Surprisingly, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. going into this series, I had pretty low expectations but I ended up really liking it! It was funny, and yes, it was annoying at times, but overall it was really good. Gun did an amazing job carrying half the show on his back, Off did great job too and they both had chemistry :) As I said, it did get frustrating at time and I just wanted to scream at them, but in the end, it was good :D Oh, I almost forgot! how could I go without mentioning Third's shower cry scene lmao. That scene will forever remain iconic in my eyes (*^▽^*)
Sometimes reading this comment section gives me a headache lmao. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, no one, and I mean no one, is forcing you to watch this. I get it, maybe the shows not your cup of tea, everyone in entitled to their own opinion, however, you don't need to try and become a social justice warrior over a piece of FICTION. if you don't like it, then say you don't like it and leave. you don't have to keep watching and complaining about how 'shitty' it is. all you end up doing is wasting your time on something you don't like, and wasting other people's time by arguing with them. just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people can't. And I'm honestly sick and tired of people attacking someone just because they might like this show. What someone likes it not up to you to decide. I mean that its fine if you wanna try and change their opinion (nicely) but you don't have to downright degrade them and call them names. Anyway, I just hope everyone can enjoy (or hate) this show peacefully.
Woah I'm blown away by the amount of effort put into the first episode! the cinematography of this is amazing. And is it just me or has off's and gun's acting improved so much since their last project? The music was spectacular and the production was definitely more high quality! I initially had pretty low hopes for this because mystery and thriller BL's aren't, well to put it lightly, the best ones out there. But after seeing the trailer and the first episodes I'm actually so excited for this! I really hope it continues to be this good :)
Oh gosh...I didn't realise Hyun Jun got hate for his role in colour rush. I actually enjoyed seeing him in it.…
Yeah, he talked about it a bit on his live, basically begging his 'fans' to stop sending him hurtful messages and to stop asking inappropriate questions. He's been a huge supporter of the LGBTQ+ community so it broke my heart that people were treating him so harshly. The minute I saw Jaehyun was going to play a main lead I knew people would do the exact same thing. it's kinda hypocritical really. like they're not okay with queerness being portrayed negatively, but the minute a famous idol plays a queer character they lose their minds.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. When I heard they were planning to make a remake of the movie, especially with an idol (a famous one too) I knew it was doomed from the start. the thing is Korea's in a weird space regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Last time I checked, they seem to be okay with some thing and not others. Right now, there's a huge push for more queer films and series to show queerness in a positive light. The original movie was highly problematic with a student-teacher relationship and the negative light casted on being gay (Homophobia to put it simply). Last I remember, the reason both leads commit suicide was because they couldn't face the fact they loved each other. It wasn't because of the huge power imbalance, ape gap or social status, it was because they were two men. Now obviously, that's not going to roll in today's day and age so they would have to change it somehow. Now what surprised me was the fact that Jaehyun was going to be in it as one of the main leads. Idols portraying gay characters wasn't new but Jaehyun is part of one of the most popular kpop groups currently. The funny thing is that Korea doesn't like idols, famous ones especially, being part of anything 'gay'. I mean that it's fine when they do fan service but portraying queer characters in a positive light is a big no no. Just take colour rush for example. Hur Hyun Jun was part of The Boyz which is a famous group as well. he played the role of Yoo Han in colour rush and got so much immediate hate for it. He was sent death threats and people were commenting how abnormal it was for him to be playing a gay character. people started asking invasive questions about his sexuality and eventually he decided to decline playing Yoo Han again in S2. So in conclusion, I seriously doubt they would've found a way to both, paint the queerness in this film in a positive light, while also making sure Jaehyun doesn't seem too 'gay'. It was honestly a doomed project from the start, especially since the original film is so problematic. I'm also guessing the original writer didn't budge and probably refused to change the script so yeah there's that too. sorry for how long this rant is but I seriously wanted to get this off my chest :)
I agree that episode 1 didn't feel right to me either, pretty much felt the same way as you. But as you watch…
I think that it has to do with more with the translations. Japanese is very different to English, therefore words have to substituted to make it make sense. whenever Kiyoi calls Hira 'disgusting' he doesn't mean it super seriously. it kinda translates into 'creepy' but in a less hurtful way. idk how to really explain it but, what he says isn't really harmful as much as it is teasing. Same goes for 'stalker'. you can even tell from his facial expressions that he's not being serious. it's more of a nickname albeit a weird one.
I won't lie I was just here for gameplay. Honestly, I think that if they storyline and production were a bit different, this would've been better. Both Gameplay and Best have chemistry and the kiss scenes were really well done. It's a bit of a shame that it was so chaotic and messy otherwise it could've have pretty good. oh well, can't change it now.
I just want a Korean BL drama to be more that just 8 episodes long :'3 Though I'm super excited for this one. I like the fated lovers plot here so we'll see how it goes!
https://stwsry.carrd.co/ i just finished subbing ep 3.. but then i just saw that everyone already has ep 3 with…
I just watched it and trust me you probably did the best job I've seen so far :D it was so smooth and so easy to understand! Thank you so much for putting the time and effort into this!
I'm sorry but I can't with some of the people here man. Some people are calling this a dark, rapey, toxic and violent romance, uh I'm sorry but what do you mean this show is dark?! Is it the insecure teenagers? or maybe the bullying? oh I know, it's the characters being realistic and flawed isn't it. I'm sorry but some people need to really wake up. and rapey?! where did that even come from lmao. Everything in this show has been consensual, either by non-verbal signs or confirmation (Hira kissing his hand etc.) And toxic isn't really the word I would use here. Yes I agree this relationship isn't healthy but y'all be acting like Kiyoi is holding Hira hostage or smth 💀 oh and don't even get me started on the who violent thing. you realize that the guns are metaphors right? they represent his inner rage, the frustration that he can't speak up for himself. everyone's acting like he actually shot someone. I swear all these social justice warriors out there really think they're doing something huh? Anyway, what I'm trying to say is if you don't like it then don't watch, it's really as simple as that.
idk about everyone else but I loved that the kiss was kinda awkward. I mean like I said before I'm a sucker for ✨vibes✨ and I feel like the kiss being awkward was so perfectly placed. It represents their feelings at that moment. it's obvious Kiyoi doesn't know why he feels this way and Hira's always been an awkward person. to me, that kiss kind of represented that. Kiyoi suddenly feeling impulsive, making what he thinks is a foolish decision, kisses him. It genuinely looked like a first kiss from two people who don't know how to communicate their feelings to each other. maybe I'm reading too deep into it, but that's just my opinion :)
yes I love all the emotions and everything but why did literally no one ask (pat) why pran basically sucked his soul out of his body lol. I feel like maybe somebody should've addressed that part lmao
Oh, I almost forgot! how could I go without mentioning Third's shower cry scene lmao. That scene will forever remain iconic in my eyes (*^▽^*)
