Is this the best adapted drama from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang so far in ur opinion ? Has any of her other novels had great…
I think this is the best adaption so far from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's novels. *LBFAD really played up and fleshed out DFQC as he's quite unlikeable in novel, but obviously a fan fav in drama. XLH's growth is done so well too! :) Loving drama more than novel.
* TBW follows the novel ok-ish plot wise, but it lacked a lot of the pain, the anguish, and the emotions from novel. The drama felt really flat to me, like it hit all the main points but didn't play up any of the scenes I really wanted to see, like Yun He's pain and suffering during her years of imprisonment, and her suicide attempt, even the quintessential "blue whisper" scene was not as impactful in the drama. I prefer novel over drama.
* The Legends was great until Zhao Yao "died" again (fireworks), came back to life, then they threw in the SML love line, deviated too much from the novel and ended it in such a horribly disjointed way. I still don't know happened with that choppy nonsensical ending, and the fake-out "happy" novel ending they tried to give us within the last 5 seconds. What a waste of Xu Kai and Bai Lu's beautiful chemistry! Zhao Yao started so fiercely bad-ass but then lost that side of herself when she fell in love, so sad. 😢 The choppy way of story telling to mirror the novel was also super jarring too in actual drama format (i.e. showing a lot of back story in flashbacks or after the fact). I prefer novel.
Looking forward to seeing how "Love You Seven Times" will turn out, I really enjoyed that novel. I'm hoping it's a success so someone can seriously work on "Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang" next- that's actually my fav novel from this author. And it lives in the same universe as LBFAD and Love You Seven Times so give it to me already, lol! 😂
The Legend of Shen Li is too early to tell. I find the English translation to be a bit off (mtl perhaps) so I haven't finished reading that one yet but am intrigued with the plot.
So excited for Back from the Brink, Zhou Ye and Hou Minghao look so good together, however won't be able to comment on acting and chemistry yet. It's not my fav novel, but I think that also has to with the clunky translation moreso than the novel itself for me too. Hoping the drama will flesh out what I'm not getting from the novel translation.
This author has a "Master" series and I really like 1 of those stories (the one where the FL is the master and ML is the ML feeling unrequited love), I wouldn't mind seeing that one expanded into a drama either cause the happy ending was very cute!
Also, I’m so angry that FL has many time poisoned ML. Esp the one in the mortal realm. Did he have other motive…
The first time, she did it for his own good. She even told him after the fact that she knew he wouldn't go away on his own (and we know the sleeping powder allowed her time to get him into the boat and float him away to freedom). The second time doesn't count (to me) as she stopped him before he drank it. The third time, I wouldn't call that poison when it was more like medicine to prevent him from feeling her pain. I'm not counting that time either.
So... she truly only poisoned him once in my opinion 😂
I read fairy Siming (Li Yi Tong) has her own book as well and is paired with a powerful dragon that fought DFQC…
Yep, I heard there's a novel too (was written before Cang Lan Jue) but never able to find Siming's story so I'm guessing it's not translated to English anywhere yet. Anyone know what her story is called? I know we get glimpses of her and her ML from Cang Lan Jue's novel ending so it made me kinda curious about her story.
i wonder if this is the first drama, which I will be rewatching as much, after it ends, like nearly a decade ago,…
Totally do it! Watch on repeat for as long as you need to! 😂 I know I will! I warned my sister once this drama ends, I'm gonna watch it on repeat everyday for like the next 3 months straight or however long it takes to get it outta my system, so she better prepare herself, lol. Don't expect me to have a life until I'm over this love for LBFAD.
moon palace seem to have security problems.... anyone can barge in from Chang Heng, Rong Hao and his assistant…
Yup, nobody seems to have good security in this drama for their homes. That may be the only loophole/lapse in logic we've seen so far, lol. Granted, it's not just Cangyan Sea/Moon Palace. Shuiyuntian's security isn't impressive either- DFQC and SQ walked themselves all around Arbiter Hall, the fairy forest and even the emperor's balcony (where DFQC brought XLH to watch the sunset) in the earlier episodes and nobody noticed at all either! Granted, DFQC did at least try to make himself invisible outside of Arbiter Hall, so his free roaming makes more sense. But they live in a magical, fantastical world, don't y'all have spells for that kinda stuff (invisible intruders/strangers)? Even Ronghao's Haishi building pretty much let XLH waltz in and reclaim Chidi Nu's destiny book, and DFQC invaded it super fast to save XLH. You'd think there'd be a better security system in place to protect their people and treasures! 😂😂😂
My heart shattered into pieces when Jieli said she was making sure there were no moles on SQ's neck cause they're…
Yep, I agree with achina. I believe she was checking him for signs of poison (at first I thought she was sniffing him for poison, lol). But her excuse was totally in line with what SQ would expect from her, so he totally didn't even question her logic/excuse.
