I did not even consider that this had an open ending. I interpreted "it's been a while" to be maybe because she was away for research purposes and not really implying that the future magically changed. He was content of who he became after 30 years and did not lift a finger to change it, well maybe just the pinky finger because he interacted with his past self that caused 29 year old him to do genuine choices. He was overwhelmed with his cuteness and relived his passion when he was at his prime. but nevertheless, he did not sabotage nor salvage anything, the future was what it was supposed to happen.
I was not paying attention because i was preoccupied with the second hand embarrassment, so i thought all he did was rap (which might be considered singing also?)
