There was actually a trending hot search this week where he was chosen among netizens as one of the most 4 handsome faces in internal entertainment along with Song Weilong, Gong Jun and ZLH. Of course, those hashtags are used to drag people into fights, but I still thought it was pretty cool that he was included in the lineup. It was especially funny to see all the fans come fully armed with the recent super hot photos he posted haha.
I'm a bit of a nerd so I routinely check DB scores for anything airing and stumbled upon this one. I was also…
"Lol, who said it was a disaster😅?" No one? I said it WASN'T an unmitigated disaster. My point was that it did relatively decent. I wasn't slighting the drama, just thinking about other dramas that have recently aired like Chongzi, which WAS, in fact, an unmitigated disaster. Different genre, I know, but still. I am also not surprised at the number of ratings. As stated, it's not like it was a popular drama (insert whatever reasons here). Yes, I am aware that dramas can get maliciously rated, and to a degree that's still maybe a problem, but a lot of mechanisms have been put in place to prevent some of the more egregious fandom antics.
Douban's score of 7.2 is not considered low for XianXia dramas. In recent years, most of China's popular XianXia…
It opened with a 7.4 actually, the ending made it drop to 7.1 but it later climbed back to 7.2, which is rather good for a xianxia. There is a chance it will climb to 7.3. Personally I hope it eventually gets back to the original 7.4 (incidentally, the same score as Love and Redemption).

7.2 is pretty good for a xianxia. Anything above 7 is good, especially if it's a xianxia or an idol drama of any sort. That's kind of the golden rule. Most popular Xianxia dramas actually have a lower score of around 6 or so, mainly because popularity does =//= high score, so you end up with something that's pretty popular overseas like TTEOTM with a 6.2 (very average, slightly mediocre score) but a whopping 8.9 on MDL. Or a plethora of other xianxias that are very popular because of traffic stars, or the CP carries the show, but they don't even score a 7 on Douban.
Hello Starry Squad! If you are not watching TTEOTM, what are you watching? Finally after weeks found something…
I dropped TTEOTM, and very slowly getting through Truth (kinda savoring it) as I read a webnovel. It's been a really hectic week for me so I haven't really been making much progress with anything. I'm wondering if we should create a private group chat (Discord?) for all of us who loved Starry and would like to talk about our drama journey but IDK how many of you guys use Discord. Let me know if there's any interest. My DMS are open :)
The show scored 6.6 on Douban which is a bit of a surprise to see it so high given the reviews here (For reference…
I'm a bit of a nerd so I routinely check DB scores for anything airing and stumbled upon this one. I was also a little surprised at the score, feels a little high but it seems it worked a little better for Chinese audiences than overseas. The number of ratings is only 10k though. The demographics being mostly female may be explained by people watching mostly (not just) for DYX. It wasn't an unmitigated disaster, people who did give it a chance thought it was okay, and those who didn't seem to just have accepted it was not their thing and quietly moved on. (And Jun Jiu Ling has a 3.9?? That is so low, this is relatively successful by comparison. JJL has only 17k ratings having aired so long ago). IDK I just really love stats so here I am, blabbering. Doubt anyone is going to bomb it though, Douban isn't that easy to be gamed and this drama, though it was talked about wasn't exactly "popular" in C-drama lingo.
Edited to add: I will say I'm a little surprised that Royal Rumors seems to have been better received overseas, but it scored 6.2 on Douban. I think it's the most comparable drama given tone, release date and general genre.
someone said: " the effects are excessive.." i totally get that sentiment, honestly, and that every person is…
AvenueX's opinion regarding it being like a video game didn't really have to do with excessive special effects though, it had to do with the internal logic of the story. Not here to defend her, or defend the drama, just making an observation because I've seen that criticism taken out of context a lot to say that she was talking about the "look" of it being like a video game, but it had to do with the storyline, directing, editing and characterization, not the CGI.
For whatever reason MDL doesn't want to believe this is Chen Xing Xu's drama. Are they this strict with other dramas? Even though the FL has changed a couple of times, it's always been his...come on MDL. The weibo page for the drama just opened today.
And you’ve seen the nice childish drawings of his characters On his weibo? I thought yesterday Also priceless…
He definitely doesn't take himself seriously as an "idol". It helps that he can easily switch on different parts of his personality. He can do the smouldering boudoir photoshoots, the adorable BF experience, a fun older gege to just play games with or the serious actor who is all about craft and will ramble on about it lol.
I'm revisiting this page over and over to see if a 2nd season is confirmed 🥲I've withdrawal symptomsThank God…
Yeah...seems unlikely tbh, I'm more hopeful for a reunion drama between CXX and LLD. Glad you're enjoying TTEOTM. So many people needed something to fill the void TSL left.
