into adulthood. it's the reason why so many people don't speak up. it's conditioning someone to think and feel a way about themselves. And it's especially scarring when children are bullied. And here's some articles that have all the science and facts.
Kim Dong-hee is/was one of my favorite actors but he hasn't been posting or been doing anything for over a year…
Sometimes it can be traumatic. I know that I was severely bullied when I was in primary school and to this day it affects the way I treat others. I grew up with major trust issues and I was super self conscious all the time. Young kids are the most impressionable age group and their environment shapes they way interact and learn for life. And Kin Don-Hee hasn't addressed all the rumors. there was two people who came out against him and they both said it happened repeatedly. for all we know he could be talking about a completely different fight.
Damn, Korean cancel culture is insane, compared to the Western. You have Western celebrities doing drugs, being…
I think it's also just a culture thing. the western industry is so diverse and has been around for super long. it's made up of many different nationalities with different views and beliefs. However the Korean industry is super different. it's made up of only Korean's. And tbh this is a huge problem. it's not really a secret that South Korea thinks itself to be of a "superior race". weird I know but having lived there, the racism is unreal. Naturally they hold their celebrities to a higher standard believing that they can do no wrong, and its actually really scary.
I'm actually pretty confused. The show started off strong but for some reason, now that the main couple has been established, it's now focusing more on Yi Bin. Most of the parts we get with the main couple somehow include Yi Bin crashing into them and it's so weird that now most of the show is from his perspective. idk it just seemed like a weird directive choice.
I honestly think that even with the 10 min episode length shows like tms, ymmd and wyel were able to leave me…
I totally agree! I think the problem with a lot of the new ones is that they're trying to tackle complex plots that even full length K-drama's can't do well. time travel plots like this one aren't ideal for 8 episodes with only 15 minute run times. they need more time to develop but they don't have it. ones like tms and wyel were so amazing because they were simple plots which relied on good acting. I'm super happy that Korean BL's are slowly progressing and i hope they can pick back up again!
For the most part I've liked the short Korean BLs that have come out in the last couple of years. Usually they've…
totally agree! i think the problem is that they set the bar so high with wyel and tms that these newer ones just aren't cutting it. and with Koreans BL's such as light on me having a longer run time, people want more. it's obvious that the newer plots need more time to develop but Korea just isn't ready to keep up with the demand for more.
I'm actually liking this better than I expected to! My only problem is the pacing. it's a bit fast and choppy but I can't really hold it against them since they only have 8 episodes and 15 minutes, though they could pace it a bit better. other than that, it's a cute simple plot and the actors have amazing chemistry :D
I just started and oh my god the acting is so much better than I expected! And just to add, Eom Se Ung's eye crinkling when he smiles is adorable and I don't think I'll ever get over it lol.
Talking about democracy but then petition to silence the opposite opinion is not democratic. The drama might offend…
Well you obviously haven't chosen to listen to the victims in this. I can't believe you're actually worried that the opposition is being "silenced". it's obvious that they're not being silenced, their money and actions speak louder than their words. the victims are the ones being silenced here. they've made a petition, they've even filed a case yet time and time again, they get shut down simply because money and greed have the upper hand. if you're so adamant about " listening to all of the different opinions and to be able to see all the different points of view" then i suggest you take a closer look at the victims side too. take a closer look at the history and as to why this is so important. because you obviously aren't the affected party here.
