I think a lot of other people are in the same boat, but this is my first Chinese drama ever and I'm really enjoying it so far. I love the way it's shot, and the pacing is so gradual and creepy. Mr. Bo is great.
Ah! Let Shin Hyuk have his Jackson! It is not like he did not try to confess to her before. I hope she hears him…
All I want, at the bare minimum, is for her to acknowledge all the times he's been there for her and realize how much/how long he's liked her. Even if he is then rejected, like you said, at least let her hesitate for a moment. It's just too sad to have him completely dismissed out of hand EVERY TIME. Jesus.
Honestly, I loved the first two episodes but then it kind of got slow ._. I hope it picks up again soon!
3 and 4 slowed down a bit getting the characters aged up to where they need to be. I thought it picked up from there. I just finished episode 8 and I'm pretty thoroughly engaged at this point.
From the first episode, one of the recurring themes seems to be "let's focus on the supporting characters"…
I'm getting the exact same thing from the way they keep trying to drive home that theme. That scene where she was talking about how her looking at SJ was like looking through one way glass, where she can see him perfection but he can't see her at all...and the whole time focusing on SH's face because she was describing his relationship to her. GAH! It might be the SLS speaking. I really like Shin Hyeok, but I also think it would suit their theme really well if they played with the usual "first lead, second lead" convention.
finally ep 9 preview is out...so happie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcRJga6b9ds
I'm guessing that the accident is going to involve Siwon's character, considering all the motorcycle stuff in the preview. I doubt their going to go with amnesia. I would be super surprised if they did. But it would be a good chance for them to reveal he is the nephew.
All this "main roles" and "supporting cast" talk is making me feel hopeful. Probably in vain. But I don't really care. Episodes 7 and 8 sealed the deal for me. Jackson couple all the way! Something good better happen for Shin Hyeok or I'm going to cry. He's the only sincere and active member of the cast. Everyone else is either lying through their teeth all the time or passively letting stuff happen to them. Shin Hyeok is the best!
I don't know why I can't get myself to hate Ha Ri despite her betraying Hye Jin. Am I the only one with this kind…
I don't hate her either. I am upset by what she is doing and I see she's just going to end up hurting people she cares about and ruining her chances because of it. But she sees that too. She KNOWS what she's doing is wrong and that it's going to end in tragedy, but she's doing it anyway, because she is experiencing love for the first time and she doesn't know how to handle it, but she doesn't want to let go of it. I think a lot of people can probably sympathize with doing wrong, and knowing you're doing wrong, because you feel like you can't help yourself. Those sorts of intense emotions have caused a lot of suffering in the world, even as much as they have caused joy and comfort. I think it's okay to be mad at a character, think she's wrong, and still sympathize with her and not hate her. Without these kinds of characters there wouldn't be a drama.
Till when are they going to drag "the him finding out who she is " issue .. from the preview it doesn't…
I agree with you. I really hope that the writers don't go with the "main pairing" on this one. They would really be doing their own groundwork a disservice if they did. #TeamShinHyeok all the way.
wait wait wait I know!!!! WHAT IF THEY LET HER END UP WITH SIWON! wait for it- AND SEO JOON REALIZES WHO SHE IS…
This would be my ultimate scenario as well. I would be so happy if they are faking us out with the first lead and the first love premise. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but the fact that they didn't go for the usual first lead/second lead structure was one of the reasons I really enjoyed Producer. It kept me guessing, and even though the pairing that they went with wasn't what I was shipping, I was still happy by the time they finished. I wish more dramas would keep you guessing like that. I am cautiously optimistic this might be one of those. They have given the secondary pairings a LOT of screen time and development so far compared to the "main" pairing.

I don't think this is going to make you feel better. But I honestly think that the identity issue is going to be the central conceit of the show and I don't expect them to resolve it very quickly. If they do I would be pleasantly surprised, but I expect them to continue to build up misunderstandings for maximum comedic/dramatic value. Tis the Kdrama way.
I'm not completely alone in thinking they seem to be laying the groundwork for a Seong Jun/Ha Ri and Shin Hyeok/Hye Jin ending, am I? It's the end of episode 4 and all positive or romantic interactions have been between those people;.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but whatever. I was kinda hoping to avoid this, but I may be falling into…
I have only see the first two and managed to avoid spoilers, and I still tend to agree with you. As I finished ep 2 I was like, "Please, surprise me, give me something better than a MFC falling for a jerk lead who treats her like dirt." I would totally be interested in seeing Hye Jin's friend with Seong Jun. But I already feel second male lead syndrome setting in HARD. I'm really worried this one is going to make me mad.
A lot of people have lavished praise on this drama, and I have tried to watch it. But for me the first two episodes really pack on the cheese factor. I haven't been able to get myself back into it. Should I muscle past the first few episodes or does it stay consistent throughout?
I enjoyed the article. It was an interesting read and it's always good to discuss these topics and keep their importance at the forefront of our minds when enjoying Asian dramas. It's true that this is an aspect that comes up again and again in a lot of these dramas and while I think that some of the female character writing can be really good, there is always the danger of being desensitized to abuse.
The only show that was shown as an example, not even mentioned in the article just a screen cap used, that I would care to defend is Master's Sun. While this show is by no means free from wrist grabbing or consent issues, the image used is a bit misleading. In the scene shown the MFC is actually stalking the MMC and he's about to hand her over to security to have her ejected from the building. If anyone is guilty of assault or problematic behaviors it's probably the female character. At least for the first half of the show.
With that in mind, I would love to see you write something about stalking in Asian cultures and how it's portrayed. I've noticed a whole lot of "stalking is love" or "stalking is cute" in Kdramas especially, and I would be interested to read something on that.