Anyone know why Esther is not out promoting the drama with the boys? I’d love to see her standing next to Dylan!…
I wish she would too. But I believe she's filming right now (Sword and Fairy) w/Xu Kai. ZLH is also out filming (Story of Kunning Palace) w/Bai Lu. So those two are not really available for promos. 😢
For the first time, AvenueX released positive reviews for Xianxia drama because of Fairy and Devil. She is hard…
I adore this drama with or without avenuex (and I've been a long time follower moreso to keep up on c-drama news) but I take her reviews with a grain of salt whether she gushes or hates it, lol. It's so nice when she does also fall in love with the same drama I'm into though. Cause then she gives all kinds of content I am totally into (like mvs, related content, breakdowns of certain themes/topics... etc).
Esther Yu has always been one of her favs/tolerable younger actresses however, so I don't think that she'd really say anything super bad about her. In my opinion, avenuex tends to be quite bias and rates dramas that have her fav actors/actresses a bit less harshly than others. In this case, Esther just happens to be one of her favs though so it works out for me too. 😂
Omg, I'm slightly worried about what the drama is implying in Epi 19 when XLH's face morphed into Chidi nu/Xie Wanqing.....??? But I can't wait to find out.
I don't know about you guys but honestly I really enjoyed episode 20 alot. Also, the mortal version of CH is funny.…
Agree, I am enjoying CH's mortal self so far. He's a lot more free and playful without the weight of his heavenly roles and restrictions. My favorite part was when his Dad was punishing him and threatened to take away his monthly allowance and he immediately gave in, lol. 🤣
I am just finding the storyline vague and unrelatable. Initially i thought this Xianxia drama would bring in something…
Replying to@Vaishnav To add to everyone else clarification/comments, I'm not sure where you got the impression that Chang Heng and Danyin jumped and ended up in the mortal world as full grown adults. Using their mortal names below, Crickets says she's been an orphan since childhood, and she's been with Xiao Run for 11 years. Xiao Run references he's been engaged to Xie Wanqing since birth, and they've both met as kids since their fathers were both officials at the time. Also, Xiao Run says he's been dreaming his whole life of a fairy who he thinks is his destiny. Plus he's got a full household of servants that know him well/parents (a Dad for sure). So, that implies both have lived through a childhood and have childhood memories that pre-date when their mortal selves were reintroduced at the brothel. The drama just didn't show us their specific birth/childhoods as it's not relevant to our story. (I'm not interested in that either as a viewer since it would majorly drag the drama on unnecessarily.) DFQC, XLH, SQ, and JL waited for Xie Wanqing to reach adulthood (and so by default, Xiao Run & Crickets are now also adults) before they dropped in and thus we do see them setting up fake aliases and buying a house since they don't belong/were not born naturally into that mortal timeline like Xiao Run, Crickets or Xie Wanqing. So nope, those 2 (Chang Heng and Danyin) did not jump into full grown bodies! We just didn't meet them again until adulthood.
Forgive me as I have not read the novel. But I'm confused on Rong Hao's character. He obviously has "evil" intentions and is kinda the baddie at this time. Yet he says his master is Chi Di Woman, who I think was "good" since she tried to take out our ultimate bad boy, Dong Fang Qing Cang. So, was he (Rong Hao) initially also good and turned to the evil side in desperation to find a way to bring her back (we can tell he's in love with her). If so, wouldn't she be sooooo disappointed when she comes back? Or was he always bad and maybe just hid that part from her? I don't see how that pair (Rong Hao & Chi Di woman) were together I guess. Hopefully the rest of the story will explain.
God, here the main characters are so charming, sexy and attractive. that Yu Mo simply fades against his background.…
I totally agree. Even though he's a nice guy/character, in terms of power/strength, looks and charisma, Yu Mo's totally unmatched to Ying Yuan. SML is the drama's only weakness so far in my opinion. I'm slightly disappointed that I don't have the urge to root for SML at all. And his styling--that hair/wig with bangs needs to go, it's not flattering for him. As the drama goes on, maybe his character will show more development or ML brings too much angst that I may need to root for SML, but for now, I can't look past ML. Ying Yuan's just toooooooooo beautiful and ethereal!
