Does anyone know why it looks like there's only 2 upcoming VIP episodes (Epi 9&10) for ALL of next week? That's gonna be such torture to wait this out since we got started with 8 episodes this week 😢

Agree! I just shared the same thoughts too. Like FL or the drama doesn't seem to take anything she does seriously, always giving her an easy "out" because of her fairy/super powers and as as a result, her character seems really flippant/silly.

She'd be like:
* Oh, a dangerous situation? Let me just walk right in and try to take on this army of dudes even though I might die cause I have superpowers!
* Oh, jump off this high tower that would kill anyone else? Let me just do it and make sure 2nd ML even uses me as cushion too when we hit the bottom cause I've got superpowers!
* Oh, you gave me some special expensive pills? Let me feed them all to 3rd ML and then when my chronic headache/pain kicks in, I've got no medicine 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

FL just makes dumb decisions. It's still early so I hope she grows and learns and has to make a serious effort later on because I do love ML a lot, and want him to be happy.

Hm, I'm wondering if there's a point to her constant migraines? It's come up twice now, maybe I'm over thinking it?

Also, I'm not sure if it'll come up again, but I'm wondering if it's related to and or will the drama circle back to the "Lovesick Potion" that Tang Yang poisoned her with in Epi 1 before he "killed" her? I was kinda excited when she got poisoned with that (similar poisons have been used in other dramas and I like it cause it always adds an angsty angle to when the main couple falls in love cause it hurts one side but he/she realizes they love each other regardless and learns to power through and live with the pain OR because it hurts one side too much that the other side can't bear to see them in pain and needs to heal them or distance themself to "save" them for a bit until they can't be apart any longer). But don't worry, true love still usually wins in the end. 😂
But it hasn't come up again? I'm hoping that's why ML is trying to keep a distance...

Agree! He was gorgeous in his fluffy cape and the falling snow. I really liked that scene too.

Like many, I've been waiting forever for this drama to drop, and I like Li Hong Yi and Huang Ri Ying so I was initially excited.
Li Hong Yi is definitely BEAUTIFUL (him and the snowy scenes here are gorgeous)! I kinda dig that he's so grumpy and so hauntingly melancholic here too, lol

So, although I've kept expectations low (I'm definitely aware this is an older filmed drama and pretty low budget) but I'm not impressed by the drama 😭-the editing is so super choppy (what the heck is up with all the numerous fading to black scenes in Epi 6, omg!), there's so many time jumps, the flashback style of storytelling is confusing as I'm not feeling any connection/build up between the main couple nor any of the side characters as we don't know them, yet they all seem to know each other and have intertwined back stories already! I feel like I walked into the middle of a drama having missed every other episode, I hate that feeling so early into the drama!

The flashback style reminds me a lot of The Legends, but even that spent a bit more time in the beginning building up the main couple's relationship so when it started it's flashback mode, I could still root for the couple even if it made me feel like I had amnesia half the time too.

And maybe it's my bad, but I'm disappointed by the "I'm a fairy/not-mortal" aspect of the FL. I was hoping this would be a full on wuxia drama and more serious/angsty in nature. I don't like that she's randomly a fairy, which just seems to be an excuse for her to be powerful and easily pick up martial arts and not die, yet she's childish, comes off very silly and lacks any common sense as she seems to be walking into her "death" like every other episode. Grrrrr, girl needs more brains and less brawn.

Also, again this whole: "Oh, if she's dies, that's OK, I'll just bury her, wait a couple years and she'll be back" kinda defeats the purpose of wanting me to root for her, cause she can't even seem to die... so what's even at stake here? She keeps "reincarnating" into the same lifetime and yet nothing has changed 😑

I'm frustrated ML just keeps up and leaving FL, yet kinda stalks her everywhere and conveniently pops up everytime she needs saving or meds, but then shoos her away whenever she tries to make conversation! I'd be so confused if I was FL too why he's even around since he's so hot/cold to her.
And I wonder if he ever gets annoyed/jealous that she keeps saving random dudes all over the place, causing them to fall madly in love with her and they either try to kill each other or her with their obsession, geez. She has a major savior complex without even realizing it.

Despite all this, I'll still keep watching because I like the ML's character, hoping FL has some character growth eventually, and I do enjoy the styling (hair/costumes). But I really hope the story gets better soon... and I need the romance to pick up, please drama gods.

If you're shallow, I'm shallow too, we're all shallow and willing admit it! 😂 Pretty sure the majority of us hung on for the male lead too (and maybe a bit for the FL/main couple's chemistry & hot kisses). The storyline is addictive, but definitely full of huge plotholes, yet we're all pretty good at ignoring those cause ML kept us going for sure!

Haha, yes. I started this and told my sis, Hey, I'm watching this cdrama but it's soooo like a lakorn with its toxic aggressive ML. But I'm gonna keep going cause he's hot and I've seen worse. 🤣
(Btw, I don't condone violence in romance/dramas and even thai lakorns and remakes seem to be toning it down somewhat these days thankfully.) But yeah, the craziness in the beginning of this drama didn't even phase me.

