I love that his character is multi layered. He came from an idealistic place, with rigid pov's and uncompromising ideas. I respect that. But when faced with real world problems, he began to question. Trying to do right by people he cares about who he doesn't believe are true criminals, but are just trying to live. Also, I love that they didn't make him an 'alpha' ML, but rather one who uses his brains and strategies and the FL is a brave and smart woman who has saved him more than once. What's wrong with that? Agree:) .. altho they already had each other's memory locked in their hearts.. but this had realism to it. Forced proximity in life or death situations where they counted on each other and got to know each other. Yes, awesome writing!

the synopsis makes this sound like it might be a sad ending. My conspiracy mind also wondered if that would be a reason it wouldn't be hampered in it's release for airing?

That was so interesting, and I felt strongly he only bought that jewelry for the sister as an excuse to hang out with the FL. But it's a fun, tense predicament for us viewers I think.

Well, I can't feel sorry for SFL, she wanted the FL to go back and face possible death at the He's family's hands. She consistently does secretive things that hurt other people. And she never told the FL she liked the SML, you can't blame the FL for her actions of wanting to be close to the SML, the only person who has treated her well and respected her.. . I foresee the SFL being the one who causes lots of trouble in the future. And it won't be out of the goodness of her heart. I do feel bad for the SML, he has had the universe working against him in timing and misunderstandings. And he is not a character who hasn't tried to be the one for the FL. But sadly, this isn't his story :/

I understand what you're saying.. yes, maybe that's it, some people like the ML to be the focus of the drama. And in this drama, there is a small role reversal where she is scrappy, clever and a leader.. He was more passive and held back in the beginning by his beliefs. I saw some comments that felt he was weak. That made me sad. Why do the ML's always have to be the alpha personality to be appreciated ? I love him, he thought he had it figured out and would walk the straight and narrow according to his beliefs and he continually tossed that out as he fell for the FL and saw a bigger picture.

I feel like the plot seems, to some , to be all over the place because it has a more complex dynamic that , for fun, pulls unlikely people together to fight together. A mismatch of classes and personalities that care for each other. But it is also pulling the mysteries all together as well , actually sooner than so many dramas do. imo.

Disagree.. Every episode moves the story forward , with interesting twists and turns, humor and growing romance. I personally haven't been bored once. And since this drama is meant to have mysteries, I don't expect to have everything spelled out for me in the first few episodes. It often happens you don't know who the top villain is until the end of a drama, this is not doing that at all. This drama is def. also about people who had ideas about how they thought their life would go and are confronted with situations that make them have to rethink that. And the pacing is good on that, I guess for some they need more immediate changing, but that would look more silly imo.

I have no idea why this has low ratings. This drama has some nice pacing, leaving you never bored and often surprises you didn't expect. It has humor, the second couple are delightful. The main couple both have personalities that are cautious, so that makes them not as exciting, imo, but still sweet and fierce. And each character has epiphanies to discover about themselves and the world. This drama consistently gives me great entertainment in each episode.
Edited to add. Another thing I love about this drama, when I think something is going to be tragic or sad, the writers surprise me. So far at least. I feel the writers have my heart in their hands and they are taking care of it.

It's obvious he isn't interested in Elise.. and in fact, I think it was clear he thinks he's taking responsibility because he thinks he slept with her. It's frustrating, but I get that. And I used to think he was on to Elise, but I no longer think that. I think he's just a poorly written idiot. Also, it's not ok to be that abusive, to anyone , including your student.. he has pain and issues, sure, but the minute you make excuses for someone to treat you that way, you are entering an unhealthy relationship. She mentioned her parents and he had a giant fit, broke a n electronic tablet. So she can never mention her parents because he has loss in that department? The writers made him pretty horrible, imo, so it's not just that the romance isn't happening, it's I have grown to dislike his character and don't care about the romance so much any more.. I hope that changes, I see he apologized sincerely, that's nice, but in the previews, he again has a tantrum and throws and breaks his helmet.. You can't see the man for the red flags.

Why does romance have to be throw her on the bed OR respects her too much? No one said that but you.. What I didn't expect was 3/4 of this drama that he yelled at her, starved her, punished her, called her disgusting, told her to get out when she did what he had told her to do. She used sugar.. Is taking care of her firing her because she used an ingredient that she will surely need to know how to use in her career? Great mentor, he failed there to. He threw and broke things constantly in temper tantrums. He ignored Elise every time she belittled Ke Song, and in fact when Elise told him she was going to torment Ke Song, he said ' go ahead'. Yes, so protective and sweet that guy.

Let's be real tho.. He has spent most of his time yelling at her, punishing her, throwing and breaking things in a fit, etc.. That is not a slow burn romance.. that is abusive imo.. And it could have still been slow burn, and could have started those little romantic gestures at around ep 10-15.. But we got him asking Elise to be his GF.. and in fact asked her to move in with him and Ke Song.. Yep , that's romantic..The pacing is extremely tiresome, and the constant assault of all the baddies is unrealistic and way overdone imo. If you want a 'natural' story, that isn't it.

for the first time.. today, I don't have an urge to start and binge watch the episodes today.. starting at ep 24 or 25 I believe. I have grown to not respect and dislike so many characters. This drama went south imo.. too bad.. it had so much potential. It made the ML SO stupid and cruel. The writers made SO many bad guys it's a struggle to watch. It's tiresome to watch when the bad guys always win and their victims are constantly too stupid to catch on.

Agree, I was enjoying this drama quite a bit. But it's become a frustrating, annoying experience. At first I hoped Qianfan was on to Elise and let Nina go as some sort of plan. But no, he's just an idiot. A super arrogant, bad tempered, childish, spoiled, cruel idiot. I have grown to dislike him and I am so sad about that. And I really liked Ke Song, but she became a doormat, and stupid in her decisions. Like why wouldn't she tell Qianfan about her discovery of the porridge and the medication? She calls the Dr? This drama turned into degrees of evil for way too many characters. There are few characters to like. There are some, but they are constantly dupes and puppy eyed fools to the bad guys. What a waste of great actors, awesome set designs, and an interesting backdrop for a story.
