It's natural people get upset and sad since their beloved dramas dropped to a rating they don't see is fitting…
It dropped to an 8.9 after a few more people rated a month later or so, which is understandable. But, what makes the difference is how many people do the rating. LR seems to still be very lowkey in MDL and overall without only 2000 people having rated it - its kind of sad when we thing that way, especially now that the ratings have been revamped.
Thanks for the article! Tbh this is one of the prettiest articles (visually) I have ever seen on this site :)I…
Thank you so much, Crimson! I dropped the drama after the 1st episode cause both Linglong and Xuanji were too noisy for my liking. But, you should wait for her to become her true form. That's when things get really good! She sort of understands what she wants after EP 9 when she reunites with the ML. Then, by the 20s, we see her get angry and have her own opinion on stuff. She gains her senses eventually, but it is post ep 25.
Nirvana in Fire's Nihuang is so far the best female lead I have seen out of many in my opinion. She is sort of the not so flashy and cutesy warrior princess and I think its rare to find someone like her. Xuanji is definitely not like that, but she becomes "real" mature and does get better, especially after EP 10. The first Paragraph of the last box explains some of the stuff that can throw you off, so I'll suggest keeping those in mind before diving back in. ;)
I think this is better than Ashes of Love though not quite as polished as Eternal Love.
Story wise, its definitely kind of better than Ashes of Love since AOL only revolved around the Heavenly Realm. Villain wise, I would've preferred someone like The Night Deity. Hao Chen was way too despicable for me and I couldn't find a single thing to make me like him after he went rotten. Thanks for checking out the article, goldenseal50!
This was the last drama I watched with a friendly community, so I thought of sharing a feed post I wrote after going through everything in general regarding the rating plunge: https://kisskh.at/profile/iamconqueror/feeds/v3KzVcx
EDIT: To clarify, the number of viewers matters I think. New dramas with less no. of people rating it seems to have taken a huge plunge. Like LR and NIF for example with only 2500 and 4500 people having rated them.
RATINGS: For those who are worried about the ratings going down or are not convinced due to the ratings, please don't bother about it too much. (LR currently has 8.2 which is understandable considering that the number of viewers is only 6000, which is quite low for a xianxia drama. And only around 2500 people rated it.) A low ratings doesn't mean that a drama is bad or not worth a watch. Eg: Douban's highly rated dramas (Nirvana in Fire, Love in Between, Ancient Detective, Waiting for You in the Future, etc) are low scorers here. This is I think due to the result of swathes of fake accounts/or accounts made particularly to rate a certain drama removed. So, the overall scores took a fall. [I would've added this to the article, but the whole rating thing began only after this one got published.]
Wow nice article I totally love and appreciate the effort that went into it. I can tell you cared about what you…
Thanks a lot, Darkn3ss! That red box was completely written by Sony_t. :) And I think there is no better way to describe Sifeng. He was just letting himself be destroyed for her. [But, we have to give him credit though. He managed to save his own clan and Xuanji simultaneously.]
Thank you Ann. I hope the drama lives up to the expectation. Do let us know what you think of it once you finish…
Glad to hear that you liked it, Ann! We (four of us worked on the article) were actually a bit concerned that the article would be too long, but all aspects of the drama wouldn't be covered if it was short. Thank you so much for taking your time to read all of it! I have only watched Ashes of Love, but Eternal Love (both are mentioned in the last box) is well loved too and has many similar themes. Hope you can find the right dramas and genres to watch. :)
I watched slowly cause of all the torture. But, still enjoyed it. :)Unfortunately, Arsenal Military Academy didn't…
Nah... I didn't mean like that. I dropped the Legends, too. (Coincidentally, Bai Lu and Xu Kai are the leads and they both nailed their roles from the episodes I've seen. Its the only drama that gave me such a strong anxiety attack and I couldn't handle it. The second will be Nirvana in Fire and Love and Redemption. In AMA, I think Xu Kai did an awesome job from all the clips I've seen. I will give it a try. :)
Guys, don't worry about the ratings. Even highly acclaimed dramas like Nirvana in Fire (which is the only Costume drama with a 9. in Douban) has only an 8.8 in MDL. Love in Between released this year only has 7.9 here in MDL, but peaked at 8.2 in China as of now. Love and Redemption is 7.7 in Douban, the same as Ashes of Love; which is higher than even Eternal Love of Dream. Other factors may influence such as the number of viewers - LR and NIF only has a few as compared to other more in the radar dramas. And not everyone will have the patience to stick till the end. Plus, even the Youtube Channel it is uploaded on is not popular. Let's just enjoy it for what it is. :) [Douban is the IMDB equivalent in China. The ratings there are more harsh than MDL.]

Its not that I didn't like it. But, the first episode itself didn't have much impact for me. Even the male lead. It actually had a high rating of 8.8 in MDL before. I'll give it a second chance. :)
I generally don't watch drama having more than 30 episodes and if I watch I skip so many parts, conspiracy parts,…

I thought I'd sworn off anymore of these type dramas even though I am one of those people who enjoyed Ashes of…
Thanks for checking it out, All_In. This drama does have its ups and downs (the last box talks about this), so I would suggest to give it a try with low expectations and an open mind. :) 80% of the drama takes place in the mortal realm, closely interlinked with the other two realms unlike AOL and Eternal Love, where we get a closer look at the celestials and Heaven Realm.
I thoroughly enjoyed this drama. That Hao Chen dude would trigger me every time I saw him, oh my! I guess he was…
Thanks for reading, Atoti! I liked how Hao Chen was the ideal good guy and didn't look even a bit evil, but still managed to get on everyones nerves by just being on screen. :D Teng She was the only character who gave me peace of mind during the EP40s and 50s. I loved how he acted like that, but cared about everyone, even Dijun. (The last episode.)
LOVED your article so much, Thanks !!just out of curiosity, who's ur fave character?
Your welcome, Queen Bee! I personally had many favourites and I mentioned all of them in the article. :D (Yihuan, Si Feng, Xuanji, Ruo Yu, Teng She, Zi Hu, Wu Zhi Qi, Mingyan, the merman...) I liked how different everyone were and couldn't choose any one of them. They all shined. :)

I loved the OST too, most of the songs, especially some of the fight scenes and sweet scene background instrumentals. :)