Besides, with cdramas, I know once the ML falls, they fall in love sooooooo dang hard so the ride was gonna be worth it!

Yes, definitely can also see that too! His front view and nose does kinda resemble Wang Hao Xuan (side angle/view is like Dylan to me). But I'm also seeing resemblances to kdrama actor: Lee Junki. And for some reason I asked my sister to look at him and agree with me on all the actors he reminds me of, and tell me why she said he looks like kdrama actor Song Joongki to her 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. I don't see that, but she insists so um, OK.....? 🤣

So I guess he looks like a good mix of other cute actors in one then. Either way, he's 🔥🔥🔥

Total agree! Granted I've gone straight from LBFAD* to UL, sprinkled with lots of behind the scenes filming/spoilers for Dylan Wang's upcoming drama, so he's already on my mind. But I felt a lot of similar vibes to Dylan too while watching this drama. For me though, it's not so much looks (although I can see some similarities), but it's ML's perfected lethal glare, how he also didn't really give a damn about the FL at first (note: DFQC initially choked out XLH too) but then getting super vulnerable and not being able to live without the FL later, that chiseled jawline, evil smirk, and ML's similar styling (glasses and business suits) to Dylan's Shi Yan character. Of course, they're both handsome in their own way, but ML definitely giving off similar vibes in looks/styling and character.

Sorry to burst your bubble. But cdramas first and foremost will always cater to their internal Chinese audience, that's where the money and audience/numbers are where it really counts. Global/international audience is a very small blip on their radar. There's nothing they (producers/those making dramas) gain from making a separate version for global audience sadly. And I'm pretty sure they can't (or haven't in past) ever made a censored vs uncensored version for internal/external audiences. That's not how censorship works and doubt drama platforms would want to piss off the censorship board by trying to have a different/uncensored version floating around or they'd get shut down so fast! Censorship rules are usually only slightly different for web vs TV (web dramas are more lenient) but even then- a while back, I read censorship was were getting stricter on web dramas too.

Maybe we can hope for a director's cut in future as that happens sometimes, but even those are not much different from the original in my opinion (different angles, minor deleted scenes). The version we see today is likely the only version we'll ever get 😥😥😥

Yes, most of them shave their hair off for monk/bald characters. And also for dramas where they have the Qing dynasty hairstyle too (half bald in front, long braid in back).

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing that the ML resembles Leo Luo Yunxi from some angles? (I know it probably also had to do with styling too- his hair and mostly white outfits in here is quite similar to Leo's styling in Ashes of Love). He reminds me so much of Leo though.

Totally agree! I was really frustrated by her lack of preparedness during their forest trek too. She's literally lived in the village all her life, even if you were silliest person ever or pretending to be, throwing out basic common sense (like dressing appropriately for the outdoors and bringing basic supplies) is so nonsensical of her.
And then they ran into rain... Mei Ren claims she couldn't take him on earlier days because she checked and the weather said rain so they stayed away. But then they didn't bother to check the weather the day they set out and was totally unprepared for rain? That makes noooooo sense either.

So far, I enjoyed the tidbits of college/childhood and FL's background as that makes her relatable, but I'm not digging how far and how long they're stretching out the fake airhead version of her. It's been going on soooo long now I feel like this is the REAL her (even though it's not supposed to be?) as that's most of what we've been shown. I need some depth and development soon or I might drop this, as much as it pains me. I signed up for a smart/bubbly heroine who is pretending to be dumb (and will go back to her smart self soon), but feel like I'm getting a dumb heroine who is just maybe dumb? Nothing against Esther, I'm just talking about the character and story itself!

And if the trek required a guide.... why did the photographer guy decide he was gonna go wandering around the mountainside by himself looking for them when nobody asked him to? Did he really expect he would find them on his own (and not totally get lost). Also dumb.

I'm really trying to hold on due to my love and goodwill for ZBB and Esther, and will probably keep going because of the upcoming hot kiss previews. But I'm just not digging all the huge plot holes so far and lack of character development for FL. Like, can she be cute, bubbly and still have common sense, please?

I went in expecting to love Esther's cute bubbly character and maybe not so much ZBB's super serious self. But now it's the other way around, I feel like ML is just more realistic, has real goals/serious dreams that I can root for, and FL is wasting his precious time being too silly/annoying/pushy with her airhead persona. 😢

Netflix is only dropping like 2 a day starting last week forward so it's still a bit behind. They haven't released all the episodes yet.

Yeah, the epilogue doesn't destroy my love for the drama either. I already love it too much on its own. But the poor presentation of the epilogue however just came as a slight disappointment. Like if they set our expectations right from the start: "it's gonna be short" or "it's a cute compilation of old scenes with new narration" - then hearts might not have been so hurt 😢.

Sad, hopefully you get it soon! But the Netflix version (USA) doesn't sub the osts/songs though whenever they play, so I'm disappointed in that. Watching it on Netflix to boost it there, but still also rewatching on iqiyi cause I love understanding the mood the drama is trying to set whenever the songs play too!
