It was 9 presents. His nickname is 九日 (Jiu Ri), two radicals separated from the last character in his name (旭). "Jiu" means 9 in Chinese. Some fans shorten it further to just Jiu, or Jiu Jiu.

BLs are basically banned in China atm and mostly everyone is moving away from them. Justice in the Dark gave people hope but Youku aired some of the episodes very quietly back in late Feb / early March and then just stopped so realistically most BLs already produced will never see the light of day.

Chen Xing Xu's next drama that's starting production this month. It's not listed on MDL yet because apparently people kept submitting whatever rumors they came across and then they got fed up and just wiped the cast off entirely until something more official is released, but it's pretty much set. I'm waiting for the booting to happen to submit the change to MDL.

I feel confident enough to say yes. The booting has been pushed back to the 27th though (originally the 20th). She's in Korea atm.

The BL trend exploded thanks to the Untamed. Not the very first BL, but definitely the first one who got huge. It made everyone want to shoot BLs. Guardians was filmed during the post-Untamed BL craze and it's just one of many BLs that basically got produced and shot and shelved, like Heaven's Official Blessing, Immortality, etc. They all got slammed with the ban at the production, post-production level, so basically they just didn't arrive in time. Word of Honor was able to capitalize on the trend because it aired so early in 2021. It does take time to try to catch up with a trend, so after the Untamed aired in mid 2019, most BLs would have only realistically been able to air at best, about 1.5 to 2 years later, especially if we're talking costume dramas.

ZZH's ban wasn't really related to Word of Honor being a BL, it was because of the whole Yasukuni shrine incident, though other people have theories but I'd rather not dig too deep into that particular hole. Not going to go into the details of whether he was innocent or not, though I do feel very sorry for him. If it had something to do with having shot a BL, Gong Jun wouldn't be the huge celeb he is now.

I'm soo excited, especially because the novel sounds so interesting and the hero really fits CXX. Manifesting this!!

They do...but it's all about how bankable a celeb is. He probably can`t command huge salaries yet but he's probably more expensive than the majority of actors under 30 considering he's got a professional acting degree, but more importantly, because after Starry he's now widely seen as an excellent actor, guaranteed to deliver, and that has a price tag.

And omg after the dream arc I swear he was wearing as much lipstick as she was. He's so pretty. IDK why the eff.

I was thinking about Li Chengyin, one of the most amazing portrayals of a morally gray, villanous hero in Cdramas, so much so, that drama stays with you and doesn't seem to let go, even years later...and yeaaah, I just don't think it's the same thing unfortunately. No disrespect to Leo because he is giving it his all, and he's a great performer, a beautiful man. Whatever faults exist are ALL on the writers and directors.

tbh My Boss is pretty much confirmed. The fans are treating it as a done deal at this point. A prominent, semi-official account indicated they are already doing makeup tests in Beijing and the production is set to start this month in Shanghai. The studio in charge is Linmon.

I love how fans are now essentially focused on what comes after that one lol

Re: AvenueX...yeah lol, I agreed with every single thing in her review basically. It was sooo cathartic. I was like, am I taking crazy pills.

He's independent so he has a lot more flexibility than someone signed on to these production companies, it's just that he's mostly worked with Youku. They might have some sort of agreement but it surely isn't too restrictive.
