i think i found out why there's so many side couples. so from my memory, the novel that this is based on, hemp rope has only thirteen chapters and is still uncomplete. i think the problem arose when the author just didn't update it, because i remember it having thirteen chapters last year as well, and as of now, it remains unchanged. my best guess is that between us was already signed for twelves episodes but i think they didn't realize just how little material they have to work with. you could argue that they could make it up but i've noticed companies don't like taking that risk and remain scarily faithful to the source material. so i think in a effort to fill in the air time, they just shoved a bunch of random couples in and hoped for the best.
its either that or they simply don't have enough plot from the novel to go off of and so, once again, they just shoved a bunch of couples in to fill space.
it such a shame either way because most people waited a long time to get the show and while it seems beautifully executed, the main couple seem to be lost in all the white noise.
some people are so hard to please. when k-bl's first started off, people were critical of the fact that they seemed to be trying to do complex plots with having the budget or run time to do so. it's why bl's like tinted with you didn't really work out but bl's with simple plots, like semantic error or light on me, did. due to the fact that k-bl's are still new and don't receive as much funding, them starting off with simple plotlines makes sense, and i think that is super well done here. the plot is simple but entertaining so far and the actors have great chemistry and comedic timing. they've used their short run time and their budget wisely. everyone's so critical of how it's 'too simple' or comparing it to other bl's. of course k-bl's aren't going to be the same level of production an quality as other thai drama's, where bl's are their own powerhouse of an industry. everyone just need to chill a bit bc it's only been two episodes and the rating is already 7.6 which i honestly think is undeserved.
if you want to watch something to kill time like me, this show is honestly perfect. there's not exactly any real plot to follow and you'll have a good laugh about how bad it is, so all in all not a bad deal lmao. also the ost is super good, it has been on repeat for me all day long, its so addictive.
ugh i absolutely love series that have an actual plot to really dig deep into and analyse, its been a long time since i've seen a drama with so many theories in it's comment section!
they way i was about rant about payu's behaviour and then realized this is based off a mame novel and suddenly i wasn't surprised. it's such a shame though, the plot seemed good and the actors have a lot of chemistry but of course mame has to fuck it up with her weird obsession with sa :/
i'm conflicted. i've read the book this is based on and let's just say it was super problematic (it's a mame book so of course it is, sigh) and now i don't know whether i should watch this or not. because on hand i've been told they've tried their best to make it as non-problematic as possible (keeping in mind mame did have some creative control) but on the other hand it's mame so i'm obviously expecting stuff to go wrong. i honestly wanna watch it but i'm scared it's gonna just as problematic as her other works. does anyone have any thoughts?
you know it's a good show when someone like vee is somehow growing on you. like i know we're meant not like him but i just cant help but sympathise with him sometimes, especially with the whole 'kissing ploy' drama. like this man just got kissed without his consent after say no two times and then was told by a trusted friend of his that he 'shouldn't have put himself in that position'. that has really got to feel shitty.
as someone who has read the book trust me when i say they've somehow made vee into a way less shitty character. i mean is he still kinda terrible? yes. but is he an absolute god awful nightmare? definitely not. at least here he seems somewhat regretful for his mistakes, in the book he's a narcissistic, annoying piece of absolute trash and it takes 33 chapters of yelling, screaming and crying before he actually becomes a good character. vee in season 2 of the book is an absolute angel though :)
Good to see you on this page! Fans of "My Beautiful Man" must have similar taste, because I also love this show.…
honestly never trust the ratings mdl has, I've seen a lot of shows that don't deserve the rating they get, especially with bl's always being rated lower that some the most atrocious k-drama's I've even seen. not to mention how anything made in japan, thailand, taiwan or frankly any other asian country that isn't korea or china always seems to have a lower rating no matter how much praise it receives (ittsay is an amazing example of that). it was sad to see so many people give my beautiful man such a low rating especially when they had dropped the show.
I really like your reference to the colour scheme here.On a different note, I have actually been captivated by…
my beautiful man's colour scheme was absolutely breathtaking! they constant use of blue throughout the show was so good but what i loved the most was the subtle use of yellow and orange. the cinematography for my beautiful man was on a whole other level.

i definitely agree with all that you've said!
i think what made me love my beautiful man was kiyoi was not afraid of the idea that he may love a man. yes he has to grapple with the idea, but when it came down to it, he wasn't afraid of what people might think despite being this popular star of sorts.
i think the same goes here, nozue's insecurity comes from being older and having a younger lover to himself, and while he too has to grapple with the idea that he may like a man, from what i can tell, when it comes down to it, he isn't afraid of the idea of liking men despite being popular in his workplace.
What type of sicko wrote the screenplay. This is a romance between STEP SIBLINGS, who shared the house for years,…
just to clarify seo hae bom isn't adopted. I know that in the series it seems that way but according to the materiel it's based off of seo hae bom is the child of a close friend of the mother. after the friend dies, the mother takes him under her wing but never officially adopts him, he just lives there until he's old enough to move out. they're not related by blood, name or title or anything else for that matter.

omg hey it's so nice to see you again! definitely agree, so far i've seen three people who were fans of my beautiful man on this page who also love this show. old fashion cupcake is definitely so amazing, especially being such a short series. i was blown away by all the emotion the were able to pack into it :)
i have absolutely no words to describe how in love with this show I am, just the whole colour scheme, the early 2000's vibe, the writing, the cinematography, the acting, just everything about this is so perfect. I love how they deal with nozue's insecurities with being older and feeling scared to embrace new thing because of it. it's not a very common thing to see people deal with growing up in bl's so this was a definite breath of fresh air. how they show the build up of tension between him and togawa was just immaculate and their acting is just phenomenal. i cant describe the relationship change was between these two from colleagues to friends because it was so seamless. also the colour scheme hello?? i'm absolutely in love with the neutral tone colour palette they have, it gives this whole show this early 2000's vibe to it which i never knew i needed in my life lmao
did two different production companies work on this? because some of the production and writing quality is so good, like the writing is smart and the humor actually makes sense and the production of this is amazing, but on the other hand what is that poster lmao, like they really paid someone 50 cents , opened a word document and told them to make what they want, and those translation oh my god what is up with that, you'd expect an official and paid platform to have decent subs but half of it was just intelligible and messy. anyway, overall i'm loving this, prem and boun own my heart and my soul so i may be a bit biased but this looks promising :)
i'm sorry but after kinnporsche, i think we've been too spoiled to like whatever this is, like what they hell was everyone on when they were filming this lmao-
this is why hwang daseul is one of my favourite directors. she has this way of weaving a story with such little time, the lighting, cinematography, just everything is so well done. i was scared for a season 2 because they never do that well when it comes to bl's and especially with the trailer i was afraid that this would turn into a hot mess, but i was proven wrong. idk how to explain it but like there's a sense of maturity to this one. she's made me like the angst is the only way i can say it lmao.
